TT #36: 600pp Nürburgring 24h/Cote d'Azur. See post 1 for tunes.

I'm about 30th at Monaco on a high 1:11 which is good considering it's my first TT without a DS3. I just need to learn how to cheat properly through that tight corner just after the tunnel. :sly:

Which f1 are you driving? If its the f2010, try the 07 car. It has a shorter wheelbase so, by design, should perform better in tight radius corners..

But the F10 does seem to slide around the hairpins nicely, I prefer the feel of it but judging by the new best time I might have to get used to the F2007.

Brilliant idea and really enjoyable to compete in these new TTs... Sports hard for the 'Ring in such powerful cars is great... Really makes think harder rather stamp on the throttle harder...

If only people wouldn't cut the chicane in Monaco...

The Audi R8 is a good tool for the ring tt.
Easy to control and damn fast too.
If youve got yinato's set-up from the previous tt-just change the gearing to suit and away to go.
Its good enough for an 8.40(even in my clumsy hands :) ) although everybody will start using the nsx-r or R390.

I'm using g27 and i found it hard to make the hairpins because the wheel is 900 degree and I have to turn the wheel much more to turn. Is it because of the wheel or the setup itself?
In this turn try only using one hand to turn the wheel as your going slow enough to do this (open palm on wheel). This way your not trying to cross your hands on the wheel. Same thing on 24 hr ring in first turn and several other tracks, it's not the game it's the wheel (had G25 since launch) and you can't change setting on these on the PS3 in GT5.

I haven't tried a wheel myself (I have the DFGT but not set it up yet) but pretty sure for Logitech wheels you can reduce the lock to 360 degrees or something (actually might be 270). Check the manual or ask in the wheels/rigs thread here..

I've read in the GTP Hardware Forum that only the Logitech DFP allows for steering rotation adjustment (down to 200 degrees). If the DFGT does also, this would be of great interest becuase I struggle with my DFGT @ 900 degrees.

Hello¿ I am new in the forum. Pardon for my Englishman's low level. I need help with the gears of Audi R8, do not manage to form it. I have Yinato´s set-up, but the gears are differents. Thank you for your help

Managed a 1.16 with my polyphony, that first time of 1.08 is crazy tough how can you find 8! seconds more...

Heres the tune that I did an 8.40 in the Audi R8 4.2 at the Ring.
Im no tuner by any means so feel free to tweak it to suit yourselves.

IRL the F10 was better at Monaco. The F2007 obviously had superior aerodynamics (don`t know whether it was more efficent, but it created way more downforce), but the F10 has much, much better tyres which make the difference at tracks like Monaco.

Also, in GT5, the F10`s physics got screwed up with the Spec 2.0 update and its very arcadish (i mean easy to drive fast)

Thank you very, very much, numbnuts, it will prove it. I`m sure that they were imporving my times. Thanks¡¡¡

Looking forward to this.

Dusted off the Kimi Mobile - 7 miles on the clock... I really didn't enjoy this car. Better give it some fresh oil...

To the time trial... Sir your Ferari has too many PP

So into the pits to fettle the car... How much aero can you twist into it... well lets give it the full fat option...

And lets cut back on the power ...

And lets drive like I would have to pay for any repairs... so a nice gentle outlap, no curb kisses not even clsoe to a barrier and... 5 seconds better than gold!

But I wasn't even going fast - Why so easy?

---

Used the R390 Road car at Nurburg - again I thought it was going to be very tough, maybe I would nee da few laps. So settled on a slow smooth lap to get a feel for the car and the time needed... and blammo another easy gold.

Car did feel nice and skittish though, maybe that was a side-effect of not pushing hard into corners. Hate the fumble Esses at the end of the start straight.

Down to a 1:11 dead with the F2007. I found Immortalpilot's ghost very useful, I know there are a few areas where I can improve and my wheel is allowing me to learn much faster than with a DS3 because I'm not worried about making mistakes. I think I'll be at least into the high 1:10s tomorrow. ;)

Ryk
But I wasn't even going fast - Why so easy?

It was way too easy, I think the gold time should definitely have been less than 1:20.

sorry kaiser-i saw that there might be an issue with the layout of the toe and camber values.
see op and it shows the tune with uprated values.

Man I was hoping to try to get my name on the F1 challenge Top spot, but IMMORTAL beat us all to it.

Wagers as to how long he'll keep #1?
1.14:1 Odds he wins it.

Edit:
LMAO 1711th position. First time I ever do Monaco with an F1...

Holy Jumping Jehosephat! Did you guys see his lap? He drifts it through the Grand Hotel Hairpin!
Notice how everyone else on top cuts the 'Nouvelle Chicane"? IMMORTAL does it legally...

Dude! Awesome lap! 👍

Eventually, tell me how well your progression from DS3 to a wheel is going.

I am very quick with a DS3 like you are, but someday plan to switch to a wheel! You'll be my test subject. Keep me updated. Haha.

Hey CC, I just bought a g27 and after about 4 hours on it I can say I'm not as quick yet as with a DS3. Having said that it was well worth it as it transforms the game. If you can justify the expense then do it. I'm sure I'll be faster with the wheel soon. The biggest immediate improvement with the wheel is throttle control. I always used TCS with a controller but don't need it with the g27. Interesting that I need to use more ABS though. Plan on a brake upgrade, and don't forget the wheel stand.

I'm thinking of hitting a 1:12-1:14 with this one, although I never tried a "proper" tune at Monaco, just kept the stock tune with a higher downforce and gears.

Well my 1st session (an hour or so) in the F2007 with a try at a soft tune netted me a 1:15.407. I will try tuning variations (I'm liking the separate tune pages) and then maybe try following a ghost if I think I can improve my position (I know when I'm at my limit physically) .

Thanks guys it was not easy but i can drive 2 tenths faster i think.
Impressive stuff 👍.

How many laps do you think you have ran so far out of interest? Do you think you can do a lap faster without hitting the barriers in some parts?

Hm. 1:15.292, not bad, but needs improvement. I'm literally lost in the world of understeer, low downforce in an F1 car makes me twitch inside. It seems that is my biggest problem, if I can remove the understeer I'd probably be able to improve about 1-3 seconds.

The sad thing is he's not kidding.

Yup

A few tip's on the Monaco tune
my car was pretty soft between 14-16 spring rate, camber front and rear up to 4.0, rear toe around 50-65 . max front downforce and as low as 185 rear.
Plus the LSD was set low at around 10/15/15

Hope this helps anyone strugling to break below the 1:14ish barrier.

Im not to optimistic about breaking below a 1:11 im kinda at a standstill at finding more time.

Got a 1:14.9 in the FGT, don't have the F10 or F2007 yet. Gonna try break in the top 250 tomorrow to establish myself as the fastest FGT out there

Are you using the 2007 or 2010 (I'm using the 2010)? I'm not in front of my PS3 at the moment so I can't check for myself.

I have been playing around with similar spring rates, as well as softer dampers (I'm still not convinced the softer dampers are helping, but they don't seem to be hurting). My best is 1:12.7xx, and I don't think I can get much better than 1:12.5 with my current tune, so I'm interested to try your LSD and camber settings tomorrow if I get the chance. I also never considered dropping some rear downforce, even though it makes a lot of sense. I'll try that too. Thanks for the inspiration :)

Some time tomorrow, once I'm somewhat satisfied with it, I'll post my tune.
