Who'd want to travel to an International LAN meeting held in the UK?? thats just crazy!

Its a complete dump! ..... there are much better looking places as venues by far ..... myself and Kelly are going to a LAN meeting in Europe again around (May / July 2006) and in my opinion that is something worth shelling out flights and accomodation for 👍 ... But no way I would entice people to travel thousands of miles to come to a $hithole like the UK because no matter whats said beforehand ... they will hate it and see I'm right when they land in this dump! :P

I hope people realise what they are thinking about doing strongly before they spend loads of money arranging to visit a sugar coated $hithole ;) You wont be needing no sunglasses either :D

But after all that I say! if you still want to attend then top marks to you for such commitment .... dont forget your umbrella's

Forgive me if I come across as too harsh but I prefer to call it being realistic and honest!
I will be there also as I'm used to the lovely UK '$hithole or no $hithole' ... it's still my home!
Laters 👍

Well, actually, I was attempting to plan my next vac. there seeing as I've never been and if I could arrange to hit up a GT4 lan party while there...sheez...I'd attend! I think it would be great to not only see the UK and all that is has to offer, but to also meet other GTP members I would otherwise never meet! :D

All that explanation of our great country Ron and not one bobbins!

Maybe we should hold it in another country.

Ill get famine to float the equipment over.

And ill start a poll soon. 👍

They were going sooooo fast they blurred, time for a new lense Famine!

Higher shutter speed for "AAAAAHHHHHHWAAHHH" corner needed please!

Koly, if you got over to manchester, we'd pick you up, and put you up.
Not sure about jump_ace though. :sly:

I may well start an attendance list.

Nice pix Famine, i like the one of EXelero driving one handed round Tokyo, now there's talent!

I couldn't get hold of the camera - so I had to make do with a bobbins one.

Do these guys know which UK theyre talking about?

hmmm.....

Anyway, i just have one more exclaimation to make:

Famine, your B-spec driver is called Barry?!!!!1111!!!?????

I thought they came as "Bob" standard in the packaging?

Is that cos you have number 555 of the limited edition boxsets?
Was Barry in there?

I like the level of interest so far, and if we could get people over from the states, all following Koly's directions, that would be great!

I shall have a look at the tariff for the venue and come back with some news, but keep the race ideas coming!

The help from you, Andrew, will be very greatly needed too!
And we can put David in charge of the videos.

Definitely would be a good place to showcase the latest Genome project too, if you have it pulled out of the test-tube by then.

:irked:
What have i gotten myself into!

Yay!👍

Depending on timing and whether this thing gets off the ground or not i might be able to offer accomodation/food/beers for a couple of people in the midlands area if it helps?
(Thats assuming i get invited :sly: )

I also happen to think that anyone coming over may think our glorious country is actually a bit of a dump....but hey its home for us and they would be coming for the racing right 👍

regards

Dave

The inside of a room is pretty much the same whichever dull/fabulous country you are in - its the quality of the company and the racing that counts.

aha!

well said that dan!

Whether we are racing in a dump or a palace, neither will stop me from beating all of you in a clear and concise manner, unless of course someone good attends :sly:

Dave, of course you are welcome!

Ive been thinking, it may be a good time for the first ever trophy for real to be handed out at a UKGTP.

Ill be round at the engravers soon.

I think, if done right, we could have a really good weekend.

:irked:👍

We could ask Famine to knock us up an MDF podium - the top three could spray the rest of us with Asti Spumanti?

I was thinking more Merlot.

Got to have some class in the UK to fetch the runners from across the ponds.

It would make a great thread for the site, if it were well photgraphed and documented.

I could start a trend.

I am busy irl at the mo, but maybe at christmas ill sit down and formulate a plan. (rubs hands together)

Sounds good, ofcourse you've never seen good until you've seen me, I'm unbeatable at coming last. It'd be great to have it all documented with photo's and stuff, if it's done well enough it could even be worth pointing out to Jordan and having a link put to the thread on the main page or wherever. Just a thought.

So, when's the next one being held?

I'd go if some members i know well are going, and some younger members came - i'm like 10 years behind everyone who went. I'll hide behind gtfan2005 and G.T

I am definately going to the next one - assuming I'm invited, of course.

Everyone's invited silly.

Except EXelero.

And maybe even some people from some other sites may attend.

We'll have to wait and see.

Its one of those things, where lots of people promise to come, but then you get roughly a third of the numbers actually arrive on the weekend.

I'll be leaving this to simmer for a while, to generate some serious interest.

I like the fact that this thread is active though!!

Excellent.

:irked:👍

I had a good idea the other day - i know there's a first time for everything!

This is totally dependent on venue facilities of course, but would'nt it be totally smashing to have a dedicated thread here on GTPlanet that gets updated with race results and photos of the event - as it happens! All it would require is a broadband connection, a laptop and a digital camera.

I know famine did a good job of posting some results and pictures of the last event in this very thread in the week after, but i'm sure it would create great interest online, from those who can't make it next time.

This thread has proved that there's a lot of interest in similar events being staged around the world. It would certainly bring another dimention to the next party.

I WAS going to put it on a webcam, but ran out of bothered... :D

Wait wait wait....now I know GT4 alone *should* be enough to motivate me to go way over to BFE and race but if you start taking away the GiRlZ....bad things happen....lol.

I didnt say she wouldnt be there, i just said i wouldnt be inviting her.

That may change between now and then anyway.

She and i have a love hate relationship, right now we hate each other lol.

Dont worry jerome, girls will attend, though they will be in short supply, and mostly spoken for.

This is about the racing though, right?

Ill spend Christmas sorting this out in my head, and get things rolling into the new year.

Lets see how much interest i can generate.

I still have to draft the "get chips and other important drivers to england F.O.C." thread for funding yet, and that will take time to take off.

hehe

*cough cough* yes mostly about racing...hehehe. ;) This could be a real blast,t hat is for sure! Although I'm nervous about what Ron said earlier about it being a dump or w/e. I'm sure it can't be too bad, hell I DO live in Oregon...hahahaha.

I'd come! Anything for a break from the California sun! ;) Waiting for the snow here......
Actually I'm back in Blighty from Dec 21st to Jan 1st but I won't be bringing the PS2 with me :(
The Missus has too much other stuff to carry! :P

Smallhorses ... I'm back over there myself from the 23rd through 5th! :P I haven't been home in 3 years or so, so I'm really looking forward to topping myself up with some good old English-ness :)

Is there gonna be another one? I could possibly make an appearence..

If 'horses or Kolyana fancy dropping by when they're over, I'd be happy to receive them.

Most kind of you Sir!
I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be down in London at some point during our stay so that my wife can visit her sister in Notting Hill, and much as I'd love to stay and discuss the finer points of handcreme & hair-care products with them :indiff:, a shot at some sensible non-Actively Impassable, GT4 competetion would be really welcome! :P
We'll have been back about 5 days by then, that's long enough for the withdrawal symptoms to set in!!! :nervous:

I'd also be happy to return the favour if you & your good lady happen to be passing through San Francisco too! :D

Thanks Famine ... I'm flying into Manchester and I'mnot sure how mobile I'll be (my entire family being in the Chester and Liverpool area), but I appreciate the invite.

dont display the time koly, or i may just have to turn up at the airport to wave at you!!

manchester isnt that far from me....

everywhere is over 100 miles from me:D

except some parts of kent and brighton....southampton, portsmouth, london, watford....

Ok so not everywhere is 100s miles away. feels like it though. Oh how i wish i could drive, but hey, trains work.!:D
