I have a 1:48.405 with my all around tune already , just adapted the gearbox to to track.
I don't like the way PD allow full power mini weight on those tyres.
Don't need to set the car on a perfect balance , just need to tame and kill it just to let it drivable with this crazy tuning.
I don't know if i will wpend time on this. It's a bit boring.

Oof that porsche is a bit tasty at max power! Tried a few different tunes including changing power - my times are always the same at 1:54! But then again i don't know what im doing (tuning or driving!)

1:47.847. , still room but i will not spend time on it . No driving pleasure for me.
Here is the quick tune. Very quick.
Good luck.

Ride height mm 78. 83

Cos the majority of people generally want to go fast, not sideways.

I see a jugdement here, no?

I'm a race player too, but sometimes after serious, I want to play cool.
When you look all drift lobbies, if you remember the number of players participating to gt6 drift events...
So, your "the majority of people" means "me", not all.

A large part of drift players are fast drivers too, it's not a seperate kind of players (I'm an exemple).

Thanks for the tune -took 4 seconds off to achieve a mid 1:49! Happy with that, it seems to sit me 25th at the moment tho i don't really believe it? And won a 512BB on the wheel for my troubles.

Edit: another 20 laps and im down to 48.7 with more to come. So frustrating though trying to get the power down

Surprisingly the Porsche is not as bad as I thought. Just gotta get used to the power oversteer at low speed which can then become understeer due to weight transfer to the rears. The brakes leave a lot to be desired though  One thing I really miss in GTS is ability to upgrade brakes. Once again, I'd much prefer if PD limits the power and weight to something more reasonable.

Tried both Colombia and praiano's tunes, I slightly prefer the former. It's a bit more unstable but suits my driving style better. I can get quicker rotation into the slower corners and hence unwind the steering sooner to stabilise the car for acceleration.

I really don't know how PD set the parameters of his stock settings for each car , but it's easy to check and feel that the settings window amplitude for a spring , damper or ARB... Is too narrow and don't allow to change drastically the behaviors of a car.
That's is why i often reach the limits of the settings bars on my cars ;).
If PD want to send me a PS5 x GT7 x VR , i promess i will do the job for free and keep it secret .

Easy for you maybe :P I have no idea how you guys manage to find the "sweet spot" for the values so quickly. My tuning method is just slam everything to the ground, max hardness spring/damper/ARB, max downforce and work from there  The only thing I can tune well is gears, because the results are objective.

Regarding the Renault, I was referring to the fact that the ride height and dampers seem to be tuned for more oversteer (higher rear), whereas the springs and camber more for understeer (softer rear and higher rear camber). It seems a bit counterintuitive for me because the elements seem to be fighting one another, but hey if it works, it works :P

P.S. I just realised the last page of this thread is always page 8. Seems like the older posts gets archived, just like the daily races thread. Sneaky mods :P

I've driven the Group C cars and it's different to driving them in Arcade Mode. There is just no grip. No downforce going into T2.

Autopolis is one of my favorites tracks and I know it well. I also use the Group C cars often. Something is amiss.

Anyone has any estimate of the pace difference between the R18 and Hyundai VGT? I don't have a R18 so I've been using the Hyundai in Autopolis and was wondering what the lap time difference between the 2 may be... Nothing serious, I'm at 1:36:1.....

Tested, I would say that to me H VGT is 0.5-1 sec slower than R18. R18 has better brakes and acceleration, but also much harder throttle control.
Hyundai is easy on the throttle, but brakes are, well you need to start braking 50m sooner.
My R18 time is 1:32.985 and H VGT 1:33.858

Time to get down to business then...
GR.1 at Autopolis, first up the Jaguar XJR-9. :D

First thing I had to do, work out the braking point at the end of the main straight (just where the orange bit of metal rail is on the left hand side) and just before the u turn half way (2 boards from the turn on the right hand side).

After that a couple of sighter laps and I'm off...

Lap time comes down to 1m42.005.
Reckon I can go faster than that, and I did!
Very next lap ...

Jaguar XJR-9 - 1m42.004

Mr Consistency or what

EPISODE 2 - The last Mazda 787B - can certainly feel the force (feedback) with this one. Just handles so much cleaner than the Jaguar. No surprise then that the time was...:

Mazda 787B - 1m40.911
Porsche 962C - 1m39.979
Sauber Mercedes C9 - 1m39.430
Audi R18 2016 - 1m36.970 :D

Super fast !

Although I just did 1m39.979 ...

Admittedly, that was in a different car (962C) on a different track (Autopolis) :sly::lol:

PS if anyone else is doing times of around 1m40 on Autopolis and is around my *low* skill level, send me a FR to cutback73

Thanks Friend ... If the Tracks are Different and not even talk about the Cars ... In these Tests

Tried the Sauber C9 and got time down to 1m39.430. Some of this is possibly due to increasing familiarity with the track (racing lines, braking points etc) however the Sauber does feel more responsive, than the other cars used so far, turning into corners making it easier to string laps together and get consistently better times.

I'm back up to 11,100th ish which is (just barely) in the top half.

I will run the R18 2016 tomorrow for comparison as this seems the car used by everyone at the top of the leaderboard.

Last run for this time trial...

Audi R18 2016 - 1m36.970

2.5 seconds faster than any of the older cars and probably could have gone quicker with more laps.

Up to 7,271 in the rankings which sneaks me into the top third :D
