The new time trial has unexpectedly uncovered a category where I am stronger than any other GT7 driver.

I can safely say, without fear of being contradicted, that I HATE tuning events more than any player in the history of the game. I can’t even see the second ranked player in my mirrors.

It feels good to be number 1.

Awesome stats!!! Thanks for compiling them! Interesting that Suzuka was harder than the last one! I certainly felt the opposite!

One thing that would be cool to add - percentage of players who have got gold on every challenge.
You're welcome.

Agree that would be cool (partly because I'm one of them), but again the nickname use makes it close to impossible. Just in this last one with only 2217 golds, there are 3 Sennas, 2 Dereks, 2 Ryans, 2 Sams and even 3 of J. Itkonen! Figuring out which Senna is which is one thing. Then figuring out if one of the Sennas in gold this time is the same as one of the 30 Sennas in the last one, of which 10 were in gold, could not be done. Pity, because it would be a good stat.

Sorry for the double post but just checked out the leaderboards. The top guy is 2.8seconds faster than 2nd place

I'm not sure if having the option to tune the car was a good idea specially considering the PP system is so broken... Pretty sure the top guys are gonna exploit the system in every possible way. And I'm sitting here with no clue what to do setup-wise...

Don't think I can keep up my gold streak anymore but we'll see (:

For anyone looking for a tuning startpoint, this is as good as you’ll find

that’s for 600pp, so you can change the tyres, put the ECU back to 100, etc

It's not using PP, so its fine.

It's still early doors so there's going to be a discrepancy in times as people work out tunes and lines. We're only a few hours in and the track being so long amplifies these effects.

Well, both accounts in gold for the RB car challenge!

This new one is going to be nuts. I don't like it has tuning enabled. I think everyone should be on the same level here and the whole tuning thing will mean someone out there will drive the lap of their life and still not be even close. This is supposed to be a time trial where everyone has a fair shake. Not a fan. Hoping someone will post the best tune at some point so we can copy it and actually have a fair event. Especially on the Nurb!

Yess, they actually did it

But don't be frigthened, people. Longer lap means a much more lenient +3%! You just need a consistent lap.
It’s not more lenient. It’s 3% just like all the others. The difference here is, if I can’t game the tuning system, it may as well be 30%.

This is the DUMBEST TT imaginable I am willing to bet whatever you like that this will end up with the lowest number of golds of any TT so far.

Indeed. Just for a giggle, this is what it looked like a short while ago. And we thought Road Atlanta was hard!

Yeah I'm already a lot less invested in this one due to the tuning variables. It's a long time since I really drove nurb and this version feels quite different. Will attest that the linked tunes (praiano is it?) Makes the car a joy to drive so thats definitely a great start.

Of course it is, but considering the lap is long, as long as you don't do clear mistakes anywhere, all you have to do is get within that 13ish seconds.

As for the previous TT, you had to absolutely nail the lap since there was little to work with. That's the difference here.

I think it will be the opposite effect. The top time by an alien is likely to nail pretty much every corner (let's ignore tuning for the time being), whereas for most drivers a longer track means more room for mistakes, or that you have to consistently drive conservatively.

Whereas on shorter tracks you can afford to go ham cause resetting doesn't take long, and you just need one lucky lap.

Well, if the aliens are going to drive with 90% of the car on the grass again, it's no different than the Road Atlanta.

I was baffled with that, I watched the replays of top alien times yesterday, literally inside wheel on the edge of the curb, rest of the car on the grass and he brakes and gives it the full throttle and just goes. If I was to even slightly push the accelerator whilst a tiny bit on the curb, I would spin out even with TC1. Like we are not playing the same game?

But that’s not how it works. Both TTs require me to be no more than 3% worse than the best lap. 13 seconds or 1.3 seconds is irrelevant.

I could just as easily argue that this one’s harder because I have to stay fast for longer. (It’s also a much harder track to master than Road Atlanta)

Mark my words, this is going to be an absolute disaster.

Not that surprising, people think longer lap make it easier but its opposite, number of corners on this track makes it like 4 normal laps and somebody will nail almost all corners + tuning. Hipotetical easiet combos would be long straigts to increase time gap with not much corners so imo Monza or Le mans + car with slow acceleration to not losing much on worse corner exit.

That's exactly the complete opposite when tuning is on. Tuning gives a big advantage to someone very fast who knows how to tune as well. Let us call him/her driver X. In fact one could argue that a longer track gives driver X an even bigger advantage than on a short track since track is over 20 km long, and therefore the gold time could actually be less lenient since driver X has more track surface to take advantage of his/her skills in both driving and tuning. I think a 5-7 km track those tend to be more lenient. Like Dragon Trail Seaside we had or Trial Mountain

I like the fact they use a track which truly tests driver skills and consistency. All they had to do was to make the NSX bop fixed setup and call it a day.

Prainos tunes are good in general. I probably try out Mistah MCA's on Youtube. Attached what I found on his stream 👀 General idea, it seems is to run some ballast and move it to the front a lot, to stabilize the car which can be a handful in GT7. And widebody+plenty of aero for better grip.
