Two pics coming from Long Beach, CA :

shawndre
i went to the international motorcycle show in long beach, CA on saturday and a sony big rig was there. i got excited and ran in there and they had tourist trophy on 3 tv's. i got to play for about 10-15 minutes. the handling takes a alot of getting used to, and i have a street bike! anyway i crashed on purpose and it had a real quick cut scene of the bike flipping and the guy rolling and then you go back to racing. there was no damage. pretty sweet game though. i will post pics tomorrow cuz the pics are on my g/f's camera.

oh yeah, i really hope they fix the handling in the final version. it seriously felt like the tires weren't on the road. it was weird

Play-Asia has changed the chinese release date : now it's 24 January 2006
The japanese release date is unchanged : 2 February 2006

:odd:

I was speaking to Play Asia about the change in date, and I was sent an email that reiterated that the Asia/China stock would arrive by the 24th. As I live in reasonable proximity to Hong Kong, there is a good chance that I’ll have TT on the 27th of this month. :D

*Shakes fist at PAL PS2!* :grumpy:

This close to a release and still no "major" TT news, I was expecting some sort of big announcement by now. Ho-hum.

I'll bet that you're hoping the Euro UPS plane doesn’t experience 'mechanical problems' this time.;)

Nah, it’s better to uncover the juicy stuff firsthand. We knew far too much about GT4 prior to the release.

I hope also to receive it on the 27th ... maybe just one hour before you ... who knows. ;)

you guys are evil!:banghead: ... anyway hopefully the UPS plane crashes :mischievous: on an remote island in the ocean and all the games will end up being played by visiting german tourists.:D (And you'll have to wait another 4 days for the next batch to ship) :irked:

you'd better tell us all about the game then :)

Can somebody try to translate the third line of this ?

"1イ23イ" probably means "23th January" and I'm curious to know what's up at this date. Thanks.

I guess thats the date the TVCM will be on TV?! Just a guess:idea:

We should ask member a6m5 to translate it.

I am getting a little anxious for this game, and maybe it's not a good thing. I really want to play it, but I know I waste enough time in front of the TV as it is. Ahh! My wife won't like it. I know that enough already.

Does TT have racing modifications?

Hey, I've just noticed this on the official site:

racingmodification6fa.jpg

Thing is, "600cc class" sounds like you can take any bike with a certain engine capacity and perform a racing modification on it, then race it against a similar class of bike. This raises two possibilities, will we see the return of racing mods like in GT and GT2, and will there be a GT2 style "class limit"?

Also interesting to note is that neither of those bikes appear on the sites bike list as pre-racing modified.

There's also this:

Note 2 different outfit categories, 'street' and 'race'. Maybe, depending on which type of bike you're riding decides the type of outfit you wear. Take the red CBR600RR in the first picture. If you don't perform a racing modification on it, it is classed as a 'street' bike and you then wear a street outfit whilst riding it. Then say you do perform a racing modification on your beloved 600, and you then wear one of the two racing outfits.

It's also interesting to note that the only other place I can see the helmet in the highlighted clothing group (white, with an orange stripe on the left hand side) is on racing modified bikes, the blue Yamaha R6 in the first picture and this CBR600 which, as far as I can tell, is the same one as in the first picture:

cbr6008qm.jpg

None of these bikes (ugh, I'm waffling, but this has really got me going) carry any obvious signs of a real-life team paint scheme, indeed all of the seem to have factory paint, but they still have some racing mods, leading to me believing that it is indeed possible to perform racing modifications on street bikes.

Still with me? Good. :) I may just be over reacting, but there does seem to be quite a lot of evidence for racing modifications. Anyway, we'll find out soon. :D

After watching a video on the US Tourist Trophy site *It's just a small media thing* Tsukuba WILL have the motorcycle chicane added to it.

PS Gamestop Says the Release Date is April 3, 2006

Don't understand all the Chinese characters, and it's written really small, so all I could make out was that from January the 23rd it is their plan (could also mean 'schedule') to .... (couldn't understand the verb) a special picture or image. It also says something about ''site'', by which they probably mean their website. Anyway, perhaps someone who knows more Japanese than I do could translate it properly and othewise we'll just have to wait till the 23rd.

By the way, I take it this is the URL of the US Tourist Trophy site:http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/SCUS-97502/Site/? It's a nice intro movie and all but how about entering the site? When I press 'media' I have to enter a username and password. Can someone fill me in?

Thanks!

The site requiring a password and username is the SCEA Press Centre, which contains press releases, high resolution images, videos, box artwork etc., that's what it truely means by Media ;).

I should really start learning Japanese again, however long it takes...

Thanks for the info Alpha. We'll just have to make do with the Japanese site, which pretty much has all we need. 👍

Yeah it's fun, but as you may know, it can be very frustating. After almost two years of university I can't even completely translate that 3rd line...Oh well

My preferred import store has TT in stock. The order status has changed from pre-order to preparing order. Hopefully it ships out via UPS this evening.

I had not seen that before, these two pics with detailed settings :

(found at the official japanese site, Playmode, Tourist Trophy World, third line)

It’s time to get on with some translating, as we’ll be struggling with the finer points of these menus later in the week. I’ll contact Mask Rider/Felix, as he’ll hopefully be able to assist us with the Asia version.

Edit: after looking at the pics- it seems that we’ll be able to see the changes being made to the riding style in real time. 👍
