The Hell?:
The fifth UK Gran Turismo Party, obviously.
Basically, we arrive in the morning, play GT4 against each other for 16 hours then leave, shattered. Only to repeat it the next day. This particular weekend is a bonus, because it's Bank Holiday Monday on the 29th, giving everyone a day to get back home to their various parts of the country and recover for work the next day. Unless you have a weird job.
As of yet, the venue has not been finalised, so don't go booking any days off work (if required) just yet, but there's no reason to suspect, with the collective experience of NINE meets between the current attendees, that there won't be a meeting on this weekend.
What do we have to do?:
At the moment, squat. You'll need to bring some cash with you, as the venue needs hiring and food/refreshments will have to be bought. If you can bring along a networkable PS2, a memory card (preferably blank, so that we can clone the network settings and savegame to it), a copy of GT4, a DS2, a Driving Force Pro wheel, a television and/or a complete rig, please do so. If you can only attend the Saturday, please be prepared to leave any stuff you bring and I'll take personal responsibility for delivering it back to you, intact, on the Monday. TVs are probably the biggest problem, as we need one per active racer and, unless you're in LCD heaven, they're quite bulky things to transport...
I'll be providing network switches and cabling to make the whole thing happen.
So... the racing is?:
We go for Arcade Mode races, 6 up, no driving aids and medium tyres (either R3 or S2, depending on the car). There'll be several events spread over the days, themed to car groups (DTM, SuperGT, LMP, Super Saloons, 60's Brits, 70's Japanese, "Class A" Handicap and TVRs have all been events in the past), maybe with Fabulous Prizes To Be Won. There'll be a mix of full-on race cars for the people who absolutely, positively must set outright lap records, and a variety of road cars, for those who like unusual challenges. Contact is discouraged, any more than two changes of direction (blocking) is discouraged and honourable behaviour is the norm. Remember that the guy you tag is only two seats away...
The aim this time is to have at least two sets of races ongoing at any one time (which, yes, will require 12 PS2s, 12 "controllers", 12 TVs, 12 seats - you get the picture), with a possibility of having a voyeur PS2, for recording the action onto video/DVD (for future blackmail purposes).

If you have been left off the primary mailing list, I apologise as it was a quick, off-the-cuff response to my finding out that Smallhorses was able to come. This post will be updated as more attendees, and more information, become available.
