Trophies (now with list of supported games)

Strangely, I got the a lot of the arcade trophies in a single play through (though I had the game paused for several hours while working, lol).

I found the hardest trophy to be the Bomber, 10x was fairly easy (because I usually don't die until I get to Hard mode).
Well, all I have left now is 10x, Bomber, Shock and Awe, and Co-op.

A little patience should get me 10x and Shock and Awe, but Bomber will take some effort. Hopefully the co-op Team Pack will be available on the PS Store today.

Now I just want my PAIN! trophies. That is where I will shine.

This "split-screen" co-op, is it online or do you need someone to play local with you?

It may sound obvious but I've played 2-player arcade games before online and it's split-screen, so I don't know. It'll be cool if it's online.

Wouldn't the slightest amount of lag potentially kill you though?

It would be nice if the option to remove games from a user's "Trophy Collection" is implemented in a future update, providing they haven't achieved any of the trophies for those games.

For instance, I downloaded the demo of Super Stardust HD to see what it's like and decide if I would purchase it. When I first ran it, I was prompted to upgrade to 4.00, so I did. I played it for a while, but eventually decided that I would not buy it.

Now Super Stardust HD is listed in my Trophy Collection (with no trophies achieved) and I would like to remove it, but I can't. This situation will also be encountered in the future when games supporting trophies are rented and the person decides to never play that game again. They'll be stuck with a useless entry in their Trophy Collection.

Maybe a system could be implemented behind the scenes, where every month or so, games that have had no trophies achieved are automatically cleared from a user's profile. This has no negative effect on the people who just haven't got around to playing the game yet, because the data will simply be re-created when they do so.

Do I make a valid point, or am I just being too much of a neat-freak? :D

I think an option to remove them yourself could be easily implemented for games with no trophies. It might get a bit more complicated deleting trophies you have obtained (for whatever reason) because you would be "de-leveled". You might be able to get rid of them by deleting the file from the Game Data utility, unless trophy data is only stored online. (Which, now that I think about it, is probably the case.)

I agree, the option should only exist for games that the user has not achieved any trophies in because de-leveling could get complicated, as you suggest, especially if "levels" gain any form of significance in the future.

Yup, it is the case that trophy data is stored online. Deleting the Super Stardust HD install and save had no effect. :(

Very valid. I was going to suggest deleting the save files and whatnot, but I see that you did that.

Honestly, an option to just turn Trophies off wouldn't be bad either so those who don't want to be caught up in this "I got X trophies and you don't" madness can avoid it.

But yeah, the ability to remove unearned Trophy games would be cool.

I doubt that will actually happen though. Hopefully they will have a way to sort them.

Foolkiller is a monster in pain lol.
Only compared to GTPers. I can't even touch some of those leaderboards, yet.

Ferrari Challenge Dev's "evaluating the possibility of adding Trophy support"
Posted on 2008/07/11 5:21am by Andrew Jeffery
After recently contacting System 3/eutechnyx regarding this issue, they have confirmed that they are currently evaluating the possibility of adding Trophy support for the PlayStation 3 title Ferrari Challenge.

The email read as follows:

"Hi,

We are currently evaluating the possibility of adding Trophy support.

We’ll keep the community updated with further news as we have it.

Regards,

Ferrari Challenge Admin"

While this doesn't confirm that Ferrari Challenge will support Trophies, it does make it much more likey considering System 3 have stated that they will improve the title based on Community Feedback

Trophy support confirmed for Bioshock
Posted on 2008/07/10 2:03pm by Andrew Jeffery
Speaking on the Official Bioshock Blog, Digital Extremes programmer Andrew Rudson has confirmed that the upcoming PlayStation 3 version of Bioshock will support the PlayStation trophy system. During his post he stated:

"While working on BioShock PS3, I had the opportunity to be one of the first developers to make use of the new PSN Trophy system."

Bioshock should hopefully be the first of many PlayStation 3 titles which support Trophies straight out of the box.

I find this system a bit lame. Unlike MS achievements points we cant do anything with our trophies except showing them to our friends. and what is the point of that? hey I'm rox you sux...

