As long as the TV stuff doesn't increase the price too much I won't care, I just won't use it. If that and the forced Kinect however force the price much higher than the PS4 then my decision at least which to buy first will be easy. I'm not paying extra for a games console for features that have nothing to do with gaming.

The odd thing is that I was mostly certain that they would announce a new Halo Game, not TV show.

I also find it odd that from the 15 titles to be release at launch "later this year" they only had footage from 2 of them, 1 of them mostly CGI while the other was mostly WIP, considering how development goes it amazes me that all these 13 games didn't had alpha or tech demos given the time-frame and supposed release schedule.

I'm waiting waiting for Sony's PS4 announcement where they're going to announce some of the same functionality regarding media and it'll be excused for whatever idiotic reason.

If we can "rent" games from Microsoft I am perfectly fine with that.

The next Xbox won't require an Internet connection to function, but could very well block used games, unless you feel like paying Microsoft some extra cash. Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc.

On the plus side, you can now output the video from your Xbox directly back into the Xbox so you don't have to look at it. 👍

Oh dear... just hope it doesn't end in an electrical short. Probably Microsofts new answer to the RROD.

Going off the reactions in here, I'm guessing this announcement was a disappointment to many of you?
Well, the vast majority of the features and games (with the exception of FM5) they've announced is of no interest to me. At all. E3 is where it's at, obviously. I'm excited to see what they have up their sleeves and if it's worth buying.

Edit:
If all that is indeed true, forget what I've just said above.

They're focusing more on gaming than trying to revolutionize fantasy football.

What's the thing you're waiting to hear about the PS4 to call BS on? Voice controlled Netflix that you don't have to pay to access through the system for?

Group movie watching?

I'm still not convinced. The PS4 evidently has better hardware under the hood, including 4K support for films and photos. Considering the X1's focus on being an entertainment hub, I'm surprised 4K isn't supported. The games showcased were pretty bad, I was remotely interested in FM5, but the trailer made it look more like NFS Shift, certainly didn't look like a simulator (I doubt Forza is the highest rated racing game, as the trailer stated, *cough* GT *cough*)

If these new IPs are any good, I may pick up an X1, but I'm not holding my breath.

Noooo, it was very promising if you wanted a new TV service or wanted to see a new COD trailer.

About the same CPU, we don't really know about the GPU.

XBOX ONE does have 4k support.

What matters is E3 is going to be awesome.

Xbox one against Playstation 4, FM5 against GT6, new IPs, good news about the Wii U around that time (finally) and hopefully some news about inputs and support of older ones. Straight comparisons, straight competition.

What? I don't understand.

There's not much to understand, it's just a dumb joke. But I will try to elaborate anyway:

Instead of hooking the Xbox One's output up to a TV, you hook it up to its own input. Now you don't have to look at the horrible output yourself... the Xbox One does it for you, leaving you free to do other things, such as play PS4.

Yeah and you sadly missed my edit.

The instant switching to TV through voice control scares me.

I've played Call of Duty. I have no desire to switch to watching porn in the middle of an online game.

You keep saying that avoiding what the real issue is. It was a DVR announcement more than a games console announcement. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Microsoft booth at E3 this year just has a bunch of TVs showing off the games in demos, some hopefully playable, but then the center of attention being a demo where you get to ask the X1 to turn on and switch channels, possibly throwing your arm in an NFL quarterback gesture in order to instantly switch to the sports channel.

They went on about television far too long, I agree. However it was a new part of the console and they obviously wanted to try and show it off since no other company currently has this feature.. They announced the specs and the amount of exclusives they will have but if they had just focused on games it would have been a very short announcement! Plus with E3 around the corner the developers wouldn't have wanted Microsoft stealing all of their thunder for their announcement.

If you're all about not caring how you get your content as long as you want it in your posts here, why don't you just get a home media optimized PC and a nice DVR?

I never said anything about not caring how I get it, I used to have a decent DVR setup at my old house but where I live now we can't get a good enough television signal to make it worth having one.

And if you're just about the games, you have to admit all of this other stuff they're trying to force down your throat will be annoying fluff in the 'Box' you have to ignore all the time in order to get said games.

I imagine you can do what you can do with the current console; put the disc in and press play. If the television aspect provides Freeview channels with a guide through the internet then I'll be chuffed to bits but if not I won't find it hard to ignore it just as I don't find it hard to ignore the current excess 'fluff'.

If you think Sony is going to sit idly by and let Microsoft lay claim to the exact same thing they're trying to do, then I don't know what to tell you.

And you mention fantasy football as if it were the only thing they focused on. Yes, an overwhelming portion of the conference was TV-centric, but after they already announced it was going to be a two-part reveal what were you expecting?

If you or anyone else were expecting a cluster of game reveals after the fact, then, again, I don't know what to tell you.

They'll surely give us the option to turn it off. They must...
