Guys, I heard something interesting in the music. If you can, watch that episode again and get to the part where they race through NYC. During that segment, one of the songs happens to be Everything Must Go (Chemical Brothers Remix) by Manic Street Preachers. For those who are in the know - the intro music to GT1! :D

Edit: If you can watch it on iPlayer, skip to 1:00.40 :D

Can I just say...

"OMG F40/959/288GTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111!!!1!"

Exactly my thoughts too.

The preview for this series makes it feel like they've got the magic back. The F40/959/288GTO segment needs to be substantial (like a good 15-25 minutes), and not just a few minutes of teasing at the begining of an episode that only goes downhill after.

It's interesting that Tiff didn't appear on screen to set times in the GT3RS and SLS, must be because of contractual obligations. Anyone else think it would be funny to have him as the new tame racing driver (under his own name, orange helmet and all) but silent like Stigs of the past?

the christmas special had some good laughs, james may's smack to the ground was something else, good thing it wasn't that bad

Isn't Tiff listed as a presenter for Fifth Gear, though? I imagine that would be seen as a conflict of interest working for both shows.

What a christmas treat! The US episode was fun as hell and I haven't watched the Special yet - there's a repeat today on BBC2 for anyone who cares.

Priceless as the Hamster was chasing Cpt. Slow - and lost badly.

Good to see the boys in good spirit return to the telly! 👍

That was a really good episode, and the ending was epically hilarious.

I'm always amazed at the kinds of things that they do and get away with. For parts of their journey (especially in Iraq), I wonder how much security forces are with them that we aren't seeing on camera?

Also, are they allowed to have 2 simultaneous passports like Clarkson had when he crossed into Israel?

They always had security forces with them, including a Hilux full of soldiers at several points. Also, when James broke down there was two soldiers on his shoulder at all times. Add that to blurry face man and I think they were quite well guarded at all times.

This did confuse me. UK nationals are allowed dual nationality but I can't for the life of me work out what Clarkson's second passport is.
[EDIT] :dopey: Isle of Man!

Am I getting this wrong or there are two new episodes? One that was aired during last week and the other last sunday?

Yes there are two episodes, one is a US special and the other is a Mid East special.

Yes he is, that's why I thought the non-speaking role gag would be funny. Technically he wouldn't be presenting. Still, judging by the fact Tiff didn't take the GT3RS and SLS around the track, I guess the contract is tight.

They were really good episodes, much better than last series so far. Also judging by the trailer it will have some interesting car tests too. I was hoping they'd test the Agera though.

I hate that I won't be able to see these episode until later! BBC America get's everything on a roughly 5 to 6 month delay. Oh well, at least I have something to look forward to.

The lap times wouldn't compare with Stigs any way just like how white stig was faster than black Stig.

Well they sure needed it considering how they seemed intent on being targets sticking out like a sore thumb with the helmets and jackets over their clothing :dunce:

tiff was the only reason i used to watch the old top gear, insanely good driver and could get anything sideways  it would be majorly awesome if he was back...doubtful though.

I like to drive all the diff cars at the Top Gear Track in GT5. Its silly that the board only covers your top ten times. I'd like to have like 1,000 cars and their times at the track. ;(

Record your times in Excel or something.

What a boring programme.
This has got to be the series that breaks the franchise into a complete reinvention of the format. The presenters must leave too.

Why? The presenters are half the fun and half the personality of the show. Bringing new ones in would only ruin it. They'd be very difficult to replace, because each one performs a psecific function in the show, and since you couldn't swap them out in one go (because you'd lose the audience), you'd have to do it one at a time, which would still be unpopular. The problem is that because each presenter fills a specific role, you'd have to cast someone with a similar personality in each part. So we'd lose James May ... for Mames Jay. I'm not sure if it's happened with TOP GEAR USA, but if you look at TOP GEAR AUSTRALIA, the presenters are clearly trying way too hard to be Clarkson, Hammond and May. In fact, there seems to be a lot of tension between two of them as to which one gets to be the Clarkson clone and which one is forced to be May. Clarkson is the most popular part of the show; without him, I think a lot of people would lose interest.

Replacing them would only kill the show. And I actually quite liked the episode as well, glad it's back.

I can't find anything boring about the latest episode. Also, I really don't think that the current Top Gear format would be completely altered after this series, but who knows what changes could be made to the program some time in the future.
