I don't remember if you were there, but Peel, Matti and I tested exactly how visible the lights were.. Midnight at the Norschleife, and you could notice the lights almost from one end of the long straight to another (that's about 1.33 miles :scared: )
No I wasn't there... Apparently online public lobbies still don't care about how visible the lights are because they still end up smashing you. Them suckers are bright though.

You could drive a military tank with lights being replaced by canon fire, they still wouldn't notice it

I've received a message from an Australian GTPer going by the name of BERNSY001. He's looking for two pace car drivers for a 2.4 hours of Le Mans.

BERNSY001
I'm hosting the Le Mans 2.4 this year and we have 14 entrants, struggling to fill the last 2 spots in LMP1. So, we've decided to have 2 pace cars.

So, as of yet, we don't have a set date for the race but it won't be before the weekend of the 19th. The weekend of the 18th, 19th & 20th will be the first weekend we are asking around for availability for the race.

So you can check it out (and the drivers you choose) to see what it is all about I have linked our thread at the bottom.

The race will be run (when we decided a date), will potentially start at any time between 12pm and 7pm Australian Eastern Standard Time.

The meeting itself will be roughly 3 hours, 2.4 hour race, 20 minutes of qually. But the two pace cars are only needed for the first lap, then they can leave if they wish or stay and watch.

Basically, in brief description of the task, each driver will control a class (LMP1 or GTE) at 90km/h 25 seconds between the last P1 car and the first GTE car.

Not sure about my availability (in the process if finding a new residence) so I will have to pass. Sorry.

I've been lurking on that thread, though if they do indeed do it on the 18th/19th/20th, my luck will just continue

By the way (I forgot), a lil' review of redbullrider's performance from Akasaka Grand Prix:

Well, what's to say? He did a great job, kept the pace around the track for the opening lap, wasn't afraid of asking if the race would start under yellow flags, did just about what I expected when he returned to stand-by position, did not do a thing for 90 minutes.

Overall rating:
Scale goes from GTFO bad (👎) to absolutely perfect (:D:tup:)

My rating: :)👍 (something like a 9 on a normal 1-10 scale)

So that means I'm not fired :D LOL

Actually, BERNSY001 replied to my message that they were able to fill the last two slots so they won't be using us after all.

I almost said "phew"

I'm just gonna throw this one in already: I'm offering another space as Safety Car in an enduro, details to be revealed (because I'd want just a slight bit of teasers :sly: ), but be prepared for the race to last about 2.5-3 hours and be a "neutral" european time (morning for those from the other side of the puddle, evening/night for Asia). The prize for helping me out will be a Ticket 1000 in GT5 or a tba favor/car/ticket in GT6 :)

For a tiny bit of a moment I thought you said that meant you were fired

Depending on date/time I might be available for it. Keep us posted!

I almost nearly forgot about GTP altogether and haven't posted anything for over 2 months! I will assume that I will have some catching up to do before I can be a SC driver for GT5 :) .

Hopefully I haven't missed out on anything good...!

All you really need to do is send me a message over PSN when I'm on. If I'm free, we can do something, or we can try to plan ahead of time.

I might be able to help out if it's sometime not too late in the weekend or Monday.. who knows, maybe I'll demonstrate the "wroooomscreeeechBANG"

I won't be able to do it this weekend because I'll be away but doing it on Thursday or Wednesday is a possibility :) .

Peel if you do not have a SC lined up for your NASCAR Japan series I should be able to do most of the races...

A little update on my coming need for a safety car: everything is about 80% ready, and the reveal date is set to tomorrow :)

Sorry for double-posting, but, as I promised, here's the link, with all imaginable details in it :)

Just for fun, could whoever might volunteer to do this use the LFA or IS F road car? :sly:

I do not see this said link...

Before I can add that to the OP I'll need the information that you need to provide as listed in the OP.

Peelster1
If you need a Safety Car driver, just make a post stating your Pace Speed and exactly what the driver would be doing; whether it's just for a opening lap, or if it's for a full race that has Cautions, or whatever else you might want a Safety Car driver around for.

As you can tell I wasn't quite awake yesterday. Even if this was done in the afternoon/evening :dunce:

Right, here goes:

Pace speed: 100 km/h / 62 mph
"Duration": Full race (approx. 2 hours) with caution/full-course yellow
Preferred Safety Car: Lexus IS F or Lexus LFA

I would like two safety drivers in my future events, one to be on track and the other to watch the race to alert the on track pace driver of any issues and where. :)

Thanks rally! Could you help me out with the exact time you would like the SC to be in the room? I noticed your timer on the Autumn 300 page, but after November 3rd, most of us American's at least, will be setting our clocks back an hour. I'm not sure if GMT has anything like that, but could you please list the time in GMT?

Sounds like you need a Safety Car driver and a Spotter. I don't really have a system for being a Spotter, but in my experiences, drivers are pretty vocal about on track incidents (most of the time), and a Safety Car driver with a full map view will be able to see any wrecks on track simply by looking at the triangles on the map. (This does not mean they will be able to catch everything however.)

Just let us know when you have more specifics about your events.

In general, the earlier the better, but at least 10 minutes earlier. And yes, we go back an hour this very Sunday :dopey:

Depending on time, I might be able to take a role in Zuel's thing. About time I get around to officially doing something for the SCC

By the way, I have a little question:
With GT6 being as radically different to GT5 as we can guess it is, will we have to renew our license?

Not unless there is a major difference regarding how we control our gas pedals.

In all seriousness, I don't think so. The main thing I needed to find out was that people know what they should be doing as a Safety Car driver. That doesn't have much to do with game mechanics. My next thing I need to work on for this club is getting in touch with the rest of the red names and keeping contact more confidant to be sure people are actually available as sometimes people will join a club and then do nothing more with it.

That's a valid point, I just wanted to be sure :)

I can sign to that, and it's not only clubs 👎:grumpy:

Speaking of being available, I still have an escort training to do, so if there's a chance of this during the weekend, I'm up for it 👍

@Peelster1 the second car will be a chance car to make sure last car has rejoin the tail of the field, or the conditions car.
