Tuner Wars by Harvey Wallbanger (First 2 battles joined 12/6/11)

Allright, a full "non-reviewers, review" will come when this battle is made official, but fr now some times and feed back to (I hope) help everyone fine tune what they need to :scared:

Harvey, I will run your TT very soon and get back to you.

I ran 5 lapes on each track, ABS=1, all else off.
*please remember I am a POOR DRIVER and your lap times will be much better*
Onboy
Deep Forest- 1:19.942
Car felt good. Only problem I could feel was the understeer (but that is a problem for all :grumpy: )
PROS
+ The gearing was next to perfect
+ It has a great sence of speed
+ Looks great in the replay :dopey:
CONS
- Understeer
- Understeer
- UNDERSTEER is really the only problem
- maybe stronger brakes, but that might just be the tub of goo behind the wheel :D
Trial Mountain- 1:32.649
Love this course, but not in this car!!!! Problems are amplified on this course for some reason. Unersteer was driving me insain, so much that that I was starting to hate this car. All joy was lost on this track!!! I'm heading back the the Forest.
PROS]
+ The gearing was still good for this track
+ It was fast
CONS
- Due to the poor driving the understeer was very prevalent
- Early braking was needed, and no braking while turning, or MORE understeer will accure

Maybe more time and learning the car better would help me at TM, but for now it is a very good car to drive at Deep Forest... just find a way to lose the understeer! :dopey:

ACSR421
Deep Forest- 1:20.722
Turn in is very good. Mid corner, under exeleration, it starts to push. If you don't hit your line just right, acceleration from apex out = you're in the grass/wall.
PROS
+ very good turn in
+ The gearing felt very good
+ great speed down the straits
+ Easy to drive (aside from the understeer)
+ Great brakes
CONS
- Understeer on exit
- Understeer mid corner (under acceleration)
- Felt fast, but wasn't :odd:
Trial Mountain- 1:33.397
Car was much more enjoyable the Onboys, and felt good to drive. Oddly it was slower in the hands of an idiot, and I'm unsure why.
PROS]
+ Brakes were perfect
+ Fast down the straits
+ Turn in, and mid corner were very good
CONS
- Not as much understeer, but still understeers
- lacks acceleration (might be the reason it was slower... or maybe the driver)

Car was very good to drive, and it didn't feel slower, but it turns out it was. I don't know why.

Hope that helps. Once all tunes are posted I will make my offical times and notes (with mine and Harveys included)

*NOTE = hope to get to your car Harvey, but some family time right now, and then it's mine. :dopey:

Reading through…yup. Sounds like it, though the brakes weren't meant to stop it, just to scrub speed off, so don't expect them to act like anchors. If you can, could you try trail braking in it? It should help it rotate more when you do so.

Trail braking, if you don't know, is like braking, only you lift off the brakes more gradually to let it rotate better.

And as for ACSR's car being better to drive than mine? His is less of a hooligan when both are driven correctly, mine is looser at the other end of the limits, from memory.

The "Devil's Due" is now on share.
Kyoto20-20Gion.jpg

Managed a 1:19.383 at Deep Forest.:dopey:

I'm not happy with the tune but I'm tired of fighting with the car and track both.:ill:
Might get motivated at some future point to try improving it but for now I think I'm done with it.
Will most likely post the tune tomorrow.

Love the name  I hope I can find time to test it today :dopey:

EDIT - mine is back on share. Try it at the 'Ring. Very fun :dopey:

Well this weeks "Car Of The Week" started out the same way week two did. One Outlaw (Harvey Wallbanger to be exact) challenges me to a tuner battle, and I stupidly agreed. Well I must have frightend those Outlaws, because one turned into two, turned into three, so it made it three on one :scared::nervous:... I had my work set out for myself.

After massive amounts of testing, tuning, and cursing (stupid understeer) she was ready. So Harvey, Onboy, and ACSR, Miss Scarlet is waiting for you in the forest.

TUNER NOTES -
Tuned on Deep Forest, but feels amazing at Nordschleife.
Still suffers from a little bit of understeer, but it can be a joy to drive.

I think Miss Scarlet did it in the Forest, with an Audi. :dopey:

Ok, since my driving has fallen to pieces overnight, I'll need someone to test my car one last time before I release the tune. I've found more sodding understeer and, if required, will use an even more extreme setup than the current one. So yea, test away…

Too everyone hoping too have their Alpine included in my next piece "The French Disconnection", be sure to have you tunes posted in this thread by Friday at 4pm PST as that is when I will begin my testing grind session. Also be sure to send my an FR on PSN so I can actually drive your car! I only have the one Alpine 310 and it already has krenkme's tune on it seeing as he made that tune at my request.

I declare you all notified:sly:

@comandorando87 my tune is already posted and the car is on share.👍👍

If the TT thing is still going...

Can I get someone to provide me the max/min values for suspension on it and do a guesstimate tune?

Just posted my tune for the "Devil's Due", will attempt to get it back on share now.

Also if anyone wants to test either of my AE86s please let me know as I'm most likely going to remove them from share so I can put up different cars.👍👍

So we have two posted, just waiting on three(?) more. Any testers willing to settle this one? :D

Leave them up over the weekend, but don't count on me to test. If I find time I will for sure. We'll see

Mine is on share for testing. Not sure if I'll get it posted this weekend but I'm fine with leaving it out if need be.

Wow…that really is all done blind…we must now bow down before the blind master of tuning!

But can you answer a few questions for me? I still don't get the bits of the tune I left in the quote…how does the dampers work when set like that? And I know that kind of spring rate with the Anti roll set at 1/7 makes it very…eh…responsive when you lift off, but doesn't the diff settings counteract that?

Eh, to be honest, I don't know what that kind of diff setting actually does, to be honest, so yea, I'm sort of talking out of my arse.

My testing for "The French Disconnection" is now complete, and the results are very interesting(to me at least). The full write up should be posted within the next day or two.

Lemme guess, the finishing order is:

Thanks for asking, actually. Front decel now edited in hopes of murdering all testers.

Dampers are, well, stolen off my Legacy wagon tune. Actually the entire tune save rear spring rate was, I nudged that up a bit because the TT isn't as long and will actually use it. I need feedback on it to go further, though.

Diff settings were the "usual", they may force some push on-throttle if you don't drive it "just so" but result in a hell of a lot of pull out of the corner; entry shouldn't have been hurt by how they were... But now that I've turned up front decel, it may well act like the CT230RR on entry.

Oh thank you, really, thanks. :scared:

Ohh, I see. But my question was more along the lines of "what does setting the dampers like that actually do to the car's handling?". Eh, I may not be the world's best tester or tuner or person to give feedback, but I'll try and do so without killing myself.

WOOOO!!! That's a good thing, this thing needs that kind of attitude.

And RJ, the gearbox. Set the usual way? Max speed to the minimum, final all the way across to the left, short 6th, balance the rest?

Yup. Bring back numbers for it. :P

Alright, retard moment from me, but what numbers? For the gearbox? If so:

1st- 3.690
2nd- 2.806
3rd- 2.217
4th- 1.816
5th- 1.541
6th- 1.324
Final:2.500
Top Speed: 112

If not, I'm guessing you mean lap times or 0-60 times, but the latter I can't do due to lack of DLC.
