My dad has dismantled the units now, though he still has the wood and they can be reassembled without problem, if you want them vexd.

You know you've also got a wheel, a slimline PS2, two LCDs and my switch. And I know a bloke who can lend us lots of network cables again... :D

VexD, give me plenty of warning for anything you may arrange and I'll try my damnedest to arrange funds and time and get my ass over there! 👍

BTW, it dawned on me that the three female drivers from GTP that I know about are all English ... must be something about good old blighty 👍

I'll be there, I've had hell over the last couple of weeks sorting out my VAT code, I've finally been given it, TODAY, which is nice, very, very nice. All I need is a time and place.

Yeah, either that or this is the only country that harvests girls nutty enough to play.

cool and the gang, i like this level of enthusiasm, lets get something sorted out soon then.

ill work on it.

ill start a thread when im ready.

:irked:👍

With daan & Ron's Scottish accent, Kelly's Mancunian, Sukerkin's Staffordshire and my Yorkshire/Posh, a stupid accent wouldn't be on your list of worries... :D

It must be said though, everyone MUST meet Ron at least once. He's a laugh a minute.

Ron: "I'm on a promise not to ****ing swear, man."

Erm... it's a Rochdale accent as a matter of fact :P and it aint stupid :grumpy:

And Ron done very well with his swearing I might add and I've never ever heard him say "bobbins " before :boggled:

Vexd if you have got a venue big enough for 50 people, you could be onto a big thing here! we could have the biggest GT LAN party ever with drivers from all over the world! I know we'll be there 👍

Looking forward to the upcoming details :)

I think thats probably true, I used to work with a girl who's fave game was GT, one of the lads said don't you mean GTA, and she said no Gran Turismo.

vexd
Next time, even GT_Fan2005 will be there.

Dam right i will be, and i WILL quit my job this time if they say no.:D

Just drop me an email once you got everything sorted so ican get it all sorted on my end as well.👍

Yes sir:boggled:

We'll see what we can do.

We just need to have a structure for the weekend too......

I think if you have one big championship, where people race into the nite, using nite trax at that time of day of course...
There would be a main prize for the overall winner, and people would get knocked out in rounds building up to the final, we could have six seats set aside for the casual racers, who had been knocked out and just wanted to play, and the other 24 or so for the main comp, with different people competing in different rounds up to the final on the sunday, where everyone could watch and cheer.

Now having an audience is enough to put any top driver off.
Unless they wear their headphones!

food for thought anyway.... lets brainstorm... anyone?

:irked:👍

I really need to get myself along to one of these GT4 Lans. When is the next one and who is running it.

Where will it also be.

It looks like vexd is running it, when and where hasn't been set yet.

vexd, that sounds like a nice structure, the only problem would be, how would it work for people that perhaps can't be there for the whole weekend. To get the best structure you really need to have a good idea how many people you'll have there. Also, if you get a venue sorted, try and get one near a pub and a takeaway if poss ;).

Wow, sounds complicated to administer - Hope your not going to rely on famine and his scraps of paper :sly:

Keep me all updated when the next one has been set. Cracker if you would be nice PM me, when the date has been set.

And maybe you may get to meet me at the next one, but expect i will be racing a lot before a lan like this. To get in more racing lines.

yes dear, whatever.

practice is good.

erm, i had another idea, how about a 24 hour challenge, that starts on the saturday?
imagine that?

some guys/girls actually racing the whole weekend, getting their 24 hour races done, in a spec with all those other people around to drop in and co-drive?

hmmm.....

with a bit of thought, i may be onto something here....

oh yeah, forgot to add, the venue i know is near a pub, you can walk to it in 5 minutes, maybe ten if you stagger, and there is a hotel 5 mins drive away.

and sod this "people can only attend on one day" thing....

if they can, they can, and we'll have a saturday winner, and a sunday winner, and an overall weekend winner.....

lets see what else turns up in this brainstorm....

Could be interesting - a way to get more than 6 players involved in a race 👍

a 24hr race might be pushing it for interest levels. A 1 hour, 2 driver team set-up might be better for those of us with short attention spans :dopey:

With a lot of interest in people attending, are you suggesting having more than 1 (6x terminal) LAN going at the same time?

I've spoken to my IT bod and I can borrow as many 12-port switches (and cabling) and even a few 24 port switches as you want me to.

