A livery editor could open up some possibilities, people would be able to create team cars to race online. An improved Arcade Mode with Home Garage, allowing you to select multiple AI opponents similar to PGR4. Maybe that car you want only comes in pink, so you would be able to change to a different color.:)
This, absolutely this. It's more than simply me being allowed to create my own racing identity, so I'm not borrowing some existing driver's race car every single race. It's about allowing people to create teams and team identities and taking them online. When you race in a team, it would be the coolest thing ever to have a livery designed by some talented graphic artist and shared with the others, along with team sponsors' decals.

I just want to be able to create my own identities and fill my garage with them, but this would add one more awesome aspect to online racing and the Gran Turismo online community.

By the way, it seems pretty clear that Q4 2009 stops at midnight, Dec 31st. It doesn't mean GT5 couldn't slip past that, but even Jordan got word if you scroll down the news lists that GT5 would be out before Christmas this year.

just my thoughts on this, third wind is player created courses with a track editor, fifth wind is probably ultimate edition with lifetime subscription to dlc included, kinda goes along with the one fee for unlimited dlc for a year i have been hearing about for the psn

Can you give a link to a source for that info? Does sound quite interesting.

I've just had a crazy thought that I doubt will happen but what if you can buy GT5 with everything included including future dlc's etc. But the lower, cheaper version, is actually prologue but a new update added to it. Some features would be left out of the update compared to GT5 and then you would have to buy them features online. Only a theory.

I would easily go for the full version but it would make sense, kind of. The user has already spent £20 or so buying prologue and then the extra money comes from buying the features online. 💡

Actually the only reason I'm buying forza3 is because of the livery editor, gimme that in GT5 and i'll never ever play another game, ever.

:D

You guys are crazy with this Livery editor. It wont make or break it for me. But thats because I'm in no way shape or form of an artist. If it is in, then I'm bribing some to design me a car :sly:

I remember the first car editor in a game, I believe it was the 1st or 2nd Ridge Racer?

yes I'll hold on to it rsh. if it's in first thing I do is make the most kickass gtp livery ever :P

Then Need for speed underground made it mainstream.

^I think editor was in Rage Racer (Ridge Race 3).

Ahh, it was one of those on the PSX. I remember it was just pixel blocks, but it did the job. I remember making a Batman logo. Now that I think about it, maybe I would use a livery editor...💡

I agree but I suffer enough with connection problems and lengthy matching to have additional personalized "skins" loaded for each opponent :(
Forza has online options such as filtering custom liveries. See how easy that is to fix? ;)

Frankly, same here. After playing the heck out of FM2 and running up against the arbitrary game limit of 360 cars, I lost interest when I couldn't add to it anymore. The oversteer physics didn't wow me, the inferior car models didn't, driver views didn't, horrid tire sounds didn't, lame replays didn't, the bugs sure as heck didn't, especially in the livery editor.

Prologue, however, still wows me.

While I'm sure FW3 will be a nice improvement, I'm only expecting FM2 with a lot more textures, cockpit view, and a rewind button.

If GT5 has race mod and a livery editor, I imagine a lot of other games will be gathering dust.

3rd wind about a track editor is no longer a wind, but a tale now. Probably meaning amar does not have faith in it's fulfillment.

I always thought track editor was a bit too much. I was holding out hope that it was a video editor that not only allowed us to change camera angles on one replay, but edit multiple replays together to create a cool little highlight video, perhaps including any of the songs from the in-game soundtrack.

I know Pain has a replay editor with You Tube uploading, so I didn't feel that was too much of a reach.

Hum...

That's the info as it stands. It's highly unlikely, but within the realms of possibility. It would suck a lot, and I think they'd cop a lot of backlash especially if they didn't state immediately that they plan to flesh it out with DLC. But that's sort of the best lead we have to go on currently.

Guys, I have a theory about the track editor wind. Pure speculation, but hey!

I am wondering if PD have maybe modeled the a lot more of the streets in the areas surrounding the city tracks, making it possible to remove and add barriers to change the route of the course?

A simple track editor would be easy to make. Just empty airfield where you could sparay course layout with white and setup cones. I would give something like that before making a full featured track editor.

Also known as the top gear test track.

No. Top Gear test track has only one layout or have i missed something?

But they could modefy it if they wanted to.

I dont see the trackeditor coming to Gran Turismo 5, i dont know why, but iam very sceptical about it, maybe just because i have never played a game that featured one.

I could imagine PD to introduce some kind of eventbuilder, where you choose the tracks, the cars (or the pp) and some other settings. This could be done online and offline and would be a really good thing.

It has two. The figure of eight test track and a shorter version that doesn't cross over that they did a one gallon race around with supercars to see how far they would get. (Not far.)

The top gear track is made up of parts of airfield. You never noticed the aeroplanes in the background?

It just a big open series of 3 runways and connecting spaces, and in theory is ideal to make up new tracks using a simple track editor.

have a look yourself at the satellite photos

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...17155,-0.536013&spn=0.025215,0.07699&t=h&z=14

But then again, im not even convinced myself yet that a track editor will be incorporated into GT5.
