Tokyo and those 5 sec penalties can eat &*$! - especially when enforced just entering the straight.

I hate this race only because of the stupid 5 seconds. I could take 2 - but 5?

Yeah the 5sec penalties suck. They should lower to 2sec.
But its still better than the variable weather from le mans 700pp.
 
Too lazy to check page 1 again, but are you updating it with your tests and linking to the post (Like Praiano's)?
I usually share tunes when requested, but overall I go like this - put sports mediums on, widebody and every single aero component, then reach 600pp with either an increase in hp or decrease in weight, sometimes I add better brakes/gearboxes, like in the case of most engine swapped cars, since otherwise they wouldn't be competitive at all as a rule of thumb, I don't go with the suspension exploit (you can say whatever you think, but I don't think that in this week's daily A a Lancia Delta with almost 1000hp has any business being 500pp) or change suspensions/differential in general since it would mess with pp a bit too much for my likings.

Another curiosity I'm having now after catching up on the thread - I'm curious if you went back to some of the first reviewed cars that maybe "had more potential" and re-tested them now that your familiarity with the race and track is much, much higher.

Also, you're welcome, I really enjoyed making the reviews but as of now I still think it's a little bit stale as a concept 😅 glad to hear they helped someone achieving better results, or just create entertainment and give a good time.
 
To anyone struggling with Tokyo, used the settings on the video bellow (FM4 and no stops)) and optional TCS1...
Got it done with ease, just have patience and smooth driving..

 
I tried to build a Tundra for this race with the GT500 swap just for fun. I guess the PP system doesn't account for drag because I was nowhere close to reaching the necessary speeds at about 720hp. So I was just able to hang on through the bends, but would lose out big time on the straights.

On the bright side I was able to do the whole race with no fuel management or pitstop. I'm not sure if that adds into the PP calculation, but it wasn't enough to offset the -6 seconds a lap. I would have finished fourth if Gallo in the NSX didn't spin me on the straight.

Even without the win it's a decent amount of credits for a fun drive.

Finally did it in a Nismo swapped Integrale! No wide body mod' to use as much BHP as possible, stage 1 body weight reduction with ballast added to alter the weight distribution and sports mediums amongst various other mods'. The car was reaching 201mph without a slip stream, it's bonkers fast! So happy i finally did it for real!
 
Enjoy doing this with the F40. I can do 2.08 lap times and I’m no expert.

Absolutely beautiful to drive. fm1 with one stop at end of lap seven for fuel.

I’m sure people better than me can shave seconds off of these lap times. Would be keen to see what others can do with it? I can post the tune later if people are interested?

I'd be interested - that's some pretty good times. I'm really pleased with the way my F40 tune handles but it's nowhere near 2:08s (which you're downplaying!)

There’s definitely room for improving the lap times with this tune! And if your anything like me you may want to have two F40’s so you can keep one stock as this tune has weight reductions and everything else.

I can’t take credit for the suspension, I found it on YouTube (AMS KungPao) for a maxed f40 build then adapted it to 600pp for Tokyo. I think it’s amazing. No tcs needed but you can set it to 1 for the first lap which can help lol.

If you set the initial torque to 10 you can hit 600pp exactly but not sure which I prefer yet. You can also set the min speed on the gear box higher which gets an extra few miles an hour down the straight. Again not sure which I prefer as only tried one race set higher.

Also has the front, side and rear wing added.

Edit: Just ran the race again as hasn’t done it for a while and you need to fuel save a bit for around half of lap one then you can fm1 from then on.

I want to share my tune for the Lancer Gr. B.
It's not the fastest in the straight, but it smokes them in the twisty part. High 2:11.
Very fun to drive. FM 1, 0 stop, TC 0. Shift at 6500 rpm, just when the bar start to light.
It's my goto car in this race because it's so fun to drive.

Ironically, the first car I tried turned out to be quite the missile! MR2.

