Bearing in mind i've never actually played GT4 and am really quite crap at driving games in general, can we have a special needs race, just for me?
(At least then i'll win something  )

There is an extreme special needs race - the No Holds Barred Test Course Draft Extravaganza (or NHBTCDE! for short). This is the only race where contact is wholly permitted and indeed encouraged.

The idea is that there's six really, really fast cars which, because of their gearing and aerodynamics, can't reach their maximum speed in normal circumstances. However, when they're following 5 other such cars on the Test Course, they most certainly can. But as soon as you hit the front of the pack, you're back to your aero limit again. Anyone who drops off the pack is royally boned, with almost no chance of ever catching back up (the pack travelling at 20-30mph more than an individual car can manage).

Think of it as a large scale Mission 23, but Wastegate invented it first.

There is only one rule for this race - wheel use is compulsory. Anything else - and I MEAN anything else - goes. As a hint, keeping an eye on your radar is a very good idea indeed.

Looking at the entry list it would appear that we have at least 3 of our fairer sex in attendance. Perhaps Famine can organise a race just for birds. Does GT4 have a Vauxhall Corsa with pink fluffy dice and matching steering wheel cover?

wheel as in DFP? :scared:

I would not be seen dead in anything with pink fluffy dice or covered steering wheel! And what is this Corsa car you speak of??? Just cos i showed my blondliness in a different thread Cracker my friend doesnt mean i will continue to allow this shower of abuse......

Okay, I'm booked into the Georgian Townhouse for the 5th and 6th for £65 a night. One thing....I have to arrive there by 10 at the latest she said so no late drinking sessions for me, dependant of course on how quickly we finish the races, etc.

:)

Hi Guys,

After some unexpected bills and TAXES.:grumpy: This trip has become economically unfeasible at this time. I really wish that wasn't the case, but it is. I simply can't put out about 1000$ over and above my regular expenses and pay my dumb taxes, car registration and other annual bills.

Sorry guys, I was REALLY looking forward to this one. :(

you could always come and get away from the IRS... kill two birds with one stone :sly:

Honestly, it's a real shame that you won't be coming. I was really looking forward to it.

Oh no. Where are we gonna get the token black guy from now?

Seriously though, that's a shame. I was looking forward to meeting you.

Oh (insert expletive).

You could always offer the room to TVR and split the costs ;)

In a single bed with a 19 stone southern lad? It'd be like prison for him :D

We only have a fake american coming now :( Only joking smallhorses.

Also I have come up with some nicknames so we don't confuse the two Davids.

[politically incorrect] I can always get the boot polish out - Black and White Minstrel style if that helps [/politically incorrect]

I'd just like to add an observation I made while testing cars for the Classics race.

The Alpine A310 is an absolute NAIL.

I'm guessing that's not the good one then .

Anyhow, surely there's only one choice for the Classics race? It begins with 'E', ends in 'uar' and has 'Type Jag' in the middle :D.

There's 10 cars in the Classics race. The E-Type is just too damn fast for the field.

Since Famine is the one who's putting together all of the races (albeit some have already been put together previously), can we have a series of events called DIY?

Every person attending comes with an idea of a specific race, then we put them all together in one massive championship and basically race it. No more than say, 10-15 laps per race and sticking to a fixed type of cars/hp/weight.

My idea is sub-compacts on a 5 lap race around the 'ring. Cars with approximately 100hp and around 1000 kgs. So it could be any of the VW Lupo, Citroën C3, Mazda 2, Opel/Vauxhall Tigra, Honda City Turbo, Pug 106, Honda Civic '83, Honda CR-X... There's many more; I'd have to check, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Just a thought, since I see Famine is the one going through all the trouble of putting together the races as well as the overall logistics and idea of making these get-togethers, it's only fair that we all put a bit in too.

My suggestion in that case would be Lancer v Impreza:D 3 people use Lancer and 3 people use the Impreza, then swap.

The races and series that we used are designed in such a way that everyone has a chance to win at some point.

A lot of the time, in the ladder series races, the faster guys will end up in slower cars, and vice versa. If everyone was in the same car, then Evil Dave & Famine would win every race between them.

He likes doing it, so we just let him. I've helped with some of the car testing too, even though Famine's Bob is faster than me! :(
