TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - ENDURO Racing Series - PRACTICE TONIGHT!

The beauty of Turtle to me is that I don't have to spend all week tuning; All i need is a little practice, let Bob break in the car and i'm ready to go.

So, for my personal taste, i have no desire to tune cars and all the balancing and work/time that entails to find fair races/cars.

Of course, i'm also a guy who if i never had to get in a street car again in this game, i wouldn't miss them. Give me a true Race Car any day and i'm a happy guy.

Hey y'all, sorry I didn't show up. Wife came home with some movies and all the kids where gone for the night. Shame too. I had my 380RS all broken in and painted up. :/ I miss racing with you all.

If you guys wanted to do a tuner race, you could pick 3 cars that are equally matched when tuned, then let everyone pick one of the 3 to run. Or you could just pick one, let people tune only the suspension, tranny, aero and LSD. Could also do the same and pick what parts go on the car. We could also post our tunes so that even the people who can't tune, can still race and be competitive. I think we are all friendly enough to trust someone wouldn't sand bag their tune to have an advantage.

I'm with mic on the whole tuning thing. I have no clue how to tune and love to race stock. If you guys wanted to add a tuning series, that's cool. Just please keep the stock series around as well. :)

It's too bad you weren't with us, Wins. We had a great turnout and the racing was really exciting.

And Scarecrow, I had no idea you had your wipers on the entire race. I'll have to watch the replay.

Huh? what? I'm extremely competitive. I'm used to winning either through an excessive amount of playtime , trial and error, or straight out cheating. My basic gaming theology has always been, "If you ain't cheating you ain't trying". In fact this is probably one of a handful of games that I haven't cheated at :guilty: Your guys competitive spirit and respect for each other and the game has invaded my mind. Now I'm here taking my lumps learning the game on all levels tuning included. Meanwhile looking at all your rear bumpers drives me  but I know there is only one way to get better. By competing against players that are better than me. I would never even consider asking any of you to hamstring yourself so that I might feel more competitive which is exactly what the above quote is suggesting. I would be more than happy to share what I know about tuning but to give out my tune prior to the race would invalidate my struggle and everything I've strived for here at TRL. Trust me I wish all I had to do is "practice a little" and have someone else break-in my car (must be nice). But its not and week after week I finish last or worse DNF. But I'm still here, still improving a lil slower now but improving nonetheless. As long as everyone stays within the regs it will be fair and if you can't or don't want to tune then don't don't race. Simple right? Note to Wins: Aside from this one all your other ideas were great 👍

I agree with both sides of this conversation. I would like a tuning league, but mainly just for one-off races. The Saturday enduro is a tried and true formula that shouldn't be messed with. A rotating random Friday schedule (or whenever) of tuning and/or shuffling would be a lot of fun though. I vote to keep Saturdays as they are as the core of our league.

Ditto on the sans tuning league.

First i dont know how to tune and 2nd i don't have the time to play and test the car's tuning.

We can do it on a different day just like when we have days for formula 1 and flex.

Dont worry guys Saturdays are not changing. If there is not enough interest to do a tuning series we will just put a tuning race in once in awhile. Kinda like the races we do at the end of a schedule.
Thanks for the input guys.

You won't know how much interest there is until you try it. (and mbobb's idea of doing it once a quarter or so on Sat's sounds good too). It's up to you tuners to build the framework and promote it if you want it to happen.

... or we can do it once a month for starters but post the car, track and limits 1 month before. that is in order for people like me that has a huge learning curve with tuning cars have enough time to prepare and be at least competitive...

say... first Tuesday of the month... we call it "Tuning Tuesdays" <--- i know lame... :banghead:

then... as we progress make the tuning races more frequent.

I haven't got to race forever but just got a new g27 and a hd pvr. I would be interested in recording some races if you guys are interested in seeing them.

Glad to hear that Ohhbaby! Though I can't make it for practice tommorow night, I will make it on saturday though. 👍

how do you record a race?

The pvr's are little boxes that split up the audio and video signal. You run the ps3 to the pvr, then run the pvr to your pc and tv. On your pc, you can use a variety of programs to record the incoming pvr signal and viola!! Edit it, compress it and upload it. You can also stream them to livestream.com ustream.com or twitch.tv

I always wanted a pvr and looked into buying one. At the time, they where quite expensive but are very affordable now.

Hello Turtles, hope all are well still chasing those "aliens"! I have been feeling the need for speed lately. Is it possible to jump back in the with the Turtles for some enduro?

Of course!! We have the RX-7 '06 this week. I will be posting the schedule again sometime soon again! Welcome back ThirdRoy!

Hello all,

I've been working on the idea for a tuning event a little more, I saw MBOBB was putting out the feelers on it as well, thanks all for the feedback. If it were to start, I'm thinking September to get it rolled out. Maybe by the end of the week I'll have all the details worked up to start a separate forum post on it to move forward. I'd really like to keep it under the TRL umbrella, since TRL has helped me learn so much of the online aspect.

More info soon, working it out with MBOBB to get it ironed out.

Thanks!

Cool! Looks like were going to have another full house this Saturday 👍 I'm looking back in the thread and I can't see where anybody ever mentioned doing away with or replacing Sat Night Enduro? That would be like getting rid of our bread and butter

We are keeping it. It's the reason why most people raced here to begin with. It's actually supposed to be on lower graded tires so that people can do pit strategies and tire wear strategies, but with all that's going on lately. I think it's just to give us something competitive to race. If I remember right, when Phisher and I tested out the Leggera, we decided that sports mediums would be about the max to run on motegi.

Correct

These are the two main tuning sites I use. Between them they have every car in the game http://adrenatune.com/ http://www.gtvault.com/ Many tunes are interchangeable per the drivetrain of course. If you find one you really like you can generally use it on multiple cars. Although their are some cars like the Shelby GT350R '65 that won't run on a standardized tune and need to be customized to fit your driving style. Fortunately they only account for about 15%of the cars available in GT5. On the sites you'll notice each Tuner tends to have his own unique tuning style. Here again if you find one that works best for you go back to that garage when looking for a tune for your next car this is a real time saver! I always use the sites to find my base tune and then I test n tweak it from there to get the best HP:Handling ratio. Haven't gotten quite good enough to tune a car completely from scratch LSD continues to baffle me. I'm an intermediate tuner at best but if you have Q's or need advice w/ a particular car or track PM me and I'll do my best to help 👍

I was so unaccustomed to racing sims I didn't even noticed tire wear or think about pit strategies until my 4th week 15 laps @ SS5 on comfort softs I think it was. By the end of the race I couldn't take a turn and keep the car on the track :dunce: in fact it really didn't hit me until I got lapped and you guys all weaved around me that I realized you guys were on fresh tyres.. :dopey: Brilliant!!! I remember my 1st week I accidentally started the race (Motegi was the 2nd time) and I raced the 1st race on the wrong tyres..aaaaahhh good times. Thanks again to whoever pointed that out to me.

Hello guys I will be in Turtle Town tonight at 8:00pm est for practice. I look forward to racing with some of you this evening.
See you on track.

The plan is for me to be there tonight, but like any married man... nothing is guaranteed, lol.

Zoom Zoom!!

I know this statement all to well. I'll be getting home tonight around 7, but I've not been home since Monday morning. Chances of me showing up are slim to none.

Adrenatune is the shiznit I only use GTVault when I can't find it @ Adrena. After the first week I had used about a hundred tunes & started to feel :guilty: so I donated $5. All goes well I'll see you guys @ T_T 2nite
