We only got 4 new VGTs in GT 7, the Porsche, the Lambo and a couple new Jaguars. The VGT program is clearly NOT the reason we still don't have the Corvette C8, Ferrari 488, 918 Spyder, Mclaren P1 or any other particular vehicle in the car roster.

It's not that they are new it's the total number.

They all had to be rebuilt/re modelled for GT7 and I'm sure there are now over 40 of them in a game with only 440 cars.

And I still do. It's no surprise that when i hear about grinding hacks typically they involve a VGT car. The tomahawk for example.
Actually the best way to make money in GT7 involves a 1v1 race using rally cars around a dirt track.

I don't think so. They're pretty much the exactly same cars as they were in GT Sport, maybe a couple of them needed 1 or 2 small tweaks, but that's it. If GT 7 didn't have VGT cars, we'd have 50 cars less in the game, not 50 different cars added in their place.

It’s such a bizarre take to argue that a certain car shouldn’t be in a racing game. Like if it causes you such grief don’t drive it.
It's not much about that. Some cars are pretty fun to drive, but that's not the point.

The point is, the resources that PD has already wasted on those VGT cars, could've been used for Real Life cars, which is what everyone wants.

No one, I repeat, no one wants VGT cars over Real Life cars. No one. There can be people who like VGT cars but if there is such a person who prefers that the focus be on VGTs, than they are not playing the right game.

The plehora of real life cars they could've easily already put into the game. Even Japanese cars such as:

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from I to IX
Mitsubishi FTO
Toyota MR-2
Lexus LFA (it's really shocking this car isn't in the game already when it was a premium in GT5/GT6 and is an iconic japanese car)
Suzuki Escudo
Japanese Kei cars

If a game has been doing something for multiple iterations and you still believe that that concept isn't "part of the game", maybe your belief of "what the game is" is inaccurate.

Gran Turismo has always had fictional tracks, I don't see why people are so bent out of shape with fictional cars.

The inclusion of fictional tracks are great for the most part. However the Fictional cars, in regards to VGTs specifically need a bit of work in how they're implemented, the lack of interiors for one is rather hilarious, they're still pulling that crap from what GT5 PS3 era?
You don't see? It's just a shame how hastily they've been implemented in game.

Maybe.

But given the number of likes I see in this thread i am not alone in this belief.

Maybe they should stay and be stripped out of all normal car classes and be given to the work experience kids instead of removed entirely.

But something needs to change in my view before they over centralise the game with their resource sink and over powered performance.

Tell that to the wall banging scripters who have a tomahawk hooked up to wall bang it's way around a track for hours at a time.
Its great that they do.

VGT sucks casue it has no event to utilise them, but same can be said for LM1 cars in GT7 so whatrever. The gema is borken unfinshed MTX mes of a trash bin of bad ideas.

I disagree. I do think you should be able to exclude them from lobbies if you choose. I think also, that the "fake" gr3 and gr4 cars...which are simply modeled after gt3 and gt4...are fine. I think every car in the game should have a gr3, gr4 or TCR type class where appropriate. I think the FWD gr4 cars should be moved to a new TCR type class. After all, none of the cars in this game are real are they.

How ignorant to think you can speak for the entire community... Either way, these brand partnerships are good, image wise, for PD and the manufacturer so they're not going anywhere and seeing interesting concepts has always been cool in the older games.
Concept cars is one thing. Most of those concept cars that we've seen in the past Gran Turismo games like the Cadilac Cien or the VW W12 Nardo are cars that actually exist but never went into into production (only 1 exists but at least they do exist and can run on the road, and have the engine specs like in the game). Of all these VGTs, only 2 or 3 exist, and of those 2 or 3, none of them have the engine specs (or even an engine at all) like they have in the game.

In most other games, these cars weren't 10% of the entire car roster either...

You actually mean to tell me that you prefer to see VGT cars in this game over Real Life ones?
Do you actually prefer that PD wastes their resources on VGTs, cars that are pure dreams and some of which go against the actual laws of physics, in detriment of adding more real life cars into the game?
Don't kid yourself...

Just make a poll with these options:

-"You want more VGT cars in GT7 instead of more Real Life cars?"
-"You want more Real Life cars in GT7 instead of VGT cars?"

And see the results for yourself. The first option wouldn't even get 5% of the votes (and I'm being generous).

And so what if these partnerships are good for PD? What about us players who are the core of their success?

VGTs are fine in their own championship races... Just don't mix them in with real life cars. And don't waste more resources on them than you should with real life cars.

So, you're telling me you wouldn't want something like a Yellow Mitsubishi XR-PHEV EVOULTION? :sly:

You cant speak for everyone though, as I really like most of the VGT cars introduced (the only one I genuinely think is boring is the Porsche VGT.. because they played it faaar too safe visually, this opinion might change once im able to buy it after I get my favourites) because im fed up of seeing the same cars over and over again in many games nowadays, so I LOVE it that GT is able to have these unique machinery that allows it to stand out and be unique, and that its PROUD to be unique. This is why I prefer them over real cars.

Sure I wish they didnt all cost 1M credits (aside from the Gr3 versions of some VGTs but still) but priced them more properly acording to their performance, this is my only issue with VGT cars.

Okay but this is 2022 and not 2004. Companies VERY VERY rarely make full blown concept vehicles in the old sense of even having a physical model. Most are simply rendered on the computer and shown off in a press release, especially with the lack of large auto shows these days.

That's what the VGT cars basically are. Very few manufactures will spend the resources to build a full size, running or not, concept car and put it on display these days, they'd much rather have a drivable version in a popular video game to show off their concept for a long time.

I don't really agree, the "LM" fantasy cars in the early games were a workaround past the fact that they didn't have a lot of real-life licensed racecars. They were more or less balanced against each other in terms of power and weight and suspension setups could do the rest.

Most of the VGT cars are completely useless; they're either in group X with no races for them to even run or they're horribly slow in their assigned class. (Perhaps outside of group 1 at SSRX, an utterly pointless race itself.) Or, as we saw in the first week, they have a hybrid power pack and are eligible for a race where that completely breaks the meta. Just silly stuff.

And yeah, if we get a Chevrolet VGT instead of a Corvette C8 Z06 I won't be all that happy. :irked:
The main problem with VGT cars is that players don't have the option to change the stoopid rules in GTS/GT7 so that every player can use [almost] any car in [almost] any competition. IF desired by the individual player/customer, and this was what made GT3/GT4 so much more fun than GT6/GTS/GT7.

My problem with the VGTs, like most people already stated here, is when they are mixed with real cars like the Group C cars or the LMPs or even in the roadcar races. They simply don't fit there.
The cause of that problem is lack of player options and event choices! It takes a few minutes to code but PD won't do it.

I guess it is because of IP which shouldn't exist in the digital world.
