ETA: Didn't realize how expensive this could get. I'm just getting back into GT after losely being into it before (GT3). I currently own 29 premium cars with 1.6M in cash down from 2.0M when I bought and tuned a F430. However, I'm stoked and ready to invest the time to learn. I have a wheel...and a wheel stand on the way.

For the times you aren't up for racing can you still join the lobby and watch races? I'm very new to the idea of the lobby, didn't know they existed. TIA.

Hey sonusfaber, thank you for joining the Turtle Racing League - FLEX Racing Series. The color combination and car number you have chosen are both available. Just accept the PSN Turtle FRs we send you and you should be good to go. We have practice in Turtle Town from 8pm - 11pm Eastern on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Please join us for practice to get your feet wet. Welcome to the Turtle Racing League!

Okay.

I don't know if I'll make practice tonight. On my way home from Bedford Indiana and its about 4 1/2 hour drive. By the time I get home, beat the wife and love on the dog, it might be over. This job thing is really cutting into my play time. :X

AND YOU GAVE MY #7 NUMBER AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH lol I'll pick a new one if I can't have my old one back.

Oh man, Ph1sher jumped right on it. If you don't mind please choose another number. I really didn't expect anyone to jump on a number. Sorry!

You can just give me a random one that's not in use. All my "special meaning/lucky" numbers are taken anyway lol

Hey friend, you can run the NASCAR seasonal and detune your car to around 575 on Monza, cut the chicanes and get a cool 3 mill per win for about 12 minutes of racing. That should get you set on money for cars. Also, do the dupe trick for paint chips and cars.

martin_ky is the series director and made the schedule. I had the same question. He said they work and it's fun. 👍

Cool. I read that the lounge number would come with the FR...is that right? I was looking for the practice today to see what it looks like. Please let me know if you or someone can get this to me. thanks.

I'm still learning to get some 3rd place wins with full PP. This sounds like something extremely difficult for my skill level. I am a level 21 if that lets you know how long I have been racing.

Psycho is right. Sports softs are great fun, a little slide in them but still controllable.

Thanks. I still feel like I am quite outmatched here, but at least I don't have to worry about being out-tuned in this league. It's strictly up to the driver and his/her setup (had to be PC there; any female drivers here?).

Also, is there a place where everyone talks about their equipment? For ex. I have a GT Driving Force with a Wheel Stand Pro on the way.

Hey sonusfaber, the FLEX Racing Series is a challenging series for 2 reasons. One, part of the reason it exists is to be challenging. Everything is going to be thrown at you. Just "finish the race" kind of stuff. And secondly, there are no divisions in FLEX, you race against all skill levels. The Enduro Series philosophy is to use a fun car on a fun track. There are also divisions based on skill level in the Enduro Series. I suggest you join the Enduro Series as well. We have practice tonight at 8pm Eastern. There is a good chance your color combination and car number will be available in the Enduro Series. If you would like to join just post in the Enduro Series thread your color combination and car number. Thanks!

I most likely will do that after I get my optimal setup. Right now I am just using a GT Driving Force mounted to a coffee table and the pedals below. Quite taxing on the back so two 45 minute races would be too much I think. I only do 5 lap races now in GT5. I'll keep up with how things are going and let you guys know when the time is right. I'm looking forward to it...so much so I'd rather skip the birthday present and just order it myself, but that might not go over well with the wife.

Hey sonusfaber, I remember how hard it could be to make money in this game too. I must have done 10,000 miles at Indy in the American championship before I got Internet again back in January.the seasonals are the place to make lots of money and exp points. You can try the 620 super car seasonal with a Mazda furia set to 530 pp you can make 1.9 mil in under 8 minutes.this series will be a lot of fun and a good way to try and learn a lot
from better drivers. If u need a car for any of the races just let me know I'd be glad to give u which ever one's u need. Just pm me here on GTP and send me a Fr on PSN my PSN I'd is randy1122.

