Toyota 86 GT Super Lap-Active OP

I haven't used that much tuning in GT series and I don't know s*it about tuning. I tried to fiddle around with the settings and managed to get very close to gold. Then looked at the top of the leaderboard and you guys are about 10 seconds faster. LOL! Gotta try the settings posted here later. Trial Mountain is one of my strongest tracks... so maybe I just suck :) (Actually, it was my strongest track back in GT2 or something, hah!)
One of the best parts of the GTP Community is this Seasonal Forum where you get a wealth of good tunes and even contributions from top pilots sharing their setups. Replays from the top 10 are also an invaluable learning tool:tup:👍:gtpflag:

After the latest update I can't exactly replicate any of the transmission tunes, and not just for this seasonal. It's mostly the 5th and 6th gears that are giving me trouble. What gives?

I'm having the same issue, suddenly i noticed my setups got :censored:up

To setup transmission, first set Final Gear to 75% and set top speed to minimum, then set 1st & 2nd gear all to the left and 6th all to the right. Then separate evenly 3rd (25%) 4th (50%) & 5th (75%) and finally set up Final Gear to approximately 25%.

Am i right or it's more complicated than i think?

yup you basically got it right. i dont really care about the figures also. except you should always make FG to highest first before you set top speed to minimum because thats what makes all gears closest together. for this event the tranny trick isnt that necessary as youd only need top 4 gears mainly but if you have very powerful RWD with 7 speeds and where youd want its 7th gear to be its max speed and yet 2nd gear to be still tall enough to be any useful (tall enough so that you wont get too much wheelspin) you gota do that tranny trick otherwise 2nd and 7th never gets close enough to take part in the running. in GT5 it had those blue lines on graph and each line represented 40 kph so it was easier for me to see what max speed each gear pulls up to but they got rid of it so i have to rely on writings and letters on above to see what each gears max speed gona be.

Spent an hour or so making a tune for this event, feels pretty nice and good enough for 1st place so far, let me know what you think! :)

Thanks for the tune Bandit 👍 ...haven't been GT cruisin' much here lately. It's GREAT to be able to stop by GTPanet and get in the loop for a great tune, so I can have some fun and not beat my brains out tuning a car I'll never use again.

Pretty sure they have the SRF op on, so those new to GT can still have a go at some of these TT's without getting too discouraged. I'm sure, gradually the op will be disabled IMO.

I spent all day trying to get past you... Looks like I'll have to give it another go next weekend

Yes i did quite a good lap, my aim is to do a low 1.32.xxx and i know that is there... i used bandit tune if you want to try it out.

Recommended setting for DS3 user :

Steering sensitivity at +1 or +2, all aids off, except ABS 1 ( if not comfortable with ABS 0 ) with 7/7 brake balance as starting point.

Notes :
I made this replica to replicate APEXI test/demo car used to promote their tune up line of products ( Air filter, ECU, Exhaust, Coilover, etc ) Due to very limited data, I made a what if version - tuned for Tsukuba Time Attack with mild power tune and utilizing cross mission ( close ratio gearbox ), aftermarket LSD + the very own APEXI top of the range N1 Evolution Coilover.
The car has 280PS and very well balanced for track and street driving, use trail brake to maximize the damper + LSD setup, nail the entry and enjoy great speed out of a corner

The car should be easy to get gold, while still being fun to drive :D Easy 1:38 when tested at Trial Mountain - no ABS, no SRF :)
Should also be good for baseline tune, if wanted to improve - I would suggest to do weight reduction, custom gearing and lower the power :) The rear wing do not add PP.

That's when the fun begins. After doing the above (more or less) I carry on adjusting individual gears by small increments or the final by smaller and smaller increments (starting with 10) so as to tune gears for key corners on each track. I find I need to adjust as I learn to go faster. Sometimes, when it all falls in place, it feels like magic.

I have further test the car at Trial Mountain, with aggressive driving, the car might drop too low on several section, so I would suggest to simply increase the damper stiffness and the rest stays the same :

Front/Rear Damper for Trial Mountain

Compression : 8 5
Extension : 7 5

With the above damper, the car can be pushed with more confidence especially the 1st left, the right after 1st tunnel, the left after 2nd tunnel, big left hander after long straight and the big dip that leads to the left hairpin just before the chicane near the finish line. If wanted for more grip, use zero camber front and back :D

Let me know if the car drives well or not

This is the setup I'm using, hope it helps.

No oil change.

To match the gear ratios first you need to set the final gear to 4200, later max speed to 180 km/h, later adjust the gears and final gear like in the pic.

Grande Ramón! Thank you very much for sharing. I have a question: Why no one adjusts the camber as was done in GT5? (1.0) (1.9).....
Been tested many times and it seems to provide less grip at whatever end you add camber to. 0.0/0.0 seems the way to go for now.

O yes:)
Yesterday tried Bandit tune but it's not good for me.15min on your tune and got high 31 for now.Low is definitely there, maybe even high 30.

Really love the car now,tnx for sharing:tup:

I only had about 20 minutes to try the regular 86 vs. the AE, regular faster 1:31.733 for 24th. Very much enjoy this track, after only 20 minutes I was beat, lol.

You're welcome. 👍

What @Johnnypenso said, camber in GT6 is broken so far, if you don't set it at 0.0/0.0 you'll lose grip, even at 0.1/0.1

So far, For some reason with this car and track combo I have been faster with a little camber than without, I have been using f/0.9 r/0.6. :boggled:
This could be due to more of less half of the track having substantially varying amounts of camber itself. I noticed this with your tune as well as my own.

I have also found that this combo seems [I think] to prefer 1 inch up wheels as apposed to standards or 2 inch up, this could also be linked with road camber, but might just be down to my driving.

Sometimes 0.1/0.1 works. I had it set at that for the Scirocco super lap.

Could it be that they fixed that? I haven't checked lately, but in the Jag TT a little camber worked, less speed as expected, but better grip in some corners

Yes I have experienced that as well, a bit of camber on Bandits tune work well for me and I use my own tune for the Jag and use a bit Of camber and it work wonders, like .06 & .04 respectively or less depending how it felt.
