I race hornets. Its like a street stock just. Little slower..front wheel stock car.. lots of fun!! Goodluck all tonight!

Slow in, fast out. Not flying in and overshooting a corner is a huge part of cutting down your lap time. Take for instance the first left hander at Motegi. I was running some practice laps last night and went in a little too deep the first few laps. When I started to brake later, my ghost passed me up initially, but I would get a massive run past it by being able to turn the car in sooner and get on the throttle earlier. Sometimes it feels like I'm crawling into the corner, but the end result is much faster.

And just practicing and practicing will make you better (may seem obvious, I know :P). I ran some 2:02's the first few laps before getting the feel of the car and course down. I ran a total of about 10 laps and broke 2:00 on one lap before I felt comfortable enough for tonight.

I noticed last week there really wasn't a defined host in the room, do you guys need someone to go through the rules and procedure this week? I'll be playing and have hosted many times in the past. I'm in Turtle Town now practicing as well if anyone wants to join.

Thanks e1 for your help I am working on it lil bit at a time I raced open shuffles today while employing these techniques. Took 1st place on a few races my 1st time winning PvP so hope I can get my big head thru the Turtle town door LOL thanks again e1. Your added support got me thru it 👍 PS: Go Ph1sh GO!

I'll post the results when i get a few minutes. Then ph7shr can tally it all up.

I know race #1 the podium was:
1. Dolph (pole 2:01.0xx i think)
2. Mic
3. Scarecrow
(Great battle all 15 laps between Dolph and Mic)

Race #2:
1. Scarecrow! Congratulations!
2. Dolph
3. Garagefather
(Scarecrow impressively led from flag to flag, but Dolph was right there with him)

Motegi is a tough track to pass on and we had a few bumps and scrapes, but that's racing sometimes at a track like that. From what i saw everyone respected each other for the most part.

We will get the rest up later and review any incidents. It was a fun night of racing, thanks to all the Turtles who came out; it was a very good turnout.

Apologize to all for my snafu at the start of Race #2. Apparently scheduled GT5 events induce some kind of psychosis in my wife. I'm going to have to tone it back a bit, family first GT5 2nd. Exceptional racing last night fellas & Jay Doc when your ready to try out your event count me in. Looking forward to trying something new and I'll get a chance to use my tuning skills. Thanks again everyone.

Thank you Mic! Could you pm me who got what position in each race? And fastest lap times and how far they were from the leader? Thanks

Now that was some fun racing last night! Congrats to Scarecrow on the race 2 win. 👍 I tried and tried, but never could get around you.

Race 1 (fast lap):

1. DolphDrago POLE 30:33.xxx (2:00.456)
2. micantony +01.369 (2:00.816)
3. Scarecrow937 +12.340 (2:01.242)
4. Garage-Father +33.270 (2:00.875)
5. RacingOtaku86 +43.622 (2:01.363)
6. mbobb1969 +1:05.156 (2:02.966)
7. randy1122 +1:35.665 (2:04.912)
8. jaydoc_and_meech +1:49.584 (2:04.576)
9. BustedFoSho +1 lap (2:08.585)
DNF cueball1954

incident on Lap 9 (Garage-Father & cueball1954). From my replay, i could not tell if garage-father rear ended cueball sending him into the sand. From cueball's car reaction it appeared to be so, but no contact sound occurred on my replay and visually it did appear contact occurred.

incident on Lap 10 (Garage-Father & cueball1954). There was definitely lag on my replay. It appeared garage-father undercut cueball causing contact, but then cueball's car jumped back 100 feet and was stopped. So with the lag, no way to tell what happened from both drivers perspectives as they would have seen two different realities.

No penalties given. Lag sucks and is unfortunate. We recommend using wired connections at all times in online races and doing your best to maximize the ps3 bandwidth on your network (port-forwarding has been known to help; see www.portforward.com).

Race 2 - Reverse Grid:
1. Scarecrow937 30:39.xxx (2:01.155)
2. DolphDrago +00.334 (2:00.413)
3. Garage-Father +13.917 (2:01.199)
4. micantony +14.956 (2:00.746)
5. hjhr75-08 +15.055 (2:01.880)
6. RacingOtaku +26.328 (2:01.712)
7. mbobb1969 +53.485 (2:02.895)
8. jaydoc_and_meech +2:15.598 (2:05.288)
9. GTP_Ph7shr -9 laps (2:02.120)
DNF BustedFoSho (stalled on starting grid)

incident on lap 2 (RacingOtaku & Garage-Father & micantony). RacingOtaku got a tire off track causing him to get loose coming out of the second hairpin, Garage-Father was right behind him when this occurred and dove to the inside, but they ended up getting together sending RacingOtaku off track; micantony then collided into the rear of Garage-Father as he had stopped to let RacingOtaku back by after the incident.
The first part was a racing incident as everyone was close together. The second part i would only say that you should not have stopped in the middle of the track Garage-Father, you should have kept going until you found a safe place to pull over and let RacingOtaku back by if you deemed it necessary. It may have avoided me running into your rear, but it all happened so fast, who knows as we were all scrambling at that point.
No Penalties given.

There may have been other incidents, but I did not see them and noone mentioned them to date.

