My offer to you is still open, should you require it...

Ok, thanks, but it's all a case of distance for me. My parents aren't happy about anyone picking me up that i haven't met before, and that's pretty much the end of it... :( One of them would have to take me, and if it's too far it's a no-no.

I'll bring along a copy of the police check certificate I had to have done before they let me work in a school... :D

If you have an old-school, breezeblock PS2, you'll need to buy a network adapter. These are not made any more, so eBay it is.

If you have a new-style, svelte PSTwo, it has one built in.

Bother. I've got the big black brick, but no Internet purchasing abilities (yet, waiting for the bank to get back to me) - unless someone has a spare adaptor? :sly:

Chop'n'change. If it works, GAME will give you £60 for it, so you can buy a slimmy for £40.

I'll fly over if a few of you would provide accomadations!

All I can offer back is Disney tickets!

I wanted to go to Europe this summer anyway. Looks like those plans are going to fall threw though. Alaska is probably where I am going now.

It's going to be a bring-your-own-sleeping-bag affair, probably.

Sleeping is by no means compulsory... :D

Would the plane ticket be worth 36 hours of racing, mano-a-mano?

I would have the plane rides to sleep it off.

I think its cool you do this type of stuff. To the point that if I was going to Europe, I would plan it around this event.

Maybe I will keep it in mind if you do it again next year!

This is one thing I can help out with, I have the old brick too!
Got all excited before GT4 was released and bought the network adapter and even a wireless network gizmo for it, so both my wife & I can have our laptops & the PS2 online at the same time.... sadly the network adapter for PS2 has never seen the network as GT4 arrived with B-spec :yuck: and Photomode :indiff: instead of online play! :grumpy:
I doubt there's anything different in an NTSC machine adapter than there is in a PAL one, the power for the adapter is provided from within the PS2, probably 5, 12 or 24V which'll've (<---apostrophication of the day!!!! :D ) been converted from mains voltage by the internal transformer.

Unless anyone knows differently, I'll bring my network adapter 'cross the "pond" with me.

I finally got an answer from my parents and they don't improve me going to GB on my own, especially because i'm meeting people who i only know via internet :(

This, from a parents perspective is perfectly understandable, you're their most valued possession, and there's no way they're going to let you go and meet a strange group of internet folks in Belgium, let alone a different country! :scared:

In other news....
I booked my filghts yesterday, SFO to Boston, Boston to M'Cr on 11th May, and returns on the 30th, so I'm 100% for attending! Told my Mum about it today, and when I said I was going racing, she thought I meant Windsurfing, Mountain Biking or Snowboarding!!!!
As if? Snowboarding in Nottingham?!!!
Sorry Mum, but I'm now a professional GT4 nerd!!!! And I love it! ;)
Relishing the thought of meeting so many other professional GT4 addicts too! :D :scared: :nervous:
Let me know if the network adapter will be useful and I'll cart it 'cross the pond wit' me! 👍

Don't forget to bring adaptors and extension leads, folks....

This is a real dilemma! Take my GSX-R 750 to Germany for annual pilgrimmage to the Nurb, or go oop north to meet all the folks I've heard so much about? Aaaarrrggghhhh!!!

I'd like totally come, but i'm not sure if I could fit a TV in my car. Oh and i'm realy rusty at GT4, also i'm probably not that well liked either so meh.

You can go to the Nurb anytime. But GTP gatherings are a rare event...

Go on. You know you want to.

:)

I'm sure it'll come in handy; if I manage to get hold of one in the meantime I'll let you know. Thanks!

Well frequent attempts to get in touch with Famine by phone have failed (ive rung twice now!) so its onto the site i come to let you all know that as yet i cannot find a venue!

I have been reliably informed by everyone whos arm i have tried to twist, that they are fully booked for that weekend, with it being a may bank holiday weekend, which in english means, we all expect sun, and ice lollies and as a result, we want to book indoor venues, and run and hide from it all, or something....

The good news is, that there are a few of you on here who appear genuinely interested in coming!
excellent!

The bad news, is i dont know where you are going to be coming to yet....

Im still hunting, but its looking more and more like Famine will have to rescue us again....

I am sorry, i have tried, and i dont have much time to look these days as it is, but im getting "no" everywhere i go at the moment.

What is required is space, a kitchen is a very nice addition, tho not essential, and electricity.

A roof would be good too.

I will report back if anything develops, but in the mean time, Famine, give me a ring please, and initiate plan z.

👎:irked:

:grumpy:It'll happen, i promise:grumpy:

Moer bad news is, I just found out the other day I've got a building comitte meeting on the 29th at 6pm, and already couldn't make it on the Sunday. I'll have to see what I can do, but it's somethnig I need to go to, I hope theres another one I can attend.

I've been doing the Easter thang... Sorry.

But I have plan F currently in operation. The person I need to contact though is a bit busy today. Being a vicar and all.

Huh? Are you still driving one of those Fisher-Price sit-on-and-ride cars?

Don't tell me it's going to be in a church :scared: ... the roof might fall in :sly:

Just to keep you posted, I'm still available for the weekend in question - the current 'plan F', would it be feasible to come from London by train, or is it likely to be a necessity to have wheels?

Being a crap, London-based excuse for an adult human being, I don't drive much hence I'm not too keen on hiring a car, so will probably be travelling by train to wherever the meeting is taking place, depending on how accessible it is etc.

Had that conversation last year. That was joy...

Famine keep me updated where in the midlands it is, also I do not have one of those network cards. And what if I cannot bring my HDTV, would you have a spare TV.

Or would any of you close to me be able to give me a lift up to there.

Im in the same boat as Touring Mars, with the trian thing n all, couple of changes too getting through london..

Nothing on the money front yet but i do have a plan.

Ashley.

Also if someone is able to give me a lift up there, can I also bring my 360 up as well lol. I will also try to see if one of my family, can well give me up to it.

It's looking like being Sheffield again - though not quite the same place as last time. It's less than 200 yards walk from a mainline train station too.

Famine I hope you can reply back to my last 2 replies buddy.

Arrange transport all depends on having somewhere to be transported to...

Ouch:lol:

Brighton station to Kings cross Thameslink 1 and a quarter hours, KCT to St Pancras by foot half an hour to an hour, St pancras to Sheffield 2 and a half hours. The journey for me is well over 4 hours. Made worse by the fact il be on a midland from london to sheffield (ba-dum-tish). Also could be quite costly. Little under £40 for a standard single.
