OK, reading some of the comments I’m going to try ASM for this Time Trial and the 917 License Test. Already have Gold in each event. But interested to see if time can be gained.

From a pure driving enjoyment perspective I turn ASM off. But this is competition!

Managed to massively improve my time from a 2:15.2 to a 2:14.5. Very happy with that for now! That should hopefully be a safe gold.

@KCR my experience with Dualsense. Allow me to go back long in time, when I was driving Colin McRae Rally, I was using steering wheel from Microsoft. Life took some path and I was not playing for like 20 years. In the beginning of year I got ps4 pro and started playing GT Sport, on controller. I realised that after I used steering wheel for some time, even if it was long time ago, getting used to stick on controller, was a challenge for me. One thing in particular was when I hit some curve and I sense I am losing rear end, I kinda had hard time to correct it with stick. I realised that gt sport had also motion steering and decided to try. It took some time and I said to myself, it's like going to gym, first work out will not make me fit, but I need to repeat it many times.
With this long intro, I am not going back to stick and for now not considering getting steering wheel either. I got ps5.
I find it easier for me to angle curve and correct steering when needed. I can drive 1000km a day and not get tired (read again what I said about going to gym 😁)

I do however need to point out, there is a bug in motion sensor steering!!! In some combos of track and car, example Fuji Time trial with SF19, steering just get shaky for some reason. Try if you want, use cockpit view, that was previous time trial, maybe it works for you, but it looks like it's bug, but we know PD, impossible to send a bug report.
I hope I answered your question, even if it was a bit long, but I felt background story contributed to explanation.
Thanks for the detailed answer! Sounds like it is a case of practicing.
Whether I would be able to overcome the initial drawback from stick input is likely the issue, but I am thinking to give it a try on some casual race against the IA first.

Ahh I had another go last night for an hour. Probably doesn't help that I was streaming it and chatting to my mates at the same time. Got to a 2:13.0 on about 4 laps, but didn't beat my best. I forgot to try the ASM as well. Must try that on Friday.

Was quite happy with a 5 lap run all in the 13s though. Straight from a retry as well so first lap didn't have the delta to see how I was doing.

2:13.802
2:13.436
2:13.047
2:13.260
2:13.367

Convinced I can do a 12.5

Y’all are aliens lol, I feel like I’m close to maxing out at 2:16. I figure I’m losing time in either the first set of corners or maybe in the twisty bit after the first tunnel.

Also, seems you can apply aero parts to your car but I’m pretty sure BoP removes the effect, right? Downforce is set to default values so I imagine they’re just cosmetic then.

Much of the time can be gained in the first section and by not getting on the power too early and washing out. Easy to gain a couple of seconds just from momentum and stringing together a few sections.

Worth watching a fast lap on YouTube.

Don't really like these low powered street cars on street tires, but whatever. Figure I can get at least 250k or maybe million if I spend some time. Ran a dozen or so laps and got it down to under 2:20. Stopped and backed out of time trial (no rage quit or turning off the game or anything). Says my record is 4:56.630. WTF? What a waste of my time. Do these people even play their own game? If they did, they would know what's wrong. Somebody at PD owes me 250,000 credits.

Back in gold, got 2:14:2 on a lap I was kind of happy with - no big mistake, pretty smooth.
Then I watched P1 replay... Clearly I have no clue what I am doing.

The GT website has placeholders for upcoming ones, next week is the Skyline Super Silhouette on Red Bull Ring - looking forward to it!

Then Gr4 on Dragon Tail - a bit of an overused combo I think.

Then Gr2 on Interlagos.

Can you give a link ?

There's a bug
WARNING!!!

Don't go into any other race before you do the time trial. There's a bug. I did the time trial, then did Race A. My Race A qualifying time remained as "my current best" and new time trial times did not update my actual current best time. And, no, unfortunately, your race A qualifying time from race A is not used as your current best ;)...at least not that I have seen so far.

Only half a tenth to get to the 2:11.XXX Zone... But for the life of me I simply can't even get close to it anymore. Another 60km or so today and the best I could was getting my car like half of its hood ahead of my own best Ghost time until the final chicane to just bottle it and lose like 2 tenths in it...

I think this is going to be my final time, which is enough to be in the top 100. 2:12.051

Settings:

All assists OFF aside from ABS (on weak)
DualSense with sensivity at +10
Right Analog stick for Throttle/Brake
R2+L2 for Shifting/Downshifting (used Manual Transmission of course)
Chasecam / 3rd person view

Why abs weak ? All top players use default. You losing time because of it.

First, compliments for all those putting in gold times!
I am a mere B rated player on a controller. Yet I put in a 2:16:xx on my second lap, a second better than the time needed for silver.
Is this easy money earned, or am I missing something?

Well it's easier than two previous TT. I am C driver, controller motion sensor automatic transmission and I got gold, so I am sure you can get it too.

I don’t really like this one. Slow and boring car, this Civic. Just doing the bare minimum for gold which is easy here given the slow pace of the car.
