Thrustmaster T-GT Wheel Thread

It turns out T-GT is simply GT branded PS4 version based on TS-PC and isn't direct drive. I feel...

Do you guys think its worth upgrading from a G29 to the TGT? Its still 500 bucks, but i think it was never cheaper. Would like to hear the thoughts of someone who experienced both wheels. And yeah, my G29 still works fine, so its a tough call.

If your G29 still works fine, then no, save your money for next gen consoles' wheels.

What the T-GT has over G29 is the rotary dials as that allows you to make quick adjustments in tight online racing situations. But then the G29 already has buttons on the wheel face which can be remapped to the same purpose. The FFB while technically "better" is subjective (myself I prefer the Logitech FFB) and doesn't improve your laptimes dramatically if you're already a fast driver. T-DFB is a gimmick. The pedals are woeful - I use the Ricmotech adapter to plug in my old G25 pedals instead. Build quality and reliability is anyone's guess with Thrustmaster but my T-GT wheel rim is already flaking off its faux leather in some places after only 1 year (my G25 only start to do so after 5 years).

If it's a $500 wheel I would still be on the fence upgrading. But for a $1000 wheel, no way.

I made the same upgrade from G29 to T-GT. And for me it was worth the upgrade. FFB is smoother and more powerfull. I also think the ecosystem is a plus for me. Fantec is also a great option though.

Isn't it appropriate to say:

Low-range wheels (under 200€)
T150

Mid-range wheels (200-250€)
G29
T300

Premium wheels (500-700€)
T500 (correct me if i'm wrong)
TGT
TSPC
Fanatec CSL

High-end wheels (800€+)
Fanatec Clubsport
Direct-drive wheels

I always considered the TGT to be on a different level then G29 or T300, yet many people compare it directly to the T300 and say that it might be not a big difference. The price-point alone should tell us otherwise, but maybe this doesn't mean anything?

Thats incorrect though. The TGT/ts-pc/xw are more powerfull and higher end then the T300.

He isnt very negative either and mostly positive. I do think he makes an effort to provide information and give an unbiased view.
The thing that surprised me the most from his review was his view on GTS's tyre model, to the point of suggesting iRacing and other titles should implement a similar slide feel to that of GTS.

Sure thing. But i watched his G29 review too and he seemed to like this wheel just as much as the TGT. This always troubles me a bit because of the price difference. Made me doubt once again if i really should switch to the TGT.

Has anyone tested the T-GT with Gran Turismo 5 or 6 on the PS3 on "Other" mode? I'm really curious if the games recognize the wheel as a T500/T300.
I just tried on GT 6 in 'other' mode and while the buttons are recognized for some things, steering inputs, throttle and brake aren't :(.

I figured there would be compatibility issues. Thanks for investigating. Also, the T-GT rim can be used on other Thrustmaster bases since it's detachable, right?

Yes it is detachable but I have no idea if it can be used with other bases, sorry. It can't be purchased without the base though.

I've just switched my T-GT on after a few months of not using it, and it won't calibrate? It moves a little, then starts making tiny little movements in one direction, then back the other.
All plugs are in and tight.
Any ideas?

Could you guys help me out real quick? I have just connected the wheel to the TGT base and tightend the quick release. Now, there is a screw i have to turn, but i cant get it completly in. Do i have to screw it 100% tight to the quick release?

Nah, you will damage the plastic like that. Just screw it till the end, but don't tighten it. As long as "quick release" mechanism doesn't turn, you are good to go.

Right now it looks like this. Is this good to go?

I just received the T-GT today to replace my T500rs. With my T500 I never bothered to update the firmware but with the T-GT I want to load it with the latest firmware. Is this possible without a windows machine available?

Unfortunately no. Do you have any friends with a Windows laptop? Maybe someone could bring it to your place to update it.

I just hooked it up to my ps4 but it does not do anything. It does not calibrate, like my T500 did... it just moves back and forth for half a centimeter...

Make sure the wheel is really tightened properly to the base, and give it a good whack on the big GT logo.
I had the exact same thing, and it seems the connector between the wheel and base might be a touch temperamental.

Hit it with force? I pushed it on as hard as I could and then tightened it as tight as possible. I don’t want to have to smack my wheel everytime I want to use it.

I’m going to ship it back to amazon for replacement...
