 What next? Fiat suing them for pointing out that they forgot to fit an aerial to the Abarth 500? It's an entertainment show, not a serious reviews program.

Well... not really. I'd say it'd be more like Clarkson driving said Abarth and creating a scene where it appeared to use up an entire petrol tank after 10 minutes of use.

Of course difference is that nobody would believe that, because the general public tends to have a vague understanding of the rate at which a 1.4 litre car tends to drink petrol. With the Tesla and its scary unpredictable electricity, though, people tend not to be quite so aware of when they're being fibbed to. So naturally, in Tesla's eyes it probably looks pretty dangerous.

Not that I'm condoning their actions, of course. They should be intelligent enough to know that you can't simply sue everything better.

Tesla need to prove this in the eyes of the consumer and 'petrol head' ('electrolyte head' ????) and not the courts of law.... for it to be worth anything to them long term.

Sell your shares in Tesla... they are getting desperate.

As the show was aired in 2008, why are Tesla just bothered about it now? Why didn't they care then?

And anyway, I don't really see anything wrong in what TG said about it.

I think it's quite funny that BBC America re-aired that episode last week. And soon after, a law suit comes about. It seems they missed the episode the first time around.

I have two questions:

1. Is Season 17 coming out anytime this year? (August-December?)

2. Are the episodes in the studio shot at day or night?

A friend of mine claimed to have seen the Stig riding on a moped. It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true.

Answer 1:. Clarkson said at the end of the last series that 17 should be on air in June.

Answer 2: I believe the studio segments in each episode are shot during the day.

I always wondered how that works. Being in the studio while an episode was on. I'm assuming the people who get to be on the live set get to watch the segments while there is some kind 'Let's Watch' hilarity with the presenters.

They film all the studio stuff for each episode every Wednesday before the Sunday it's broadcasted on.

Seems they've been filming this week in Monaco:

@JessKPenn I doubt very much I qualify as a 'star' for their dodgy cheap car. It's more for likes of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

I hear that they've been doing laps of Monaco with Christian Horner, Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone as co-drivers with the Citroen DS3 Racing, 500C Abarth and Renault Clio RS.

They've also been spotted in Italy with the afforementioned cars.

Less than 2 weeks before season 17 starts, great!

I might as well add this as well, it was shown as part of the BBC's build-up to the Monaco GP:

Great news ! I didn't know the next Top Gear season is starting this soon and I didn't know that they were in Monaco. Looks like another awesome season is almost here and i can stop watching recorded episodes:tup:.

^Damn, I'll be in Ocean City when that starts.
I guess I'll have to wait until the 3rd to watch it on my DVR.

EDIT:
BBC2 and BBC HD only, huh?

So I guess that means no info on a BBC:America release yet?

Alice Cooper will be the SIARPC this Sunday, according to the man himself on his radio show.

Anyone else watching?

I'm not sure why they compare the BMW 1M to a Golf GTI MkI, though...

First great quote of the series:

"There's room in the back for two children, and room in the boot for two more..."
