Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman

Boy, I've been here before. Let's just says that the Eagles rock, and agree to disagree on the rest.
Closing Bell is supposed to be a show that covers the closing of the market and discusses the financial news that affected the closing price throughout the day. Unless Charles Barkley started a business venture, he is an odd guest himself. The fact that the conversation then ventured on to the topic of a criminal trial is odd for the show topic or guest. It really does show the insanity the media has exhibited over this case.

That said, I will watch any and all Maria Bartiromo interviews. One of my happiest days as a news transcriber was when she went from being host of a weekly show to anchor a multiple-hour daily program.
Interesting.

I see the media is trotting out the "Choir Boy" pics of Treyvon Martin again, along with the mugshot of Zimmerman. This while hyping the anti-Stand Your Ground message. Didn't they even pay attention to the trial proceedings? "Stand your ground" was not used as a defense. But then again, never let facts get in the way of the agenda you're trying to push, I guess.

Notably absent are any pics of Zimmerman with the black kids he'd mentored.

It has been almost two years since I was a transcriber, plus NBC moved their stuff from us to a company they started in India, effectively offshoring their transcripts.

I'd recognize that sub-par work anywhere. We tried outsourcing to them before my company went bankrupt and it took me nearly two weeks to get them to stop putting everything in all caps.

Well, the Florida governor, as well as other states, said he won't change Stand Your Ground laws over this case. It isn't stopping the protests and the media has an opportunity to stir up more controversy.

They mentioned that on the radio today, but I think it was Fox News.

P.S. Interesting insight there FK!

This is perhaps the most comprehensive takedown of all information related to the case:

http://www.dlas.org/questions-zimmerman-verdict/

The media made this into a race conflict. That should pretty much end this whole debacle once and for all. Take a look at that page and tell me the justice system is broken.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I was just about to. I urge everybody to take this survey, if nothing else as a way to start to stand up against mass media.

That survey should be required reading for everyone who disagrees with the verdict. Sadly though, most of those people would rather be lead around like sheep by the likes of MSNBC and racial terrorists like Al Sharpton.

.........How much of the claims made in the survey are true? If it's anything like 60% accurate, I owe George Zimmerman an apology. If close to all true, I admit, I'm a 🤬 idiot, and the media had me absolutely fooled.

Seriously, I find this truly shocking, because as some of you already know, I've been skeptical & critical of the media the entire time. I was under the impression I was seeing through much of the biased reporting, but looks like they got me, too.

While I never believed that Zimmerman was a racist, I did think that he was an idiot. Now there's a good chance that he did absolutely not one thing wrong that evening.

The survey gave me a similar feeling. I barely keep track of the media at all, and I hardly ever "join the debate" on current events like this one...essentially because of what we're talking about right now. I only clicked on this thread for the first time today, out of curiosity for GTP's tone of discussion in the wake of the verdict.

From my limited information, I surmised the same thing as you -- that Zimmerman wasn't a bad guy or anything, but really shouldn't have gotten himself into that situation, even if he was a neighborhood watch. Of course, that was tempered by the admission that I knew next to nothing about the incident. I presumed I wouldn't know any better by listening to the media or people on the internet. Like you, I still don't know if I should heed every bit of that survey. But the contrast between that account and the "popular view" is apalling.

I have a lot of bleeding heart friends who get all their info from 30 second CNN and CBC soundbites and they all thought Zimmerman was going to fry. Most of that information in the survey was available from the very beginning, but most of it was downplayed or outright ignored in favour of the race politics by racial terrorists (my new favourite phrase:sly:) like Al Sharpton. Even tonight I was watching CNN and they reported on Zimmerman's efforts in pulling people from the overturned SUV a few days ago, and everything they said was about doubt as to whether he was even there. One of their main pieces of evidence was that no one who made a 911 call mentioned to the operator that George was there and that they knew George has a history of calling 911 because he did when he killed Martin so why didn't he call this time? That's what passes for reporting on CNN. It's a joke.

Ted Nugent has some words for Stevie Wonder over the "Stand Your Ground" law.

Love or hate the Nuge, you always know where he stands...he's not afraid to call a spade a spade.

Wolfe: I actually followed this case, joined the discussion in this thread, and I also believed that I was more familiar with the evidences associated with the case. I thought people getting caught up in racism with no proof were idiots, but actually joining the club myself really sucks.

Johnny: I was also skeptical about that rescue thing, but I'll should probably shut up now.

So true.

From here:

Jesse Jackson
Now, you have the case here of a known murderer who profiled, racially profiled Trayvon and pursued him over the objections of the dispatchers, didn't want to let another little punk get away, then he murdered him and walked away from the dead body and gave his gun to the police department where he found sanctuary for 44 days.

Murder, eh? Wonder if Zimmerman is going to go after Jackson for libel/slander. Seems he'd certainly have a good case.

I think by now most people have also heard his "Mr. Zimmerman kills a young man and walks away, free to kill again" statement.

Obviously feelings are still running high after the verdict, but I don't know what the Reverend Jesse Jackson thought he would achieve by making unguarded and unhelpful comments such as these. It is clear that he views the killing of Trayvon Martin in purely racial terms. He clearly dismisses the verdict, and alludes to the 'amazing similarities' between this case and others where all-white juries decided their verdicts based on racism rather than the evidence. This, to my eyes anyway, is bordering on a racist attitude itself, and I must say I expected much better from someone of Jackson's stature.

There does seem to be an awful lot of racism sprouting from this case, and is completely unnecessary, unhelpful and irrelevant to the events which occurred.

I did that quiz/survey which was linked to on the previous page, and it was very interesting indeed. The media once again comes through with flying colours in this case (!)

Actually, if you know Jesse Jackson's history. It's exactly what I expect from him. He's been inciting racial bias for years. He's also made some very hypocritical comments about his own people. :ouch:

He's really only after the media spotlight, that's it.👎

If you see Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson crying racial injustice! Chances are they're lying. It's like the little boy who cried wolf to many times. Nobody's buying it anymore.

Sad but true.

They depend on these situations yet unwittingly they actually create more of a racial divide when they start spouting their nonsense.

Re-reading into some of the media bias;

Bill O'Reilly of Fox News called for restraint and urged other pundits to stop trying the case in the media. He said that the case is a "tragedy" but should not be tried in the media.

Christ, how messed up can things be when Bill O'Reilly says something even remotely sensible?!

It's not unwittingly at all, extorting dollars out of law suites and keeping their fabricated cause alive. It's good business and they stay in the spot light.

This new Juror who has come out seems to be judging this from the aspect of her ethnicity rather than fact. I'm glad she followed the law, but after that she loses me and I feel it has to do with the public perception she didn't see while judging the case.
