Alright, I have recieved the final setup. But, however, AndersonG22 was in violation of the regulations by running R5 tyres. He will be disqualified from round 5.

Question...

I realize this next round is going to be purely subjective. If I run a car stock (no tuning), then run it again with the settings I just got, is that a good way to judge?

EDIT: Should Shot, Fab, and me have 10 more points?

Up to you if you want run the car stock before testing it. And I have fixed the scoring issues.

We post our results / analysis here? or by pm?

Edit: Can't see why we cant do this publicly so here it is.

Car-less's Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 '99 @ Grand Valley Speedway, tested by Shotamagee.

(I tested the car for 4 laps for each stage.)
Time with near enough stock settings (Weight stage 3 already installed, so I ballasted it up to 1486kg)
2.09.570

Time with new parts only.
1.52.643

Time with parts and Down force settings only.
1.49.709

Time with parts & all settings.
1.48.888

Scores: (@ Grand Valley Speedway)
Driveability: 9
Its a GT-R, so even with the 50% increase in HP its still very easy to drive at the limit.

Handling: 8
The 4wd understeer was mostly tuned out so the car was pretty neutral, but there were sections where the ability to kick the tail out a little more easily would have been useful.

Acceleration: 9
Its hard to see how the acceleration could be improved with the 450Hp limit, but the extra weight, being 286kg over the 1000kg limit stops it from being a 10.

Top Speed: 10
The gearbox settings matched the track perfectly IMO. (even though they were stock)

Overall / "Feel": 9
A very nice improvement over the standard car, and the parts & setup were well dialed in as well. Would have to have made more use of the 4wd system by being even more aggressive with the setup to score a perfect 10.

Total 45/50

2 things: My Subaru is blue and I have to withdraw. I didn't have time and don't have time now to test the car I had so I can't do it. Maybe in the next challenge I have more time to compete. Sorry. :guilty:

Though I don't frequent GTP as much as I once did, I'd be interested in competing in the next round of this challenge. Keep me posted. 👍

The round is almost over so you can join in the next on if you like. Also, just PM the review.

AndersonG22's review of shotamagee's Camaro Z/28

driveablity: an easy 10/10
Handling: 9/10

Top Speed: 7/10
overall performance: 8/10 For this I took the average of all the other scores.
total score: 40/50

Cut'n'pasted from PM box: sent items.

Review of Nissan 350Z GT4 Version

Starting with a base score of 8/10 for each category, the setup then loses/gains;

-1 for driveability as there is just too much understeer present.
-2 points in handling for the rear brakes/suspension setup as the rear wheels tend to skip under hard braking, destabilising the car and potentially causing it to spin in fast chicanes.
-1 in acceleration for lack of initial traction. It's too easy to break the tyres loose off the line.
+1 for top speed as it's knocking on the door of 180mph before hitting the fuel cutoff. Would have been +2 if it was limited by aero/power rather than gearing.
+1 for overall performance as it is competitive against the JGTC cars in the all japan GT races. Not a race winner as it stands, but with an oil change and great driver at the wheel it could win the series.

Driveablity___ 7/10
Handling_____ 6/10
Acceleration__ 7/10
Top Speed___ 9/10
Performance__ 9/10

Total Score___38/50

Soon your avatar will cause epileptic seizure Car-less!

I'll post Flynn77's Setup on his behalf.

Flynn77's review of AndersonG22's NSX-R

Acceleration: 8 (a notch or two above my own tune)
Top Speed: 9 (a couple notches above my own tune)
Handling: 6 (squirrelly, check the LSD settings)
Driveability: 6 (see Handling, one and the same)
Overall Performance: 8 (average of the others rounded up as it beat my own tune in a practice lap)
GRAND TOTAL: 37

Top Gear Comparison Challenge #12: DIY Touring Cars

fabmaru has pulled out of the competition without reviewing Flynn's Buick, so Flynn has been given 35 points for this round.

FINAL ROUND

The producers have entered you and your cars into a round of the Japanese Grand Touring car Championship. You will race the Suzuka round of the All JGTC championship. Post your final combined time for the race. You have 96 hours to post your results. The fastest time will receive 40 points, 2nd 35 points etc etc.

A little unfair, don't you think? Getting the lowest score just because the reviewer chosen for me at random dropped out?

Flynn's time: 11'22.429

I'm not too good with tire wear, so a pit stop probably hurt my chances this round. Regardless, I think I did pretty well with a GNX against those JGTC nasties. :dopey:

Possibly I could do you your request. I wouldn't be biased as I'm not in the competition.

Would you rather 0 points? I thought that giving you 35 points would be fair so that you could have a chance of winning.

Thanks, I'll just join at the beginning of whatever turns out to be Top Gear Comparison Challenge #13, so I can start on a level playing field with everyone else.
Just curious why your rounds within challenges have avoided odd numbers after round 1? So far you've had Round 1 & 2, then Round 4 & Round 6. What happened to rounds 3 & 5? :boggled:

These have probably been left out by an oversight.

I would like to join the next round, as well. 👍

Yeah, I missed them out by accident. There were meant to be an extra 2 rounds but I left them out to speed up the challenge.

Final round:

I suspect this is something that should have been handled via PM, but I don't think my time will trouble the front runners too much so I'll post away.
Suzuka 5 Laps All Japan GT Championship race time: 10:47.431
Car: Chevy Camaro Z/28 '69
I used the same parts and setup which I used for Grand Valley Speedway, because the instructions provided are rather vague about this.

I managed to keep up with the JGTC cars on their cold tyres, and with some forceful/agressive driving I was in first midway through the second lap. However the Pitwork Z once clear of the other cars got past me easily and then the Denso Sard Supra started to home in and then pass me as my tyres started dying towards the end of lap 4. The final lap started on tyres that were orange and they were completely red and practically useless by the end of the lap. Because of this the Cerumo Supra and the Raybrig NSX pushed past me easily in the final corner (casio triangle) meaning I came 5th not 3rd. But that final lap was still only about 10 sec slower than the others so the race time was still quicker than if I had opted to pit.

I never quite managed to catch the leader, and my front tyres were past it before the start of the last lap. The rears however could probably have gone another 5 laps! I eventually limped home in last place to a time of 10:52.903.

This test may have been a better test of settings than anticipated. I say this because I know that Car-less's GT-R is quicker than my Camaro over one lap, having driven both of them. But I guess having a setup (and prob more importantly a RWD not 4WD drivetrain) that gets fairly even tyre wear, (my fronts still wore slightly quicker than the rears) is probably what allowed me to achieve a quicker time.
