I actually enjoyed this one ,The Parkour ,bike race while awesome (the jumps they make and jumping into glass how do they not get hurt) it's still unrelated to cars and it is also scripted .

Mono and F12B bits were very good ,the production team and their mega budget do really set Top Gear apart from any other show and I always wanted to see the F12 on Top Gear.

News segment was enjoyable to my surprise ,I'll bet they'll do the P1 ,La Ferrari,New Zonda R thing

Taxi part was although scripted and not needed but I loved it to be honest ,Egypt does have those God awful Toyota microbuses and we do hate them just like the south africans so it's great that thing got battered.

Overall a decent episode 7.5/10

I wouldn't bet on it, but I sure hope they will at some point.

More likely is that they'll do LaFerrari vs P1 vs 918 Spyder to find the best hybrid hypercar. The Zonda Revelucion is still track-only.

Was a decent episode I thought, everything was good apart from The taxi race which was stupid, pointless, boring and its been done to death!

I loved the Stig 'some say' intro...'because he has been using Pirelli condoms, he now has 17 children'!

Now that's something I would bet on them doing someday. Plus if the Jaguar C-X75 wasn't cancelled, that might well have been another option they could've gone with.

And I know the Zonda track car wouldn't really fit into the lineup for such a road trip. Hammond's was beginning to get a little overenthusiastic by that point. That said, I would like to see them keep their promise and try to plan something involving at least two of the cars they mentioned.

Why not get all 3 on a track,I'm not sure they will get the 918 along side the other two ,won't seem fair.

Re-today's episode,I am not still not sure what Jeremy meant by that the F12 has too much power, wasn't he the one that was flying over jumos in a two lane road, any car will feel dangerous doing that, would also love if Ferrari would even allow it to see a lap of the F12B.

Edit:Just realised there was a scene in the Taxi segment that was shot in Egypt awwwwwwwww yeahhhhhh

Much better this week, no obvious choreographed sequences and decent car stuff. I bet the Spanish won't be too impressed with their depiction though, I'm sure most of that was exaggerated.

I'd say that was easily the best episode so far. The road trip was pretty decent, not sure how contrived all the abandoned towns were, and the results were a bit silly. Benedict Cumberbatch was a great guest. So yeah, more of that please BBC.

Definitely looked like a game of "Find the Least Populated Areas and Only Film There". Having a small, recently-built neighbourhood is far from the most accurate representation of an entire capital city. They may have closed part of that motorway just to add to the "Ghost Country" feel too. Although it probably wouldn't have been all that busy anyway.

The street circuit was a nice idea though, and it wasn't entirely (or obviously) scripted at times. News was half-decent apart from them spending far too much time joking about a surname, and Cumberbatch was a great guest.

Would have been better if TG scriptwriter Richard Porter hadn't written a joke into the news section that SniffPetrol writer Richard Porter used a month ago:
SniffPetrol
Day six: I need to take the dog somewhere so I lay a dust sheet in the boot and invite the hairy buffoon to get on board. She refuses. After some persuasion the panting idiot clambers in. Unfortunately, the RAV4 has a powered tailgate which appears to have been calibrated against John Woo’s slow motion machine. I push the button and the lid begins almost imperceptibly to close. The dog immediately smells a slow-moving window of opportunity and jumps out. After some persuasion, during which a passing stranger may have heard me call my own dog a ‘knob’, the hairy oaf gets back in the boot. I push the button again, the tailgate begins its aching slow crawl downwards, the dog nips out of the still-massive gap and almost runs into some traffic. For attempt three I push the close button and then crouch on the floor holding the dog. The tailgate creeps towards us then detects my arm in the way, stops and opens again. DAMN YOU TOYOTA. Eventually I close the tailgate manually which solves the main problem but makes something in the mechanism whirr and sound like it’s not meant to do that.

I quite liked it. The Street Circuit and Benedict Cumberbatch as the Guest were the best bits. I knew I recognised him from somewhere, (Star Trek!), quite a funny guy.

Honestly though, if I had to choose between the Audi, the Ferrari or the McLaren, I'd choose the Jag. And buy a coupe with the money leftover.

I enjoyed every minute of that, good news section, great SIARPC section, and really good road trip in three epic cars. Let's hope the rest of the series follows in the same vein.

Also out of the Mclaren, Audi and Ferrari, I'd have the McLaren.

About the start of the film, was that meant to be a dig/note about how Gibraltar is British? It seemed odd, like they were trying to make a point but didn't quite.

Very good episode, loving the camera work again (gorgeous stuff  ) .

tough choice between all 3 ,I'm kind of leaning towards the Audi for soley that V10

Quite liked this episode, but then again, I usually always enjoy their road trips together. The depiction of Spain was exaggerated a bit, but after the last 10 seasons, exaggeration is nothing new to this show.

Out of the 3, I would have the Ferrari as well. The McLaren is even more stunning in Spyder form, but to me, the design still lacks that beautiful aggressiveness the Ferrari carries.

Found it to be quite a waste of an episode, they've reviewed all of these cars in the hard top before, the challenges were kinda wasteful too, it was a tiny bit interesting learning about abandoned Spain, but otherwise, useless episode.

And in years to come, owners of the Audi and the Mclaren won't have anything as special at the Ferrari will become, it just is a rebirth for them from a long time of blandness.

Review the Golf GTI VII, then I'll be happy.

No way, the 458 is another of those over-computered gadgets, like the Nissan GT-R. And MP4-12C. Which I'd have over the Ferrari, anyway.

I liked it a lot as well, but I was annoyed by the amount of attention they gathered at Puerto Banus. That's what, in my opinion, ruins Top Gear. It never happened in any of the über-epic road-trips and when it happens it sort of delludes the sense of "three simpletons doing a road trip wth supercars, having a laugh" I love of this kind of segments. It also doesn't help with Jeremy's ego. The mountain road and the city circuit were epic though!

I cannot believe though that the episode didn't have space for any other segment (well, besides the news and the SIARPC). When the episode finished I couldn't believe it, I guess time just flies when you're watching a good episode of Top Gear.

And BTW, it's a hard choice between those three. I love them all and don't consider one better or worse than any of the other two. That said, I think I'd go with a BAC Mono or something like that: With that kind of money, what do I need common sense for? :dopey:

An ok episode - not what I would call a 'road trip' episode as it all seemed a bit haphazardly put together, rather then stringing together a journey.

I was hoping instead of the Audi, someone would have picked the 911 Turbo but I am guessing it hasn't been released yet.

Nice SIARPC segment though.

Easily the best episode of the series so far last night, everything about it was great, some of those deserted construction sites looked spooky and would be a perfect setting for a zombie horror film!

Also did anyone watch the Hunt/Lauda docu on after? man that was good!

I think the episode got better as it went along, the road trip segment only got good when they went into the deserted areas IMO. I found the background info more interesting than the cars, it became a pseudo 'Parorama' documentary on the economic crash in Spain.

I am shocked at the build quality of that Ferrari, a bit of grit and the car 'rots' away, plus its held together with questionable glue.

Cuberbatch was a decent guest although he offended Trekkies and probably offended American's even more!

About the start of the film, was that meant to be a dig/note about how Gibraltar is British? It seemed odd, like they were trying to make a point but didn't quite.

I think it was, I think all the names were slight jibes at the Spanish. I can see the whole Mexico thing kicking off again if they don't reign it in slightly.

Oh god yeah, did you see James and Clarkson standing next to each other in those shirts :yuck:

I agree, that Airport would be a great movie set for some horror film, and to think studios spend millions building similar sets. I watched half of the docu, it was probably what Rush will be without the hollywood touches