Can do the whole race on FM1 and no pitstop obviously, comfortable 30+ sec win

Yeah the reverse rake is a downer. Buts it’s not there to lower the pp, it’s the same for a maxed out build as it provides so much stability.

Handles like a dream. Does look crap though.
 
Hello, ive been following this thread for a while as i was struggling with this race aswell.

Im only a Driver Rating B player and the frustration was starting to set in as my best results were only in higher end of top 10.

I tried the GT-R, Viper 02, GTO 91, heck even Focus RS but was still not breaking any chance of 1st.

I can now as many others confirm the DP-100 is the car to use :)

Here is my setup:
ECU: 80
Ballast: 200
Ballast positioning: -50
Power restrictor: 94
Sports Hard

This makes me able to get 601bhp on the car with a 599,66 PP rating.

My biggest problem for me also was using automatic gear, after switching to manual and short shifting i was able to complete the race without pitting with still 0.7 fuel lap to go.

I won the race with +50seconds to second place and that was still with a few penalties.

The car is awesome in handling and can still hit around 310km/t on the straight.

Just remember to short shift and have patience, once youre around lap 6-7 and the AI starts pitting you will lead the race without problem.

Keep at this race for a bit. I was in same boat as you and could only win with Alpine (RIP Tomahawk) race car, but after really getting my times down using it, I decided to try some from the posts in here and I think the difference is knowing the driving line, break points and entry points. Once you have that down, you can win with a TON of different cars - plus, the rubberbanding on this race is strong both faster and slower depending on your car and performance. Using Alpine, AI gets <2:09 laps; using Mazda Touring Car, which is a blast on this track, AI get's ~2:12-2:13 top laps. You can win if you finish race <28-mins.
 
Done this thrice today. On a quest to do it with as many cars as possible!

  • Non Swapped RX-7 w/ High RPM Turbo.
  • Bone Stock AMG SLS '17
  • Porsche 911 GT3 '09 with aero and a few bolt ons but mainly ballast, not for PP, for weight distribution.

The Porsche was the least powerful but returned my best second and third sector times - the grip in the corners is unlike anything I've used so far; surprising as I think the RR cars are turd. Ballast is a God send.

The 5 second penalties are what keep the event engaging TBH. I don't think I'd enjoy the event as much if they weren't in place.

The AI on Tokyo,the last 7 races,all seem to be on a mix of SM or SS,with a few on SH.When Gallio starts hes on SS and changes to fresh SS tyres.Im pretty sure when i first started running the Tokyo race,ages ago,most of the ai were running SH,and changing to fresh SH especially Gallio.Or maybe i didnt notice so much then as now.

I still don't see the "variable" weather in LeMans that others mention. Every time I do it, it's rain after 2 laps. Sure, sometimes it comes at the end of lap 2 and sometimes it starts near the beginning of lap three, but it's always about the same within 20-30 seconds.

Start on Racing Hard - Go to Full Wet - Switch back when the weather clears for the last lap or two.

I always noticed that they were on a mix. They always keep the same tires though. I have never seen any of them go from soft to hard, for example.

It seems impossible to squeeze more than 180MPH out of the Amemiya; nevertheless, I scored a second place before winning it at the second attempt.

The Amemiya on SMs is just incredible but because of the default aero, presumably, there's very little spare PP to increase the power on SHs let alone SMs once you've added the Racing Transmission (in an attempt to increase the top speed) and/or the High RPM Turbo (wish I had the Ultra High).

As I say, won it but by virtue of a short one stop, needing only 2 laps of fuel courtesy of short-shifting to keep in the power band, and using SHs. I personally couldn't do it on outright pace but a combination of supreme handling, excellent consumption and superb default brakes enabled me to stay in the fight and essentially pick off the frontrunners as they pitted.

Brief taster with the SMs is tempting me to run it again - I'm thinking to remove the High RPM Turbo for SMs, and add the Racing filter, header, intercooler and muffler instead. I won't have the pace but the exceptional handling leads me to believe I stand a chance with about 395HP on SMs compared with around 470+ on SHs. Up for the challenge.
