From The Press Association:

"Top Gear's trio of presenters will follow in the tracks of the original three wise men in a Christmas special that sees them drive through Iraq. They will drive open-top sports cars through southern Turkey and Syria on their way to Bethlehem in the festive challenge".

Top Gear's three wise men go to Bethlehem for Christmas special

Ooops a bit late, posted before reading the thread

It says in The Sun's Christmas TV guide that the Top Gear special will be shown at 8:00pm on December 26th on BBC2, although it isn't confirmed, seeing as most of the programs in the guide have yet to be announced.

USA Road Trip for the TG episode on the 21st Dec. Modern cars

I'll be courteous with the spoiler.

The new Top Gear advert kind of gives it away really, if you have seen it that is. At least we don't have long to wait now :)

Just a reminder that there is a new Top Gear episode tonight at 8 pm in the UK, on BBC 2 and BBC HD...

:)

From radiotimes.com

As the tyresmoke trio return to our screens, a question hangs over the next series: what will they do about the Stig? Since the summer run ended, Ben Collins has unmasked himself as the human face behind the white-suited man of mystery, speed and poor musical taste. The producers were outraged and a million merchandising opportunities went down the toilet. Or did they? For the recent arena shows, the team introduced a new Stig, hand-picked from the "Stig farm" where they breed tame racing drivers (or so a brilliant spoof video on the show's website claimed). Whether he/she/it will make it to the small screen, we'll find out tonight. We'll also see Clarkson, Hammond and May test the world's top sports cars by driving a Mercedes, a Porsche and a Ferrari up America's east coast, where they face a series of challenges culminating in a race to New York.

yeah, it's not on hd though. Holby city is apparently :|

That's BBC One HD... this is on BBC HD, which is a different channel ;)

Fire bit was unfunny and staged...
Who else just saw that round-a-bout and got a little excited that they had been round it on GT4...?

Yeah, I thought that. That aside, I enjoyed the rest of the episode. A lot.

I really want a 458 now though. Replicate the episode on GT5 anyone? Oh wait....

:P

I did but drove round it on GTPSP. I enjoyed it and own both the 458 and SLS in GT5 in roughly similar colours. Stig situation is confusing. Ben Collins has left/been sacked but a new one was in Top Gear Live and at a track day at Dunsfold for a competition in the magazine recently but in this Tiff Needell was the driving coach (or Emergency Stig) as he was listed.

I though this episode made for a good start to the new series. Jeremy doing a drive-by with a CAR-15 and was pretty funny, but the Christmas tree catching fire wasn't. The race though Manhattan was good as well.

Great episode! I live an hour from VIR and have driven it a few times and watched a dozen or so races there - amazing track!

Also it was awesome for the hosts to come to North Carolina (we're not all rednecks though!). Like the stig-hatred too

After watching TG US for the past few weeks and mostly being annoyed with it, this episode reminded me of everything that makes TG UK so good.
