The instant switching to TV through voice control scares me.

I've played Call of Duty. I have no desire to switch to watching porn in the middle of an online game.

You've got a awesome sense of humor  👍

Ok it was destiny my and Forza Motorsport series will never meet.
Microsoft asking a fee for used games?
Here's my middle finger.

With cloud computing I do think 500GB will be enough.

Yeah, do you really trust storing your private info elsewhere? Would you keep your personal important information at your neighbor's house? Don't believe the hype. Especially when companies cannot be sued for violating your privacy.

If it was destiny, as you suggest, then why are you disappointed?

Genuine query.

If you think Sony is going to sit idly by and let Microsoft lay claim to the exact same thing they're trying to do, then I don't know what to tell you.

And you mention fantasy football as if it were the only thing they focused on. Yes, an overwhelming portion of the conference was TV-centric, but after they already announced it was going to be a two-part reveal what were you expecting?

If you or anyone else were expecting a cluster of game reveals after the fact, then, again, I don't know what to tell you.

Exactly. This conference was about showing what's new to the Xbox One. Everyone already knows it will play games. Everyone knows what a lot of those games will be. Why would they focus on stuff everyone knows, when they can announce features that are not only new to the Xbox console, but new to any console?

It's hardly like we don't know that it will play games. They announced some hardware specs, so we can guess at what those games will look like, and they even showed a few games to give us an even better idea. This wasn't a game announcement, it was a console announcement; they spent their time announcing the console and everything it can do. Why cover ground that's already known, especially with the world's largest game announcing vehicle only 20 days away?

Sure, us on this site might be disappointed that more games weren't shown, but look at this objectively. This announcement wasn't just for us, the core gamers, it was for everyone, and I would bet that there's a fair number of people who're excited about the new features they announced.

Sony already didn't spend the entire thing hyping up games that are not, in fact, exclusive to the system. Why talk up the 15 exclusive games and then not show any of them in any real capacity, instead focusing on games that are by definition going to come to everything else too?

Seriously Toko? After all the heat you've been giving people about judging what little we've seen of GT6 you come out with this gem after watching a minute long rendered trailer?

Simon, SIMON. Calm down I took it back, it was just a CGI-teaser nothing more. Holy damn is like you hunt me down or something... :irked:

High point of my day right there.

I think the main thing you can take on board from these reveal presentations is the philosophy behind the machines. With the PS4 it's clear Sony wants to win over developers and address the criticisms of PS3, namely that it was too hard to code for. They gave the impression of wanting to go back to basics and give us plenty of what it's all about: games.

Microsoft seems to be taking the kitchen sink approach and jump on bandwagons with key words like 'social' and 'integrated'. This doesn't mean the console will have less games or be less dev-friendly, but it does provide an indication of their focus. It seems a gimmick-heavy machine and I expect them to try and cram all those gimmicks into their games as well. They've got Kinect in there and that means they're going to use it. I don't know about most of you, but that doesn't exactly sit well with me.

So you don't use PayPal, PSN Store, any form of online banking, Amazon.com, or any online retailer ever then? Let alone subscribe to magazines, or newspapers. And let's not start on television subscriptions, utility bills, car payments, or anything like that...
Gotta keep that personal information 100% in your own hands, right?

Or else they will face a swath of lawsuits.

No they won't. CISPA and SOPA and whatever Internet regulations to "stop piracy". Companies are protected from suits for snitching on their customers.

I think Microsoft did not organize this event well, Lets give Infinity Ward alot of time on Call of Dootay, and lets talk about Talking to your xbox and t.v and Skype.

Sony organized alot better then Microsoft imo.

They sell sizzle, because that's all they've got. At least they will have 8 new IP's this gen. I'm still not going to the dark side.

The point was to Famine's comment. It was to play on the joke he made.:indiff:

They did show tech demos that may or may not even come to fruition as actual titles, which if I can recall correctly, people were furious at as well - it was a demonstration, what were you expecting?

But that's neither here nor there. I assume they talked it up as a high point because E3 is only 19 days off. Leaves you wondering what the exclusives are.

Conversely, if they hadn't mentioned them at all people would have been all "Well, where are the exclusives?!"

You mean how Sony wanted to be the centerpiece of livingrooms a while back? Don't think they really care for that anymore. So they're sitting idly, gladly I'm sure.

But nope, I wasn't expecting a huge line-up of games at all. They covered the games just as I thought they would. What I was expecting was for them to describe how XBL has improved a lot more, and the hardware. They only glanced over such things.

But they did sort of kick things off talking about how this is just the start, so maybe we should expect the launch version to be a bit on the scarce side with features, but with lots of big updates planned in the near-future.

Anyway, Sony has left that idea behind because they know it's not worth going into. Sony will have immense focus on gaming, supporting developers, indies very much so as well, not just trying to buy them out. Microsoft just seems to want the Xbox to sell you

I tend to agree with this article:

Can someone update the very first post with pictures of the console along with all the specs and info we know so far? I am sure many would appreciate that. :)

Just a quick question here, not just for you, but for all the "keep Kinect out of the core" people out there.
Have you ever actually used Kinect other than like a 2 minute demo on some kiddie game? Have you played with it enough, and thought about its application enough to really understand the possibilities it represents?

Kinect could, if done right, be a massive innovation in core gaming. The possibilities of combining it with the functionality of a controller are pretty exciting if you think about them. It would hardly be the apocalypse if more devs started playing around with it...

Because I was waiting for that. Now even if Forza 5 is good I'm gonna boycott Microsoft because I hate that extra fee on used games. I will not buy a new console just for playing Forza 5.

I boycotted iRacing and SimRaceWay because I didn't like their business scheme. I'll probably boycott RaceRoomRacing Experience as well because SimBin want to charge people even for bloody liveries. Seriously, no way. So, currently waiting for Assetto Corsa, GT6, Project Cars and rFactor 2. Sounds enough.

Its basically Microsoft's way of making money on every transaction involving their games. What they could do (they won't) is have user keys like computer programs, but they won't.

500GB doesnt sound large neough if every game will be 'ripped' to the HDD automatically

500 GB is what I have in my current PS3. This won't be large enough for the X1.

I wasn't expecting much of anything, nor do I expect much for any of these publicity stunt presentations. That Micorosoft squirreled what is probably the biggest thing about the system into a glossed-over news release after the show (much like Sony did) says a lot more than the impossibly positive outlook that they attempt to make a big deal out of.

Any place I can watch the whole thing again? I missed it.

Thanks.

You haven't missed anything. Here's something to sum this things up.

- Looks like VCR
- has Internet TV and Skype, can you believe that?
- cannot play used games

tl;dr

Buy a PS4 and be happy

A fee to play used games does not bother me at all. In fact I wonder if they will add the feature I have been talking about for a long time. A feature that will allow you to rent games on the xbox. Similar to renting movies, but games. Also similar to Gamefly. Sounds like they are leaning toward that. I am sure they will clear up all the confusion at E3. I rent most of my games so hopefully its good news about used games.

That has not been confirmed. In fact it says you will have to pay Microsoft if you play used games. So it will probably work like an online pass. Not sure if you heard but EA dropped the online pass. This might be the substitute.
