TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - ENDURO Racing Series - PRACTICE TONIGHT!

Congrats to Dolphdrago and HJHR for their wins last night!

I was able to keep pace with the div 1 and 2 drivers for a bit however I make mistakes whenever I am driving close with another car. Also, if I am chasing someone and about to close the gap, I get anxious and make mistake to lose what I already gained. How do I stop this?

Just be patient. When you are catching a driver, then when you get right. Who behind them. Just be patient. The driver ahead knows you are right behind them, eventually you will find a spot to pass them. You don't have to pass them right away. That's what I've learned, and maybe that will help you.

And be aware of the effects the draft has on you. You will increase speed and have less downforce on your car. That will affect your braking zones and ability to slow down, so it can throw you off. You need to brake a little earlier and realize you will have less grip, so be prepared for it.

that is the area i find people make the most mistakes and why we have rear-end collisions a lot of the time. When you're close enough to draft, you will go faster and easily be able to catch back up; but it doesn't mean you are faster than them necessarily once you are not in their draft (hope that makes sense)

Yep, the wacky draft effects will make a trailing car unstable. I like to practice following someone before a race if possible. It's good you've pinpointed an area to improve upon, concentrate on that during hot laps or practice races.

It was good to be back on track with you guys. Wish I hadn't lost concentration a couple times, that's one of my weaknesses. I'm nowhere near as fast and consistent as the winners so I try just to keep a steady pace. I can hit some fairly fast hot laps on occasion but during a race I can zone out.

I'm just happy I can run ABS 0 and keep pace, tried to use cockpit cam too but that RX has a bad blind spot. Shouldn't have tried switching back and forth between views, doh.

Hello all, just a heads up, I hope I'm not jumping the gun on this, but I wanted to get it out there with time to spare before September. I started a new thread for the High Speed Touring Series taking place on Thursday Nights.

I hope some of you may be able to join in on the races!

Thanks!

Ohhh... patience... next advice Phish! I'm just kidding... yeah you're right... I tend to lose patience quickly but that's a skill I really need to work on.

good point here... I notice that however, sometimes for the fear of rear ending the driver ahead, I brake a lot earlier then lose a lot of ground.

Thanks to you NCRthree! Our little practice when I found you in turtle town the other night helped me gain about 1 sec... during the turtle night practice i was only doing 1.34's but when you showed me some lines I was able to do 1.33's during the race.

Hey Bran Flakes, Wednesdays are practice for enduro, but I think that's it.

That was some fun racing last night. I had a good battle for the lead with hjhr in the first race. Then he quickly sliced his way up through the field in race 2. It took me a little while longer to get back to the front. I had a great race with NCRthree while trying to catch up to hjhr. After I had gotten by you the 2nd time, I looked in my mirror and saw you go off into the kitty litter. It must have taken forever to get out. I was pretty quick on the long run as the tires started to wear down, but I was only able to cut the deficit from 10 seconds midway through the race down to 3.5 seconds by the end. It was a case of "too little, too late." Nice win, hjhr!

Congrats to Dolph and hjhr on thrie wins Saturday night. I hate I missed that one it was one of my favorite combos. Freakin rain and satellite Internet don't get play well together.
If anyone needs any rain we've had 28 inches over normal so far this year in the western Carolina's. Just ask I'll send you some.

Yeah, that was some fun back and forth. I saw you coming up like a stalking shark for a few laps. You're way faster than me so I knew holding your draft was my only hope, should have been watching my line instead of your car and slipped up. I think lap 20 was my downfall in race 1 too.

Glad you got faster johnsom, that's a tricky track-very easy to get too deep in the tight sectors and lose lots of exit speed. Fun when you get it right, painful understeer if not.

dolph thanks, I knew that the only way to win the second race, was passed to all as quickly as possible, because I know you're faster than me, under pressure, I still make mistakes, as very good races with all who were present, thanks and see you at the next one.

Now this is the high quality racing chat, tips and advice I need! C&P some of this stuff to my notes. Thanks.

Any racing going on tonight? I want to try out my new wheel and PVR on some GT5.

Maybe later tonight 6 or 7pm PST I'll be on breaking my Lexus in before practice this time. Been stuck on Farcry3 & I need to change it up 👍 The Lexus got scratched? I think I already have a broken-in Ferrari 599 in my garage. Good lookin out Socks thanks.

I think I'm going to pass on the Ferrari/Indy race... I can only get 1:40's and the car is too tail happy for my skill level. And I don't like the brakes... Way too weak... lol

If your running 1.40's that's good. Keep it on the track and you might win. I ran 3 laps this morning, only able to get 1.44's. Going to be a fun ride.

Bionic, why don't you race? If you can do 1.40 then you are waaayyy faster than me... i was slippin and sliding last night when I practiced. I don't even think I can survive this race.

I will see you all in practice tonight!

Any idea how many laps we're racing? I am guessing 20 laps?

Jay*Doc will let everyone know how many we are running, if I remember, if we are doing 2x45 minutes races, it will be 32 laps

Hello guys I should be in Turtle Town tonight at 8:00pm est. I say should be because I have a meeting with my contracter tonight, I know I will be there I might be running a bit late. If I'm not there by 8:30pm est go ahead and start the races without me and I will join in when I get there. The laps should be half the race length, from the times put up it should be around 32 laps for the race and 16 laps for practice races. I look forward to racing with some of you tonight, so be there or be square.
See you on track.

I meant, "I was doing 1:40's," as in I was doing times from that to the 1:50's and everywhere in between, and a lot around the 2 minute mark from going off the track. My best was a 1:41, but the closes after that was in the 1:44's.

My times are all over the place, and if I do go tonight, it'll probably be to just mess around and see if I can actually get used to the car. I'll never get used to the brakes, but I know how to move the car to get it to oversteer and do a little slide around the corners... So there's that.

same here... i think i average about 1.46's... i am pretty sure our div 1 drivers can do 1.39's easily.

i think the car is a lot faster than the tire that we use for this race hence the minimal grip of the car... i am guessing it will be different if we use a race tire instead to have more grip.

I'm sure there's a couple of guys left that can run 1.39's but a man would have to run 1.41's or Better every lap to finish the race in 45 min. I guess they could do it. Not me though.

That's three of us running about the same Lap times and I bet busted is rite in that range too. So we should have some fun close racing.
And the more of us that show up the better the racing will be.

AMEN! 👍

Just gave this combo a try offline in Practice Mode. Yep, it's tricky all right. Early brake for turn 1, roll through the rest of the infield and get that line just right unto the banking. IRC and this crazy horse don't like a heavy hand. After a few laps to figure out throttle control was into the 1:38's. BL 1:38.4xx. Running ABS 0 B/B 2/0 and 3/0. Cockpit cam.

All I can say is...STUPID INDY ROAD COARSE!!!! Busted will not be posting his lap times until they stop becoming so side splittingly LAUGHABLE  There's got to be something on GT5 that Busted is good at. Somebody help him before he starts modding and chopping GT5 up into itsy bitsy teeny tiny little pieces :mischievous: Busted just pawn in race of life  Busted is glad to know that even NCRthree (Busted calls him THE BLUR cos that's all he sees when BLUR whizzes by him) has difficulty focusing on the long race. Busted does the same thing he even starts forgetting to downshift when he brakes after about the third or fourth lap. WTF is that about? It must be the DS3 psychosis, the D stands for D stands for dementia :boggled: OH THE HUMANITY!!!! :banghead:
