People who think that consumer cars should sound like nukes going off are even more disappointing.
Did I say something about nukes?

We all know sound is one of the biggest issues in gt series so please give it up. I've been studying sound engineering for 2 years and there's no way PD have recorded the sounds of every single car. Most of them are created with the same old samples or synthesyzed, only a few are real.
I have a good pair of ears and even with the background noise the engine sounds in this demo are just like in the prologue, period.

Forza 3 sounds very good for ears. I also note that there are very little difference in viewpoints in terms of sound in forza. In GT every view sounds very different. GT is more realistic at least in old cars as anything over 140 Km/h makes wind noise very dominant in reality(tested with e-type jag :) )

That's true. In gt5p you can't hear some high frequencies in the cockpit and that's perfectly normal, realistic.
That thing doesn't happen in nfs shift. Sounds are great but they don't change everytime you change view...EA blew it! One more reason for me to sell it.

+1! 👍

Even GTPSP has better tire squealing sound effects than GT5P - and that is an accomplishment! If GT5 sounds even better [read: more realistic engine and tire sounds] than GTPSP or Forza 3 - then we are in for a true, aural treat!

I personally think GT5 will blow us all away. They are waiting for the "moment of truth" to reveal the full greatness that is Gran Turismo 5. :sly:

I think that The engine sounds in GT are so Week, because they Record the car at Idle and then reving at specific RPM's, but they should record it on a Dyno and in the road to test.

The problem with that is that you get a simple sound where you dont hear for example when the intake its completely Open and it becomes Louder and gets more grunt, also you dont hear the variable valves opening like they should, the Supercharger Whine, etc.

Now, we must not forget that also are some good sounding Cars in Prologue, like the Mustang, Elise Tuned, Mazda 6 sounds actually like a Factory spec 4 banger so..no problem with that car, the Tuned 350z sound like a real one, also i think the Stock Z06 sounds pretty much the real deal, not exactly but sounds good...

So long story Short: PD needs to Record sounds in a better way, try to record Sounds separately like Intake at Wot, Exhaust, Supercharger, Turbo, Valve Lifting and some other Sounds.

Forza recorded sounds under load and maybe that is why they are so good. Under load car also is using more fuel which means explotions are bigger than in zero load; more volume and nuances.

I think the problem is that people expect the in-car sounds to sound the same as if they are standing behind the car!

I challenge anyone to drive the Amuse Honda 2000 in Prologue, in the behind car camera, to come on here and say that PD didn't record that sound under load.

Just try it.

Actually, a properly muffled small sports car like a Miata or RX-7 sounds remarkably like a hair dryer. To some extent, so does my turbocharged Supra. ;) But seeing as the sounds in GTPSP are improved, it looks like PD are doing their homework.

No Actually, you shouldnt Hear all the exhaust noise and rattle, but you HAVE TO hear a more deep Tone caused by the intake, its that sound of air passing through a tube, and should hear valves lifting and the supercharger whine should be noisier. So no I dont expect to hear the Exhaust from the interior, Just the engine and its noises.

And the Amuse S2000 exhaust sound its Pretty awesome Recorded, i Play GT5P in not one, but Two 35 Inches towers with Huge Speakers/Subwoofers, and it sounds helluva Awesome, You should try the Mazda Atenza 25t from the inside view and compare that sound to a Common 4banger, sounds pretty much the same but try to Compare the Tuned Corvette with a Real Life Tuned Corvette and the difference is Day and Night.

About other Games, For Example Forza or NFS Shift, Stock cars Dont sound stock, they sound waaay more packed than they are and thats also a Big Problem, not as Huge as Hairdryer sounds tho

So Resumed, PD are working hard on engine sounds, I Just recently Heard the Suichi Shigeno AE86 in GTPSP and sounds like a Stock 4A-GE 20V, have to hear everything in My speakers when GT5 arrives to say my Final comments and Thoughts.👍

I can only speak for what my car sounds like, I play from the HUD only point of view and the reproduction in GT5 Prologue and GT's of the past always remind me of what it sounds like in my car when you have a helmet on.

I always thought that is what they were trying to achieve.

The outside views are not too bad, but sound more like the car is being driven daily, not on a track.

I was trackside on Friday, and the sound is amazing, the pops and crackles, dull thuds, high pitched whines, tyre screeching, all is quite a few notches above where GT is at now for racecars.

You need to hear more cars in real life.

If they did the sounds realistic you would have to wear earplugs when playing with a Classe C (Le Mans) or the F1 2007. All your family and your neighbors too...

I hope they will include this car Lexus LFA which was featured in Tokyo motor show. It is the most powerful and expensive Japanese car in this gen. Suppose to replace the supra.

Couple of points:

Everyone with even the slightest interest in vehicular transport has already heard of this.

It's got nothing to do with the Supra.

And this ISN'T a wishlist thread!

Having played GT5 at the Tokyo Motor Show I will say that the physics seem much better. There was a lot of feedback coming through the wheel and I was spun rather easily when trying to pass the AI on the inside and he nudged my bumper. That jerk! It also looks amazing! They were running promos on LCDs and they were making a fair point about having the WRC and NASCAR licenses.

I think I will be buying a ps3 soon.

Thanks for the report. I know there was probably a lot of noise but did you notice any improvements to the tire and engine noise of the cars?

How are the FFB effects? Are they stronger now? There is nearly no FFB in GT5P when you compare it with Supercar Challenge...