Hey Guys. I know some of you may have already read this in the Enduro Series, so this is just a further post for those who may not be a member of the Enduro Series. I am here to report some sadness, but possibly some good news too. I am going to have to drop from the Turtle Racing League as a whole. I am having a schedule change at work, and because of it, I am not going to be able to compete at all with you guys. If any of you have seen my previous posts about my shifts at work, you will see that I was previously on an opening shift, which made it tough for me to still be up and aware by the time we actually raced on Friday and Saturday nights. Now I am shifting to the complete opposite, where I will now be closing, so I will still be at work when you guys are wrapping up the races for the night and heading over to the turtle town lobby for the after race cool down. The only nights I have off now will line up with practice sessions, so its not really worth it to me to stay in at this point.

I'm still planning on staying updated on you guys, and hope to come back and race again soon, but I will be on this new schedule for the foreseeable future, so I have gone a new route to still allow me to get my league racing fix. Announcing the MCCS: Multi-Class Championship Series! as it states in the title, it is a multi-class series, which allows for multiple classes on the track at the same time, so that everyone can learn from each other, and still be competitive with drivers of a similar ability level. we also have a NASCAR only Division, which will trade out races on a bi-weekly basis, allowing for 2 Division championships occurring simultaneously, as well as an overall championship race for those who race both Divisions. Feel free to check it out. I'd love to have the company, and we should have a full schedule posted soon, as well as updated details regarding expected cars for the upcoming season.

I'll miss you guys,
Casa

Thanks Socket. I will most likely be doing this. As you probably read, it's hard to put much time into the way my wheel forces me to posture now. After a few laps I need to stretch back. I'll FR when I get home.

Hey Martin,

I still have a question about viewing active races while not being entered into the race. It seems like this is easy enough, but it takes up a spot that someone could be in to race. I guess this doesn't matter on a light night with just a few racers, but otherwise seems to interfere. Can you elaborate on this?

Easiest/cheapest way to make a rig is to get some square tubing, drill a few holes, use holes to bolt it all together and you have youreself a rig, Just go to a junkyard and get a comfy seat. You could it all for less than $70 for sure. I did when I got started.

I don't know what your budget looks like, but up until several months ago, I used a DFGT, and put it on one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Xlerator-Wheel-Logitech-Driving-Playstation-3/dp/B002V3QMRE

It's inexpensive, lightweight, adjustable, durable, and allowed me to sit comfortably on my couch and drive for hours on end if I wanted.

While I'm not a "big" guy per se, the bigger one gave me more room around my legs and just felt roomier, but it won't fit in a recliner or office chair, for example.

I velcro'ed the pedals to it, so I could just fold the pedals up and it puts away very easy.

I used this with my DFGT for almost three years and was really happy with it. So just my two cents to throw out there as a possible solution.

Just tell your wife it's a little over $100, but it's priceless to your back. She'd have to concede then.👍 :)

(by the way, I'm not affiliated with that product in any way, just really liked it is all, make sure I throw that out there) :sly:

Hey guys, so whatever WRC car we choose do we have to stick to it or can we change from race to race?

It is "Reverse Grid", so if changing cars affects your starting position (will one of you smart guys let us know if it does, thanks!) the answer is no, you can't. If it doesn't affect your starting position martin_ky will need to let us know.

Changing cars is allowed and doesn't affect your starting position.

@ sonusfaber, watching a race is no problem. Unless we have a full room and need another spot for a driver.

10-4. Was wanting to watch the F1 series, but maybe I'm not a member of the Div 1 lounge and that's why I can't see it. Any help is appreciated.

Rig now is a highly modified play seat rig that I won. Only thing remaining from the stock setup is probably the seat mount lol. Playseat's seats are crap IMO. So I found a wrecked 05 GTO in a junkyard and took the seat. Kinda regretting the leather sometimes, but boy o boy is it comfy.

My rig consists of 4x4 and 2X4 with a seat from a late 90's Integra. Seat was free from a friend and the wood was laying around the house. It's small enough to fit in that closet in the background when not in use and cost nothing to build. Not much to look at but works great. Fully adjustable seat with lumbar support :)

Here's an old photo back when I had a DFGT. Now it has a G27.
