I'm just over the conversation honestly, it's literally been 9 years.
But 9 years later they are over 10% of the car roster

We only got 4 new VGTs in GT 7, the Porsche, the Lambo and a couple new Jaguars. The VGT program is clearly NOT the reason we still don't have the Corvette C8, Ferrari 488, 918 Spyder, Mclaren P1 or any other particular vehicle in the car roster. But 9 years later they are over 10% of the car roster

Actually the best way to make money in GT7 involves a 1v1 race using rally cars around a dirt track. And I still do. It's no surprise that when i hear about grinding hacks typically they involve a VGT car. The tomahawk for example.

^thisIt’s such a bizarre take to argue that a certain car shouldn’t be in a racing game. Like if it causes you such grief don’t drive it.
I don't think so. They're pretty much the exactly same cars as they were in GT Sport, maybe a couple of them needed 1 or 2 small tweaks, but that's it. If GT 7 didn't have VGT cars, we'd have 50 cars less in the game, not 50 different cars added in their place. They all had to be rebuilt/re modelled for GT7 and I'm sure there are now over 40 of them in a game with only 440 cars.
Dude do you have something against people who just want to grind the game and make money?Tell that to the wall banging scripters who have a tomahawk hooked up to wall bang it's way around a track for hours at a time.

And to think it all started with the Redbull X2010 at Topgear Test track. The most annoying thing about VGTs for me is how they ruin every cruise/free roam lobby
It's not much about that. Some cars are pretty fun to drive, but that's not the point. It’s such a bizarre take to argue that a certain car shouldn’t be in a racing game. Like if it causes you such grief don’t drive it.
If a game has been doing something for multiple iterations and you still believe that that concept isn't "part of the game", maybe your belief of "what the game is" is inaccurate.
Gran Turismo has always had fictional tracks, I don't see why people are so bent out of shape with fictional cars.

How ignorant to think you can speak for the entire community... Either way, these brand partnerships are good, image wise, for PD and the manufacturer so they're not going anywhere and seeing interesting concepts has always been cool in the older games. No one, I repeat, no one wants VGT cars over Real Life cars. No one.
Concept cars is one thing. Most of those concept cars that we've seen in the past Gran Turismo games like the Cadilac Cien or the VW W12 Nardo are cars that actually exist but never went into into production (only 1 exists but at least they do exist and can run on the road, and have the engine specs like in the game). Of all these VGTs, only 2 or 3 exist, and of those 2 or 3, none of them have the engine specs (or even an engine at all) like they have in the game. How ignorant to think you can speak for the entire community... So, you're telling me you wouldn't want something like a Yellow Mitsubishi XR-PHEV EVOULTION?No one, I repeat, no one wants VGT cars over Real Life cars. No one. There can be people who like VGT cars but if there is such a person who prefers that the focus be on VGTs, than they are not playing the right game.
Would much prefer a 918 Spyder, which is an amazing car (much better than that Mitsubishi, especially in terms of looks) and... It actually exists. So, you're telling me you wouldn't want something like a Yellow Mitsubishi XR-PHEV EVOULTION?
You cant speak for everyone though, as I really like most of the VGT cars introduced (the only one I genuinely think is boring is the Porsche VGT.. because they played it faaar too safe visually, this opinion might change once im able to buy it after I get my favourites) because im fed up of seeing the same cars over and over again in many games nowadays, so I LOVE it that GT is able to have these unique machinery that allows it to stand out and be unique, and that its PROUD to be unique. This is why I prefer them over real cars.No one, I repeat, no one wants VGT cars over Real Life cars. No one. Okay but this is 2022 and not 2004. Companies VERY VERY rarely make full blown concept vehicles in the old sense of even having a physical model. Most are simply rendered on the computer and shown off in a press release, especially with the lack of large auto shows these days.Concept cars is one thing. The main problem with VGT cars is that players don't have the option to change the stoopid rules in GTS/GT7 so that every player can use [almost] any car in [almost] any competition. IF desired by the individual player/customer, and this was what made GT3/GT4 so much more fun than GT6/GTS/GT7.I don't really agree, the "LM" fantasy cars in the early games were a workaround past the fact that they didn't have a lot of real-life licensed racecars. They were more or less balanced against each other in terms of power and weight and suspension setups could do the rest.
Most of the VGT cars are completely useless; they're either in group X with no races for them to even run or they're horribly slow in their assigned class. (Perhaps outside of group 1 at SSRX, an utterly pointless race itself.) Or, as we saw in the first week, they have a hybrid power pack and are eligible for a race where that completely breaks the meta. Just silly stuff.
And yeah, if we get a Chevrolet VGT instead of a Corvette C8 Z06 I won't be all that happy.
The cause of that problem is lack of player options and event choices! It takes a few minutes to code but PD won't do it.My problem with the VGTs, like most people already stated here, is when they are mixed with real cars like the Group C cars or the LMPs or even in the roadcar races. They simply don't fit there.
I guess it is because of IP which shouldn't exist in the digital world. We only got 4 new VGTs in GT 7, the Porsche, the Lambo and a couple new Jaguars.
