Each to his own Aldo, nowt wrong with that. There's a bit of something for everyone in TopGear.

And yes, the 458 Italia is a very nice looking machine indeed.

Back to the rest of the episode. The ads were amusing, some more than others, like the arm one. Jay Leno was excellent, too.

That last bit confused me. It would sort of make sense if it was a Bugatti Veyron or something, but there will be better cars than the V12 Vantage for a while yet I'm sure.
I was beginning to think it was some sort of metaphor saying this was the last series of Top Gear, but thankfully we know that isn't so.

Hoping for a miracle, but does anyone know where those roads were that was used for filming that Aston scene?

Looks like scotland, roads up by applecross and ullapool.

Looked like it, I've driven thoes roads and further north, some great stretches up there.

The Bathurst VXR wasn't all that exciting and I think it would drive me up a wall if I had to listen to that engine. It was loud and whinny, but not in the way a Ferrari sounds. I don't know I didn't like it, nor did I like the Maloo. Sure they were quick but overall they didn't impress me.

The car ad bit was OK, it had it's funny moments. I wish they would have taken it slightly more seriously though and came up with a genuine car ad that was clever.

Jay Leno was awesome, I was glad they got him on the show.

And the Aston, I have to disagree with Clarkson to a degree. Yes I think we are at an end of fast sports cars with petrol engines or whatever, but technology will advance and we will have fast sports cars again...only burning some other type of fuel or using a different form of energy. I think to many people are hung up on the idea that sports cars will go away, I don't think they will because there will always be a demand for them.

Even though this is enough evidence, I don't know why anyone brought up the series "ending for good" to begin with.
Did anyone but me pay attention & hear Jeremy say, "No more cars to test til' November" on the track" when speaking about Schumacher's "return"?

Anyways, I loved the episode. All I can really say. :)

He's just tryna make us assume that The Stig truly is Schuey, when obviously it really is not.

The ending was truly sad though, because I really cannot see a car company doing something like chucking a massive V12 into a little car like what Aston Martin did in the future, not in this climate, where all this Hybrid-electric-diesel nonsense is taking over. :(

I bet this last Top Gear was Paulies favorite... :P That Holden Maloo is pretty nifty actually... :)

I thought it was a fun episode, but it was one of the most ridiculous they've done yet. However, I did like the subtle drug-taking jokes in the adverts section ;)

 I forgot about that bit!
And as for the Holdens: I can't believe they are bringing Utes to the UK. There's not really that much of a market for them over here is there?

I thought the ending was lame. JC had obviously run out of things to say about the Aston Martin after writing a review for his column in the Times. If sports cars really were a dying breed I hardly think Top Gear would be as popular as it is and games like GT5 would be so highly anticipated.

Top Gear is popular for more than just sports cars. Same with GT5.

Holy....my uncle and aunt go up there for holidays and have been saying the roads are amazing. If I remember rightly they were in an Evo issue too.
Yeah some great roads. I don't have proper any pics of the roads but look at what you're driving through and over.

The town in the last pic is Ullapool.

Ullapool is a great place, the only problem is EVERYWHERE shuts at 9:30 pm and they have 1 wheelchair taxi in the whole area which was an issue as i was with a friend who was in a wheelchair and when we asked for the taxi so we could get back to the hotel we were told it was on it's way to inverness

The sky is blue and bears go to the toilet in the woods. Stating the obvious is easy, isn't it?

I still think many people (myself included) watch Top Gear and play GT for the sports cars.

Australia hasn't even got episode one of this season yet, but I seen the HSV section and was throughly entertained.:D I TOLD you all that HSVs are quick, and Utes aren't bad, now you have proof.:P

Honestly I did have my doubts, but those are gone now... :D The proof is good and surprising...

You'd be surprised:

Next up, bears and their toilet habits. The first point to be made is that plenty of bears (the disappearing polar sort) never defecate in woods. They don't see woods and they don't want them.

The question, however, is probably usually applied to black, brown and kodiak bears, the sort that are widespread across North America. And, yes, it's certainly true that during the summer months, these sort of bears do regularly defecate in woods. But bears hibernate. During the months of hibernation - as many as seven months, depending on local climate - bears neither defecate nor urinate. In other words, the outstanding fact about the toilet habits of American bears is not how much they s*** in woods, but how astonishingly little.

(Those seeking fixed points in a changing world might want to point out that the giant panda is a bear which does not hibernate, lives in bamboo groves, and excretes in the normal way all year round. While this is all true, it needs to be remembered that bamboo is a species of grass, not a type of tree.)

From here ;)

It wouldn't surprise me if more people watch Top Gear for the entertainment value and not for any sort of car. I know a lot of people completely disinterested in cars who watch Top Gear because it's a bit of a laugh.

Top Gear is as popular as it is because it's a good entertainment show. Bears don't poo in the woods as often as you'd think, and the sky isn't really blue, our atmosphere just happens to let through light from the blue end of the spectrum most easily during the day.

I was in stitches from Clarkson's VW ads. The ones with explosions.

You sir, are a very sad man.

Doesn't mean sports cars are what make GT & Top Gear popular which is what you're insinuating.

Sports cars only make up 95% of the Reviews & the Review segment alone only takes up 10-15 minutes on average & is usually shown early on. I highly doubt they are what everyone watches the show for, esp. when they come in as early as they do.

In fact, I'd be willing to bet the only reason people continue to watch TG are for the challenges which will usually having nothing to do sports cars themselves but traveling & races they just happen to be participating in. As Homeforsummer said perfectly, many people just seem to be watching it for the entertainment, not the cars. I myself, besides the challenges, really just like the show to see how Hammond, May, & Clarkson all interact. I've always thought the 3 make a great comedy team because there's always a gag they like to pull on each other.

On second thought, you're absolutely right. Sports cars have nothing to do with the popularity of Top Gear or the Gran Turismo series.
