gonna take a big step here and say go ahead and see what you can book Venari! The date is a definate, as is the fact that we can't use the ol' regular. Its always good to have as much notice as possible of venue so that people can make arrangements and prepare for costs etc. Banbury sounds a great place and as good as any for a lan....

Right, so let me put this out now: I'm 100% sure I will NOT be able to attend. Details on why, shortly.

Thx for the push Cass, I'll second that! 👍

Well, it's a little premature to book, but I'll tell you what I have in mind.

Venue 1: Clean, nice and new, size unknown, next to minisupermarket, pub and chip shop, no obvious nearby accomodation (means drive/taxi) 2 miles to town centre, £60/day tops according to website (unknown full weekend.)

Venue 2: State unknown, size unknown, next to Sainsbury's, 2 miles to town centre, hotels in short walking distance. Price & weekend unknown but will be similar to above.

Venue 3: 10 miles out of Banbury, conference centre. Taxiing/driving required, £250 for weekend package (TBD) but small benefit of attached museum, will be staff hanging around(?) and museum area (separate for conference area) will be open to public.

I have some research to do, as you can tell.

But if sjaak's coming, then we should lay on the dancing girls, disco lights and hot- and cold-running toilets. :)

2 gets my vote based on the sketchy info above, hotels nearby, a pub of some sort I hope too? no driving needed whilst semi sloshed to get in to bed. Any B&Bs close by too?

1 seems ok too.
3 a bit out of the way

Venue two seems bout the best for the same reasons Rob said above. All we really need to be happy is somewhere for 12 tvs and set ups, a venue serving alcohol and somewhere nearby to sleep. taxis and lifts are a pain in the jack when an evening is over. I dont think they'll be much concern over the state... as long as theres chairs and tables we're easily pleased!

just really need to know an idea of area asap so we can start looking at accommadation. p.s. would help me to know its distance from the train station also. not a fan of walking!!!

Very tempting........................:sly:

Banbury,a 600 km drive, for now the prospects looks good to go.

And if we come,we will bring a complete six player set up.
Tv's,PS2,cables ,race seats and some grazy Dutch racers.:)

!

sjaak - you're the :censored:ing man, man. And Venari too!

Looks like the Ocho is already organised without any fuss or hassle whatsoever! I guess I'd better get car and event testing!

(and finishing up the UKGTP7 thread)

And that's exactly how it should be! These things are good fun and I'm happy to help where I can (e.g. prizes if not too bulky to transport in my little car)

Q. Are we going to flesh out the details in this thread or will you SOON be creating a new thread so we can start scoping out all details. :) even if the 1st post is just a place holder.👍

PS can someone explain the subtlety between a double and a twin room.
I suspect double means 2 separate beds in 1 room and a twin is 1 (big) bed for 2 persons.

It's the other way round. A double is a room with a double-bed (a big 6' x 6' bed) and a twin is a room with two single beds.

Well, if you do the latter, I could send you no less than 6(!!!!) pre-prepared, and after SFGTP1 last weekend, tried & tested events: 3 x handicap series & 3 x pick'n'mixes! (Actually that's 2 new pick'n'mixes, I just realised the DTM one was one of yours that I re-ran!)

There! It's arranged itself!!!! :D
Sadly there's no way I can make "The Ocho" though, unless I can find a convenient training class to attend. :(
