Koenigsegg CCX is top of TG leaderboard! 1:17.6, 1 sec faster than the Zonda F.

That S Class

CCX was much better, I think Koenigsegg need to offer the Top Gear wing for free. Also Clarksons S-Class was good, but it had too many flaws.

Which made it funny.

The CCX isn't on sale yet, the first one TopGear tested was a potential final development car, but now TopGear have shown that it's faster with the wing than a Zonda F, Enzo and MC12 round a track, it wouldn't suprise me to see all CCX's go on sale with the wing, or with it offered as an option. I was glad they opted for a subtle wing, the last thing cars like that need looks wise is a huge big thing sticking up at the back.

I think its time that they should drop the star in a Reasonably Priced Car. Maybe the reason Top Gear has less eps on now, is because of the Reasonably Priced Car feature.

Think of it, the BBC must have to pay the stars in the Reasonably Priced Car to go on Top Gear.

I'm pretty sure that the BBC can afford it otherwise they wouldn't have that feature, and anyway Top Gear is one of their more popular programs.

As for your idea about Koenigsegg offering the TopGear Wing for free, you sir, have no mind for business. Regular car companies offer optionals for extra money and those are for luxury items, be it cruise control or some sat nav system. The Top Gear wing is more out of neccessity (sp?) to keep that rear end in check so that will be taken into account in the final price, or if it will be an option cost a pretty penny to include.
The CCX wing is quite tastfully done, and although I'm sad the Zonda is no longer on top, good to see that a car like the CCX takes over.

I quite enjoyed this episode, Jeremy's S-Class was hilarious, the numberplates were funny, and I'm quite enjoying Richard Hammond's weekly race that he keeps losing.

I prefer the CCX to the Zonda F inalmost every way, looks, sound, brute force. I do like the Zonda F a lot as well, I'm just very impessed with the CCX.

I'd almost agree. While I'm staying true to the Zonda because I simply love it that much, I have no problem in saying that the CCX is a brilliant and worthy supercar. Nice looks and engine note, I just prefer the radical styling of the Zonda, which has one of the best engine notes I've heard.

The BBC doesn't pay the stars for coming on the show, they just phone them up, ask if they'd like to come on, and then if they say yes, a contract is signed should they kill themselves or whatever so the BBC isn't liable, thats it. No money will be paid to the stars for this.
I wasn't sure if this happened. But TBH I don't think any guest has come off badly after being on the show, they've all made good appearences and occasionly got to 'plug' whatever the need to. It wouldn't seem right for the BBC to pay outlandish fees for such a thing.

I think the shorter seasons can be put down to 2 things. 1, BBC has so many other things they'd liek to chuck in their schedule for a Sunday night and 2, the presenters are all doing more and more stuff outside TopGear.

Flame-returns
According to the bbc website they will not show yesterday's episode today. I never saw it, this is horrific.
Nope, they're showing it at 7pm on Tuesday instead this week.

I reckon now that the new Audi R8 production car:

May be the car used in the next big Top Gear race, but it is a shame they will most likely not be using the Aston Martin Rapide in any future races at this moment in time guys.

Seriously, what are you talking about?
This is pure guesswork as there is no way you'd know anything about their next race.

I said I reckon, that means what it may be. If I said it was in the next race, then I would say It is in the next race.

And one more thing I need to repeat, I think it may be.

I'm going to randomly change the topic to THE STIG. I was wondering today... who is realistically behind the helmet?

Just my two cents, but the absolute coolest person that could ever realistically be "The Stig" would be Sabine.

Imagine how unbelievably 'rad' it would be that at the end of the last ever Top Gear episode, The Stig takes off "his" helmet and it's a GIRL!!

Awesome idea! Not exactly likely, but very cool... Very "Metroid". :D

Just in case it hasn't been talked about a million times before, but who do you guys realistically think The Stig is? There are many intelligent guesses to be made, and I think the options could be whittled down with some careful lining up of schedules for many contenders. :)

I think The Stig kinda shows a rally driving style to their attack, so maybe a rally driver or someone with rally experience? Sorry if we've done this to death, but as time goes on, I believe better guesses can be made. More and more circumstantial evidence (to take potential drivers out of contention) pops up as time goes on.

In which case I reckon you're wrong. :sly: :dopey:

Give it time and they will replace the Stig with a mk3 Stig, and if they do a Mk3 Stig. Then a book will come out saying who is Stig Mk2.

The Stigs line around the TopGear track was similar to Nigel Mansells lines when he drove it, I'm not saying Nigel is the Stig, just a point that Nigel isn't a rally driver nor has he ever been, and both him and the Stig took similar lines round the track both resulting in a very similar time.

Shame we cannot messure The Stig Mk2's height.

That wouldn't really help considering there are probably many professional racing drivers that are around the same height. Chances are he's a racing driver from a series that isn't hugely known or full time, so he can get the time to drive for Top Gear.

This week episode was ok, the CCX was blistering, but it still looks a little twitchy under heavy breaking, but i would still have one given.

But isn't there simply an ideal line with any particular car/track combination that results in the best times? Most really good drivers might end up (after a little experimentation) with a very similar approach to get the best out of a certain car on that track?

Of course I can't say The Stig is a rally-style driver, but I reckon he likes getting the rear end out a little more than an F1 driver might. Just a wild guess. I also have no evidence that given various normal road cars to play with, F1 drivers WOULDN'T like getting a little frisky in the rear end! ;)

The Stig often gets a little whisker too much wheelspin off the line (not super clinical like F1 and more rally style)... meh, everyone has noticed different things that all point to different directions!
