Well, I finally broke my DS4 - at least the rumbly bit that makes it shake and gives you feedback. It is now loose and sliding around aimlessly inside. After spinning at 130R on six consecutive laps, the controller may have gone flying through the air. It was aimed at a nice, soft pillow, but, umm...it sorta missed the mark...:embarrassed: It still works, but that piece moving around in there is quite distracting. Anyhoo...130R is seriously giving me fits. I let off the gas, but the car either continues in that direction and spins, or I try to correct the slide as softly as possible and it instead takes off in the other direction. It may take some time to find gold here if I can't make it through an entire lap safely. This is the furthest away I've been from gold since Lake Louise (I barely avoided losing my gold streak there with what felt like a miraculous lap on the last day).

I did have to check my spelling on that a few times to ensure I wasn't getting the wrong one and implying an evolution of Mr. Garrison's "IT" monowheel...
I'm not sure about the "seat" but I guess the part you insert in the mouth could be worthwhile to use for DRS. I can't find a button that makes it comfortable to use. :lol:
Hi Ed. I remember you from the WRS TT’s. I just acquired GT7 and look forward to competing again. Are you still on the controller? If so, is there anything I need to be aware of before I get started hot lapping?
Not Ed replying, but hello, my fellow Turtle racer! Long time, no talk! I was just thinking about the league and how I haven't kept in contact with anyone. How have things been?

I am completely unable to keep the Mclaren under control at 130R. The rear just swings out no matter if I'm on or off throttle nor doing gentle steering inputs. I spent 125+ miles on this TT and only made it around that corner like 5 times. Is it a controller thing? I have a silver on it but it's so frustrating that I've gone a lot quicker so many times only to lose it at that corner.
You are not alone, its really a lottery. I will try to find a way but for now its basically luck
 
Back home, collected my first ever gold and Cr. 2 M ! Yay! I know it's the easiest one ever to get gold, but hey, I'll take it and run! :cheers:

My first thought when I found out what the new TT is was "🤬, not Suzuka again!!"
I really don't like this track at all and I can see a struggle to get a bronze, especially in such a fast car.

Don't know what happened to my screenshot here but the car has suicidal tendencies through 130R. If it was real, it wouldn't be allowed anywhere near a race track because it would kill you. Gold may not be doable here with the seriously unrefined suspension geometry and poor aero balance. What a jarring change from the TS020.
 
I don't buy it. Harry Vanderspeigle from the show Resident Alien always claims his "people" are dutch too 👽
If there wasn't a lack of motionrange on the controller in the S'es it would help a lot here, then they would have to eliminate 130R... and i prob would have a descent time but for now i have absolutely NO clue how to drive this thing.....
Did a session this morning tying to figure it out but for the first time in A LOT of TT's i havent even reached the gold yet :lol: :lol:
i am a 39.76x or something, almost but stil silver :grumpy::lol::lol:

Altho i despise this combo and prob is going to cost me a Dualsense i like the fact that i have to work for this one... :lol::lol:
I dont know how to drive that thing yet. I keep dying in 130r

It was so funny yesterday (read shocking) when I came home from work, having dinner with my lady (for you who don't know she is actually much more in F1 than me, and I pretty much read and watch everything, she will see all pre-shows, post shows, practice, qualifying, technical analysis, race and so on...)

so I am telling her:

me - there is now new TT today, it is McLaren VGT on Suzuka
she - oh I am going to love it, I hope Suzuka is in reverse

Also my gold at Fuji is barely holding atm with 0.2xx, although i'm not sure if the gold time will still drop much in that one...

I'm actually thinking of trying to do it with the controller instead. I'm 3 tenths off. I know I can do it, the problem is that I don't complete more than 90% of my attempts. In some cases I don't even make it to the start line 😕

I'm using tc2 btw.
 
I've been busy practicing for my upcoming league races, but took some time today for the new time trial and even managed to set a decent time: 1:37.766

You really need to work the gears here. For example in the hairpin it's best to downshift to 1st for rotation and then double shift to 3rd at exit.

And people don't forget to use DRS!

This is the answer. Down to first for rotation and quick to third on the power slowly (1/3 to half throttle) until you slip past the curbing then full power..I also am not exactly sure where to shift this thing but it seems it wants 9k especially 4th to 6th. Lower gears need short shifts or only use them to slow down for rotation and then back to third or higher everywhere you can. I had a really good lap going last night where I was a gear higher in every corner than I was in my (maybe still?) gold lap. Couple tenths up. I feel like it's right on the cusp of the downforce working through most of the middle sector speed and a few extra miles an hour helps. It's hard though because it seems far too fast most of the time. Finding where the aero does its things is key here I feel.

Also the last left before the final chicane. I can smoothly be inside Hencsei's ghost every time there. Gaining an easy full car length and I never gain time there. This TT is a real puzzle.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, aliens, I'm really enjoying the challenge of this one and would love to find a little more.

In times gone by I would have spun 37 times before the start line, accepted that I have no skill whatsoever and then just sacked it off knowing that even a bronze would be good enough for a few credits but…. NOT TODAY! honestly even getting to the start line is a challenge, I tried countersteer strong but I did absolutely nothing, once this thing goes it goes! Does it have any downforce? Are the kerbs all covered in WD40? I don’t understand it’s ‘quirks’ but I guess we are stuck with them for two weeks!

I very nearly lost my mind the first few times I went through 130R, what a mess. However I have a consistent hack now; stay on the throttle and change into 5th gear then back up to 6th as soon as the car is stable on exit, seems to work for me so try it out everyone on MT! Anyone on AT, RIP 💀

I think I can get low 1:38.xxx with this but I will spend the entire time trying thinking how lovely the other Macca VGT would be on this trial 😢😢

I didn't understand that corner at first at all. I leave it in 6th and a light lift and right back on half throttle. It's super stable that way but you've got me by nearly a second so I guess I'm doing it wrong. 😂😂😂

Yes i'm still on controller. Just do what you did in previous GT games, you were fast in the past so you will be fast here aswell. 👍☺️

I did the same in my first session yesterday. @Dan_Tes do you mean you stay on full throttle and just drop it down to 5th?

Yep! Just before you turn in, seemed to work nice. The YouTube video is on my account I just haven’t had a chance to edit the details etc (busy day today, it’s alll going wrong)

I don’t know if it’s quicker than a little lift but I never really got to 130R enough times to properly experiment 🤪

What was your speed going through the corner with the drop down? @Tidgney mentions getting down to around 200mph through it so i am curious if yours is much faster.
 
This is definitely a tricky one. I was thrilled to get a clean, relatively smooth 1:44.1 on the board after a "daily marathon" worth of laps (7 or 8). For reference, that is 7.5% off the top time but the 34th percentile as of now.
I THINK I can get ~0.75sec/sector and bump into the silver range but I don't know how safe a ~1:41 would be.

I immediately started at TCS 3 (usually 1 for me) and weak CSA (usually off). I didn't see the point of stubbornly minimizing assists on a fantasy car with fantasy physics.

And definitely, definitely turn down FFB sensitivity if you're on a wheel. My G923 made more racket here than on the snow/dirt tracks.
