Updated settings by @sdi_03 made the difference, maybe not especially in the handling department (my wonky button steering habits are beyond repair), but the low-end torque supercharger created extra boost on the exits out of corners, provided there is grip instead of slide.
The gold is pretty much guaranteed, but here we are in the place where the mind games begin. The optimal is 28 flat, so thoughts begin to circulate: "it is possible to run that kind of lap, those are mine personal best sectors", additionally "there's a ton of errors that can be ironed out and we could be inside 27s!"

Been meaning to get involved in this thread, but......life.
Currently got 2 gold's - on main and alt account ( 1.28.989 and 1.28.940). Both times set last Thursday after improving over the week. Now at the stage where I cannot get under 1.29.3. Similar to the last time trial - improve for a week and then cannot get close to best times set.
Times are ranked in the 3,800's and the 3.400's - dropped 600+ places since they were set - but my highest ranking's to date. I used to be happy with 20,000.
Got "hooked" on the time trials during Daytona - where after 2 weeks of frustration and fun, I got a gold. So the info above also adds to @half_sourly prognosis that for tuning time trials, using this forum is a benefit.
Using The Kie's tune, and a big shout out to @Mistah_MCA whose ghost I have been following in vain.
Thanks for all the posts here - they have helped me be in gold at this point. And they also increase and keep my interest in having fun in GT7.

For some reason, I'm really struggling with this Time Trial and I'm falling down my friends list, even owning this Mustang in real life for over 4 years hasn't helped

There's a bit more in there but quite happy with that so far. That's with sdi's original tune, adjusted by W1ggly. Ish. Had to change power settings a bit with those non removable parts. Might give it some more attempts with sdi 2.1 and MuZZleToDD's.

This has been a fun TT - in the evil-fun kind of way. “Oh, great job Saargasm! You’re on pace for not only PB, but that gold you’ve been chasing! Would be a shame if you braked too late on the last hairpin (insert evil laugh 😈)”

So close yet so far. I improved from 1:29.422 to 1.29.188, which great, but I’m still 0.077 off the gold time. I’m posting my lap replay - maybe there is something that is an obvious and easy fix?
PB didn’t have a single best sector! Worse was the pain two laps later though! Look at the delta through S2 - it’s like on the one hand I want to know my live time delta but I wish it would magically disappear when I’m up after S2 😂😂 I get too anxious and either push too hard or err too cautiously like I did on lap 48 going way too slow on the right hander and then braking too much on the hairpin

NEW PB AND FIRST GOLD!! 1:29.092 - 0.019 ahead, which means might as well try to improve it a notch or so less I be naive and hope the aliens don’t outdo themselves lol

Well, got to go away for a bit, did my best to get under my PB of 1:34.xxx, no joy. Currently at 9.66%..... this has happened before, went away with a bronze, came back and found the Aliens had pushed me out of the medals! Got a funny feeling that might happen again! Good luck to you all!

Well, after my post above, I decided to keep going, and with another 100 miles under my belt, I suddenly began to master this track and took a whole second out of my time to get a low 1:28.2xx and I couldn't have done it without the help from this thread, and @sdi_03 tunes, so thanks everyone.For some reason, I'm really struggling with this Time Trial and I'm falling down my friends list, even owning this Mustang in real life for over 4 years hasn't helped

Finally made it into the 27's, god i'm pround
I was seriously nerveous at the end of the lap, the last breakingpoint got me all warm and hartpounding
Fully struggling the whole lap to keep the car on track, some of the key corners i drifted quite a lot, so think i could get even lower but don't know were to find the time to try.
Thanks again for this awesom tune, without it i wouldn't be 27", keep it up!
@Dan_Tes I spended almost 2 whole days to make my kitchenwall, so the wife is happy, when i was done i hopped in the GT "15 and drove this, ........ life is good
Lots of room for improvement, but damn i'm proud

Little by little, the time continues to come down. 1:27.647. Still not enough to top some of the others here...

The tune that finally got me sub 3% was a combination of @sdi_03 and @Mistah_MCA along with tweaks to gear ratios. Also key was having brake bias 1 to rear (which is not in the screen grab below).

Nice lap man!! This makes me so happy, you did it!! It’s funny that succeeding in the real world gave you the extra boost to improve in the time trial.. I’ll have to try this technique sometimes 😁

Well I had my last 15 minutes to spend on this (would have been 20 but I spent 5 on the livery to express how I feel about the car).
Was 1/2 second down on a 1:26.9 ghost then completely #%%% the last corner. Still managed to chip down my best to just under 2%. It’ll have to do.

Not sure how I didn’t find these online TT earlier (although I’ve only had GT7 for a couple of months) so only been at this for a couple of hours. Thanks to @sdi_03 for the very drivable tune, I’ve managed to get down 1:29.194 and have a 28.8 in me if I add all the splits up. Some outstanding times being thrown down that I can’t even comprehend!

This morning went for a new PB, not by much, but it's something,
Went from 27.892 to a whopping 27.865
But this morning corner T6 wasn't my friend anymore, i noticed i am the fastest if i throw the car into it, but if i'm to soon i'll be send to Jupiter by the sausage, and when i'm to late i'll be sand-mowing
it's quite a thin line between total failure and sticking it, and failure on T6 means restart..
But i love this combo so much with this online battle between mortals and aliens
I can clearly state that this forum has made me better in game, tunes, tips etc helps a lot with getting to a descent time!

I am simply incapable of driving this car...even after sdi provided me a saddle for the horse, I couldn't get anywhere near the 1:28 border. Gold is secured now, but I do wanna try to get sub 28 at least.
So much for that.It seems my original time from the 17th will be enough for gold...I'll still keep an eye on it for these last few days, but I'm glad the aliens didn't improve much more. The less time spent in that berserk horse, the better.