I figured you could have either two separate LANs running off a single 12-port, or have 1-6 PS2s set up to monitor the other six machines and record races (VCR/VCD/DVD). That would be novel. Or have one machine monitoring the race and stuck onto a data projector, to save people clustering round the drivers.

I'm also deep into car testing at the moment - using B-Spec Barry to eliminate the human element (which said that the S-Type R was slower than the FPV GT) - so I can provide you with car time lists to plan races.

The only problem I can envisage with multi-multi-LANs is memory cards. You're going to need an awful lot of them, with different favourites and network settings. But - as the voice of networking experience now ( ) I can give you as much help as you need setting that up.

This could be utterly kickasssome - though you won't want to record your blood pressure levels as D-Day approaches...

Cracker - Paper doesn't crash... :D

Someones heading for a huge electricity bill....

Famine - i hope your B-spec Barry's good, mine drives like a sales rep' with 12 points on his licence.

Mine has an affection for barriers and walls.

24 hour race sounds tense:P..As long as red bull is available in a steady flow im happy!:D

OMG! I would love to TRY and attend this Vexd, sounds like a real kick. But I'd need quite a bit of time to get some $$ scrapped up tho, perhaps summer '06? And DAMN, UK has some Hotties! RAWR!! LOL. I guess the next step would be to find out how much airfare and hotel would be, here I come priceline!

You and me both should try and make it Jump_Ace!!!
I'd be down for a summer 06' 24 hour LAN party as well! 👍

And as s for the 'hotties' over in the UK...<Ditto! :D>

Do these guys know which UK theyre talking about?

hmmm.....

Anyway, i just have one more exclaimation to make:

Famine, your B-spec driver is called Barry?!!!!1111!!!?????

I thought they came as "Bob" standard in the packaging?

Is that cos you have number 555 of the limited edition boxsets?
Was Barry in there?

I like the level of interest so far, and if we could get people over from the states, all following Koly's directions, that would be great!

I shall have a look at the tariff for the venue and come back with some news, but keep the race ideas coming!

The help from you, Andrew, will be very greatly needed too!
And we can put David in charge of the videos.

Definitely would be a good place to showcase the latest Genome project too, if you have it pulled out of the test-tube by then.

:irked:
What have i gotten myself into!

Yay!👍

About 800 bucks will get you from the West Coast of the USA to Manchester, England. There may be some minor differences for getting closer to the actual venue, but that's a good starting point.

If you're in Chicago or further East, the cost will come down somewhat and it'll be potentially a straight haul (West Coast has to change at Chicago or in Germany).

It's quite a chunk of change, BUT if the event if run next summer or something, I really can't see why it cannot be an obtainable goal; pretty much a standard holiday in many ways.

Heck, if anyone was interested in hanging around England for a few days before/after the event, I'd show people my home town of Chester.

I forgot to upload the last two pictures - one of sukerkin showing off his "madd tyte drift skillz y0!":

They were going sooooo fast they blurred, time for a new lense Famine!

Higher shutter speed for "AAAAAHHHHHHWAAHHH" corner needed please!

Koly, if you got over to manchester, we'd pick you up, and put you up.
Not sure about jump_ace though. :sly:

I may well start an attendance list.

Nice pix Famine, i like the one of EXelero driving one handed round Tokyo, now there's talent!

She looks to be driving none handed to me - and reaching for the handbrake!

vexd - looks like you might be the 'host' of the first 'international' GTParty! - that's a whole lot of responsibility - i reckon that Jordon will ban you if you **** it up :sly:

Have you any vague idea of when it will be?

y0 ... crosses arms and points at the ground whilst wearing an oversized paddock jacket and trainers with tongues up to his knees .

As I said to Exelero at the time, telling the likes of us that we're pretty good at drifting is NOT exactly a compliment :D. I prefer to think of it as power-oversteer with a frisson of opposite-lock :).

I thought 99% of all the girls on GTP were English... all five of them...

Love the pic of Exelero... driving with no hands, now THAT is talent... (And she's still a better racer than me :indiff: ) Maybe I should start driving with my knees

I think Mr The Cracker, that we had better wait till next year now.

Christmas will be buggering everything up in the meantime.

Let me see when Jordan is free, then we'll set a date.
