I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read that. And the little disclaimer at the bottom just seals it performance figures relate to EX/GXi models. Who cares if it's lighter than the Ford Ka, the top model Kelisa still fails to go any faster than the entry model Ka and I doubt it beats the Ka's notably good handling.

 Yeah. A radio is sophisticated?

...But it has BlueTooth. BMWs have that! It automatically makes any sub-par car incredibly awesome! Just ask Nissan about their shoddy '07 Sentra...

 I'm listening to an internet radio station (hits of the 70s on sky.fm), and as I'm typing this, it's playing the TopGear theme song! Its called "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band (but you Brits probably already knew that).

It's on Guitar Hero II as well, I hate playing it though.

...I'd say its tied with 'Thunderhorse' for my favorite song to play in GHII...

Oh, and its probably one of the best anthems to any TV show anywhere in the world, as it is so easily recognizable, and rather catchy as well...

I wrote in asking for more stuff that has to do with the US... They always make fun of us and the cars we drive, and yet, they don't come to the US and drive the actual cars that most of us live with on a day-to-day basis. It would be interesting to see what kind of crazy-talk they could come-up with, and I'm sure they could come-up with some crazy race across part of the country in doing so.

An afterthought: The Top Gear Trio takes to the historic US Route 66 and follows the winding road from Chicago to Los Angeles. Here is the twist: Each of them are assigned the 'average' American car, and they must therefore decide which is best not only on the road, but around the track, and thereby best-represents America in its own distinct way.

The cars?

- Chrysler 300C
- Ford Taurus 3.5
- Chevrolet Impala SS

Sweet. I just know Clarkson will love that Impala...

Nope, that's true.

If they were to drive across America, it would either be in American Sports cars (I.E. Viper, Mustang etc which has been done to death by TG) or in old cars they can make fun of (which they have).

Top Gear is an entertainment show first, and an information show second.

Exactly, they rarely ever drive the everyday or base mdoels. It's nearly always the top-of-the-range or a high spec version.

Same can be said of Evo and TopGear magazine, but those who complain should be reading autotrader instead.

They don't test every day cars that often in general as has been said, but they do test them sometimes, like the Aygo and the Pug 307, the new Honda Civic and the Fiat Panda have all been tested on TopGear among other regular cars. The 300C btw has already been tested on TopGear, and it got slated, badly. A bit more on American cars would be interesteing, but it'd have to be occasional stuff, and not instead of their usual car tests. TopGear is aimed at the UK audience, so testing cars not available here that some people probably have never even heared of could be pretty pointless. But as a fun bit on the side of the proper stuff it would be interesting.

I understand what you mean, but if we are to be receiving the show starting this year in the US, they may have to test a few more American cars (God forbid).

...Either way, just a fun idea. They could use that Dodge Avenger that they were so in love with before they realized how bad it actually was (check Top Gear Dot Com), and stick that against the 'American Vectra' Saturn Aura, and the Ford Fusion (our Fusion)... That would be a good way to cover what most people drive...

And since you've got three out of three there (well, one by name only), it somewhat applies to the UK (lol)...

Well, for those of you that have not seen the video, I found the Top Gear road trip to the USA. Ok, well, it's the deep south, but that counts, right? This was the best Top Gear I've seen in a long time. The worst part is that I can't seem to find it here in Canada. I can only watch it on YouTube.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not sure how to work those YouTube tags.

Yes, I saw it. Quite frankly, it is where the idea came from. If we are all to point out a given nations weakness, yes we would go through the deep-south of the US. However, a trip down Route 66 would be good to see Chicago to LA, and some of the most diverse people, landscapes, and expiriences throughout this great land of ours.

...The only other trip worth taking, similar to that, would be to follow Route 1 from Fort Kent, Maine down to Key West, Florida...

A little OT question:

Does anyone know where I can get a text file with the script of the episodes? I mean, with everything it was talked during the show, like a closed caption's file?

Early on, while I was at work I saw on the front cover of a HDTV magazine, that Top Gear is going to be recorded in HD soon, which means the next series could also be offered in HD.

Anyway when I pick up the magazine in the morning, I will scan the article.

It seems there is not an article on Top Gear being recorded in HD, but instead just a quote on the front on Home Cinema Choice.

Just a heads up guys, next week Top Gear finally broadcasts its first episode in High Definition, however it is only a special, until it fully returns later this year.

Anyway to see it in HD you will need to tune into BBC HD with the right setup. However don't worry guys it will still be in Single Definition on BBC 2.

Time: 20:00
Special Epsoide: Top Gear: Polar

Small bit of detail on the Top Gear: Polar Special

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are racing to the North Pole, Jeremy and James are in a specially adapted pick-up truck, while Richard is on a sled pulled by a team of huskies.

Still no word on how we're getting it in the US. There was talk that it was coming back to either Discovery/TLC or BBC America, but I haven't heard anything since that initial semi-announcement.

Either way, its what the internet tubes are for...

Do you know when we non-HD'ers will be getting it? Or will it be at the same time? It better be at the same time.

It will be on the same time Speedster, like I pointed out in my last post. Anyway YSSMAN talking about, if you want to know when the US will be getting it, well I think you may have to wait a while. But if the other thing happens, then well the US may never see Top Gear in the US ever again by the legal ways.

But just to let you know BBC has demanded YouTube to pull off every piece of Top Gear goodness off there website, because remember it is still against copyright to have it on websites like YouTube.

Anyway let’s get back to the talking point about HD Top Gear, well you will most likely, never see it on any of the illegal sites in HD form, because BBC HD uses HDCP to broadcast its stuff in HD.

TopGear Angers Coastguard
The presenter's of BBC's TopGear television program were yeterday criticised by coastguards after ignoring safety rules as they tried to sail the Channel in three cars.
Two of the adapted vehicles sank within minutes of leaving dover forcing presenters James May and Richard Hammond to hitch a lift on Jeremy Clarkson's Nissan 4x4 which had an outboard motor.
A senior coastguard offiicer said: "The guys from TopGear didn't tell us they were going and didn't keep us updated on their course so we could track them on out radar. I think it's totally irrepsonsible."
