Hey Famine....
you should make some of those fantastic name badges like the ones we all had at your gtp. I still have the original stuck to my game box. A must i think with so many attendees.

Lool, Suzanne got invited to a friends birthday party on the weekend of the lan. So I told her shes not backing out now and thankfully she seems to have agreed:)

if we do go for this idea, they had better not be stickers, i will run a mile and probably go to my mates party instead.

Yes i do have a fear of stickers

First, in looking around for some pictures to show Bite Me that the badges at the High Wycombe bash were not at all sticker-like, I came across this quote from the GTP Insider on-line mag regarding one of the 9 Boards World Championships:

The Numbers throw out a 10 man list. GT3mich, eggmann, Cosi, Sukerkin, LaughteranDMirth, rikki, Sly9, WasteGate and VB are their named drivers, with the lovely-named smooth being 10th Man. From personal experience in the aforementioned first UKGTP iLink, I know how quick Sukerkin, VB and WasteGate can be. Be afraid…

Ah, the memory of old glories

I did eventually find Wastegates old site which has some pics on that show the rather splendid 'conference' badges from that event:

Forgive the fact that I selected the one that shows my ugly mug but it is one that also shows the badges to good advantage.

The badges at the UKGTP that Famine first organised were indeed sticky (mines still stuck to my DFP) but were of the laminated variety so more of an encapsulated photo (of your GTP avatar). I have several badge holders (I have to wear all kinds of visible identifiers in my job to show I'm allowed where I happen to be) and can easily bring one along for your 'sticker' to be stuck to if you're trully phobic.

Someone will have a pen, and I assume you have a forehead so that solves that problem.

Stickers, or some other form of identification like that, would be a good idea. With so many people coming this time, it would be great if I could at least call everyone the right names...

On Topic: How about we include ages as well... that way you'll know who you can invite a beer or a Coke instead.

Wow, I'm old then most of you young fish. Sheesh!

As far as alcohol goes, I don't drink so it would be a big deal for me. :D

To be honest, I was starting to have SERIOUS second thoughts about this trip. But I've reassured myself and I'm going to make it!

Why the SERIOUS second thoughts Swift?

Basically, money. It's going to be a very expensive trip. Even with the sharing of the rooms. And since the date was set so late(I'm not blaming anyone here) the cost of the airline tickets was higher. Not to mention getting a passport(something I should do anyway). It's going to be a lot of money. Money I could do some other things with. But I want to get the heck out of this country for once, so I'm coming!

That seems pretty understandable to me, it sounds like a lot of cash - but all I can say is that UKGTP meets are pretty unique events, and I reckon you'll definitely get your money's worth... and hey, look on the bright side, atleast you won't also be spending a small fortune on beer!!

You had better!!!! :grumpy:

But on the real, it's about time for me to experience something of another culture.

That is assuming I can understand you guys. heh heh. :D

It's probably the British humor that will take the most to get accustomed to - but then again you'll be used to it by now hanging out with us here at GTP.

Yeah, that won't be a problem. It's all the words that you use that I don't know about that will be a challenge. Actually, it might prove to be very funny. :D

I'm really looking to see if Famine is as in your face in real life as he is on GTP. With any luck, I'm taller then him. But I don't have much of that lately. :scared:

I can act as translator ;)

I've actually had to do that once or twice, between Americans and Brits... then again, the American was from the midwest and the Brit was from Scotland.

Apparently the state symbol beverage of Maryland is milk:indiff:

Half men, half cat out there or something?

Wow, that's really stupid. I couldn't name half the things on that list and I've been here for over 20 years. The only thing I knew was the fish, bird and flower. Oh well.