I'm waiting update 2.40 because of in-game custom soundtracks and in-game chats.

And what exactly is it that you can do with MS Achievements besides brag about how you've got 13,456 points? I really see no difference between the 2.

Trophy support confirmed for Bioshock

Nice, Bioshock is one of the games that I am seriously looking forward too. I cannot wait to immerse myself in an Objectivist society. Now I will have more resons to venture in.

It's been covered and he has recanted by now.

It's pretty cool, and the graphics (on the 360 version) are the best I'd ever seen. I'm hoping they won't make it a sloppy port like The Orange Box.

They are saying enhanced graphics and features, plus all the 360 DLC available out of the box.

They actually handed the conversion over to another company that is good with the PS3.

I still haven't gotten The Orange Box because of its poor conversion.

Orange Box on PS3 really isn't that bad. It's been seriously blown out of proportion. I could go over it, but if you've made up your mind, you've made up your mind. But if you think it's really THAT poor, then shame on you. It's a good port and Portal is worth the price alone.

It's on my Gamefly list, but I didn't go out and buy it new like I was planning to initially.

I haven't written it off completely but it has been pushed back on the list of wants. Right now it is behind MGS4, Lego Star Wars, and Civ Revolution. And by the time I get through these Rock Band 2 and Little Big Planet will likely be added to that list. Fortunately, aside from RB2 and LBP, there are no more future titles between now and Christmas that are drawing my attention.

Of course, with E3 this week, that may change.

Someone may have mentioned this problem a while back (maybe D-N), but I FINALLY got the gold trophy for Stardust but it hasn't updated my profile? I was having network problems at the time though - I was getting signed out pretty often.

Hopefully it'll appear unlocked soon...

It isn't showing in your profile or under the Trophy menu under Game?

Usually when I go into the Trophy menu it will synchronize trophy information and then everything adds up properly. Otherwise it can take a while sometimes.

Also, if I am having connection issue it will give me an error code when trying to synchronize, which would prevent it from updating at all.

Oooooooooooh, okay. I understand what that does now.

Its showing up now. I just checked your profile on my PS3.

I guess I can be nice and mention this in here, as it definitely affects Trophies.

The Super Stardust HD Team Pack add-on is already available in the PS Store.

So, no one has to wait until Thursday to try for that last trophy.

Woo, got all the trophies in SSHD. 👍

The bomber one were you have to keep 15 bombs in bomber mode was the hardest by far. Must have been nearly 100 attempts at least. In the end luck was on my side since I picked up a shield...

Anyways, I thought the Platinum trophy appears when you get all other trophies in a game?

I heard somewhere that it didn't count for one in PSN titles as their trophy situation can constantly change with updates and DLC, where as a disc game would have a set standard group of trophies that are hard coded to the disc.

I was taking it as rumor, but I am guessing that it is true.

New detailed info on Bioshocks trophies

Playstation Blog
Recently, the BioShock PS3 design team here at 2K Marin spent some time with the Trophy system for the PS3. The Trophies for the PS3 are ranked as if you, the game player, were an Olympian. It seemed only right that we organize our thoughts by this method.
Our first batch out of the Trophy-maker, were the Bronze Trophies.

Just like in the original BioShock, for the PS3 version our initial emphasis was on encouraging thoroughness and exploration of the BioShock universe. Each system in BioShock has a reward for the player that digs deep enough. Our hope is that players that may otherwise neglect a system will want to explore it just for the Trophy. Systems like Researching, Modifying Weapons, Hacking, and Crafting are all loaded with awards. A meticulous player will find themselves up to their armpits in prizes.

While every system has a tactical in-game advantage, we hope these Trophies will encourage players to try out every aspect of BioShock. Hacking, for example, is a system that some players may never focus on. However, for the player who gets out their wrench and starts tinkering, the tactical significance of having a turret and two security bots on your team is impressive. We hope that luring you in with the promise of glittering medals will make you consider revisiting such systems. We believe that once you get a nibble of the effectiveness of certain tactics, you’ll come back for a full meal.