Awesome Results Micantony! Thanks! Congrats to Dolph Drago on the overall win, and super fast laps! 👍

Does anyone else feel for Street Cars that we run Sport Softs instead of Racing tires?

I did enjoy all that grip in the Super Leggera, but honestly felt the race should have been on Sport Softs (i know it's PP made it fall into the RH range per the Turtle standards, but perhaps they could be updated for street cars).

Now, i'm not talking about going to Sport Hards so we end up with a drifting competition :-) If you're into that kind of thing and can find enough interest, it can always be implemented occassionally though.

FYI: i'm going to start thinking about our next "Special Event" 2 hour enduro. It's probably about time for one of those Next month.

Thanks to everyone that could make Saturday nights race.
A special Thank you to mic and Ph1sh for the results.
It was a great race and I look forward to doing again next week.

Great racing everyone. Especially to Dolph and mic for their straight up speed. I watched those 2 battle for 20 minutes and still slowly pull away from me each lap. I'm also thrilled at finally getting a Saturday night win with former D1 guys in the mix. Dolph was all over my tail for 25 straight minutes, just dancing in my rearview. He was blatantly faster but I slowed down to get exit speed for every turn. After every turn I was looking in my rearview to see if I got separation. He wouldn't catch up on the draft until about halfway down each straight. Slow in and fast out really paid off. I was enthused to finally not crack under the pressure. I think it was one of the first races where I was not the fastest car but won just with smart and calm driving. I fully admit I stood up and did a fist pump upon crossing the line. It took an hour or so for my heart to slow its beat back down, lol. Good racing everyone again and I can't wait for next week.

Btw, I agree that street cars should not go beyond sports soft tires...

👍 i was psyched for you Scarecrow. Dolph is such a great driver that we have to give our best effort to beat him! And when we can, it means so much. I'm still regretting my error on lap 14 allowing him past me in Race 1; broke just a hair too late coming down the hill and got slightly wide off track.

The battle for 3rd, 4th and 5th in Race 2 was a lot of fun too :dopey:

great races. (maybe the RH WAS a good idea! 💡 it did keep us close)

That was my bad. Everything happened so fast and I didn't make the right decision after contact. Bone headed move.

My whole weekend was filled with making contact and waiting up. My timing really sucked when close to other drivers this weekend. I think my reaction time was on slo-mo this weekend. I just did not react well to other drivers all weekend??????

I am glad the video evidence clears me in the cueball incidents. I am sure from his end that the incidents seemed very egregious but in hindsight, the lag monster was to blame. I am sure that doesn't make Cueball feel any better. For what it is worth, sorry for it ruining your night Cueball.

I think Motegi lends itself to tough decisions every turn too. You get just enough of a run on someone that you have to decide on the fly whether you can late brake them into the corner or not. But none of the straights are long enough to give you a clean pass unless someone makes a mistake.

That's why i love the track. You can keep up with the guy in front of you, but passing them cleanly takes effort, skill and a little luck.

Much like real racing where it can be follow the leader for many laps waiting for an opportunity.

For those that need a laugh and have the race two replay...

Apparently, after the stalled car in the starting blocks... in the chaos of getting through the pack I flipped on my wipers. Do you have any idea how I feel running a race I was that happy about, only to see wipers going through the whole replay. It's like being crowned prom king, and accepting your crown with a mud stain on your shirt. Maybe the wipers distracted Dolph...

I thought only Martin did that!:dunce:

Yeah, that stalled car and people moving sideways at the start was chaos. I think mbobb collided right into the back of BustedFoSho. All i know is that the seas parted and i flew right down the middle from 9th to maybe 3rd place by turn 1 :D
thanks Busted! (i mean busted's wife :mischievous:)

I knew another turtle used to do that, but I couldn't remember who. Apparently summoning Martin's speed also has a side effect of wipers.

All right guys maybe its time to rethink tire regs for street cars. I also agree that there was alot of grip for that race.
Post some ideas and we will go from there.
Also would anybody be interested in a tuning league if it was ran every couple weeks.
Feedback plese and thank you.

I like the current tire model, but maybe limit street cars to sports soft and maybe slide all the PP levels one grade harder. RM's should be case by case I think.

I would love a tuned series as long as there are stiff regs and car limits. There are a lot of people on this website that have put a lot of time into balancing cars. We should ask permission to use their regs... I just want to avoid the typical 550PP where everyone grabs the same Lotus, etc. BMW M3's at 550pp would be fun as there are 3 in the range. Or 550pp AWD only. I just want to avoid the ringer cars. Does what I'm saying make sense?

Yes and I agree maybe 450pp. The reason I ask is Jaydoc has some good ideas that I would'nt mind looking into. Also possibly a 600 or 650PP Street car shootout once in awhile.

That's 50% of my game! I would be very interested in a tune league would it be an advent of TRL? I think it would be a great addition.👍 Jay doc's themed event was to include tuning. We could use that model as starting event 💡

Yupyup... And I wasn't set on the performance point range... I was really just using that as an example. I'd race a Geo Metro if you let me, lol.

I think Jays idea is where I was really going... themed, but spec'd for equality. It just takes more work.