Silver Trophies were next to be handed out.

For the true explorer, we present one of the more difficult Trophies to get in all of Rapture. The “Historian” Trophy is awarded for finding every single audio diary. This particular Trophy is Silver because we understand the rigor required for this endeavor. If you’re a true adventurer and seek to know the full story of the fall of Rapture, look under every desk and open every door. There are many to find.
As you may expect, several Trophies must remain secret. Giving this information away has the same effect as turning to the last page in a great book. We imagine you hate this as much as we do. The other silver Trophy must remain in our vault until you discover it for yourselves.

Next we turned to the Gold Trophies, the real beauties.

When considering how to use these Trophies to reward players, we chose to give a respectful nod to those few who desire a challenge. We believe that BioShock PS3 has a lot to offer in a single play through, but we wanted to emphasize and reward a player’s second or third descent into Rapture. This led us to create new Trophies that encourage more advanced tactics and enemies that provide a greater challenge.
As a result of this thinking the first Trophy bears the name, “Brass Balls”. If you desire to be among the few who have this prestigious award on their mantle, you must win BioShock on Hard difficulty with the Vita-Chambers turned off. A feat so daring that anyone even glimpsing this formidable Trophy in your glass case will be shaking with terror and respect.

There are still more Trophies yet to be unveiled which will push you further than this. Devilish trials which only the sturdiest among us will finish. Keep your ears peeled for further details.

We believe that you will find gathering all of these Trophies a grueling but satisfying trek. Should you manage to gather every single bronze, silver, and gold Trophy, the ultimate achievement is waiting: the coveted BioShock Platinum Trophy. Its glistening mass is reserved for those few who can stare down a Big Daddy without shivering.

Our hands are at the ready to give congratulatory pats on the back to anyone strong willed enough to claim these shiny keepsakes. Until then, expect more updates from the designers here at 2K Marin as BioShock for the PS3 surfaces.

We can move Ferrari Challenge from the rumored list to the list of announced titles.
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/24/ferrari-challenge-will-also-get-trophy-support/

Ferrari Challenge's Mark Cale really loves PlayStation, it seems. So much so, that his game isn't coming out on Xbox 360. The development team is also working on getting one of the newest PS3 features enabled in the game: Trophies. The racing game, which is currently available in Europe (coming soon for America), is joining the ever-growing list of Trophy-supported games. Speaking in a live Q&A session with Eurogamer's readers, Cale notes that "We're really impressed with what Sony are doing with Trophies, and we'll be making an update available very soon to allow the game to support these features in the future."

Looks like Trophy fanatics are getting a lot of work piling up. With PixelJunk Eden, Uncharted and now Ferrari Challenge added to the mix, Trophy fanatics are going to have a lot of sleepless nights.

Looks like Uncharted just got a date: August 22nd

http://talkplaystation.com/uncharted-trophies-coming-august-22/

Posted by Talk Playstation on Jul.24, 2008 at 11:03 pm

While listening to the Playstation Nation Podcast we heard that the Uncharted Trophies are coming on the 22nd of August which is just under a month away. Quite a while for those craving for them.

We contacted Naughty Dog earlier for confirmation and one of the representatives responded with:

“Yes, trophies will be released on August 22 if all goes to plan”

I’m sure it will go to plan, Naughty Dog are always on target. With Trophies on the way for Uncharted, i think i’m going to play through the game again just to get the Trophies and level up.

lol, I was so jealous. You know how competative I am, and when I saw you had all of them, I was mad that I had no one (at the time) to get the Co-op trophy with. When I went home to visit, I immediately made one of my friends play with me, took us quite a few tries, because he sucks, and I had to keep him alive, lol.

I cannot wait for Thursday and Pixel Junk Eden.

Hah, I have to admit I kinda cheated with the co-op one. I only have 1 controller, but my parents have another PS3 so I borrowed their one and played the co-op all by myself... I just didn't shoot anything and kept the ships together, only moving them if rocks are going to fly towards me.
