Pass.

I absolutely have a sweet tooth, but standard candy bars tend to be cloyingly sweet to me due to the use of milk chocolate and entirely too much sugar. I've tried dark chocolate variants of a couple, but they seem to play it safe with the percentage so as to appeal to the largest audience, and the closer I can get to 72% cacao, the better.

Payday is different because the salty and savory qualities of the peanuts balances out the sweetness of the caramel.

Don't know how unpopular the opinion is, but I hate dark chocolate. Milk all the way.
I'm not sure I can support this, but I suspect that more people prefer milk because it has more sugar. Age may also play a role, and, anecdotal as it may be, I've never known of a kid who didn't think dark chocolate was nasty; but tastes do change over time.

Or white.
Ew.

I'm genuinely curious to know what you think of Ghirardelli chocolate. (anything from Ghirardelli)

This is true. I used to hate York Peppermint Patties as a kid, but as an adult, I have gotten to where I really like them now.

No complaints about their bars. If and when I want something particularly dark, say above 70%, I'll go to something like Valrhona or Guittard, but it's readily available and really nice at 65%. They're not as nuanced as I'd like when they get darker, and seem to do better when more sugar is used, but they're nice for the price and availability.

I'm 32 if you're wondering, so I'm no kid. I've just never developed the taste for dark. My mom loves it though.

With that said, I don't mind semi-sweet, such as chocolate chips. Of course, chocolate chip cookies are amazing. And melting chocolate chips and spreading them on rice crispy treats are tasty too.

That's not what I was getting at at all. I was using it more to inform the belief that more people prefer milk chocolate. Now if you were to poll 100 32-year-olds, I'd be hard-pressed to predict their preference.

Oh, I know. Regardless, my point stands. No dark chocolate for me!

I love it. I eat one of those 86% dark chocolate squares each night after dinner. Dark chocolate is supposed to be a good anti-oxidant and good for your blood pressure.

At least that's what I tell myself :)

Used to hate it, now it's okay. Couldn't eat a huge amount of it though.

That said, dark chocolate Bounty (the red one) is an absolute winner.

Evolution at work there. While there are a number of factors at play, the main one is growth. Natural sweet foods include breast milk and fruits. High in the energy that a youngling needs. As you get older dietary needs change, thus what you find appealing changes. That spills over into modern processed foods.
That said, I've enjoyed dark chocolate since a young age, around 10. We were trailer park poor when I was that age, so we didn't have an abundance of candy floating around. Or pop, which we only had when we went to our grandparents or the rare occasion we went out to eat.
Anyway, one thing my mom always kept around was a big bar and can of powdered bakers chocolate. Its what we used for hot cocoa, chocolate milk, various confectioneries (sp), etc. So when I did get the chance to get a candy bar, my default has always been dark chocolate as milk chocolate was too sweet and I think a bit more gritty.
That said, Take5 has been my preferred candy bar of choice since its release. Very much for the same reason as your payday. The saltiness of the pretzel and peanut butter with the caramel and chocolate is really good. They did some limited edition runs of white and dark chocolate as well. I have never liked white "chocolate" but man, the dark chocolate ones.... sooo good. Also love dark chocolate covered coffee beans. Sadly I have a self control issue with those though so I don't get them very often, else I spend all day and half the night a jittery mess.

Also your dental condition changes. I had to get a crown put in about 3 years ago and things as sticky and chewy as that 100 Grand bar had to go away. Milky Way is about as chewy as I dare to go.

Coconut's something else I can't do. Curries are usually okay because there's a lot of other, more assertive flavors at play, and I can occasionally do toasted, but it's got an unpleasant sickly sweet flavor that makes me gag.

Grittiness has less to do with the variety of chocolate and more with the quality (or lack thereof, as it were).

Also...

Dark chocolate Bounty is a winner, as is dark chocolate Bueno. Dark chocolate digestives are the real prize but I have trouble keeping them in good condition in this temperature; in the fridge they all stick together and outside they just melt.

Dark chocolate is also supposed to be increasing in popularity due to being (slightly) healthier than plain or milk chocolate.

I'm with dark chocolate, almost religiously and pretty much agree with what @TexRex has said. However, there is a few other chocolates I like - Reeses Cups, Mr Goodbar, and Payday are the only ones I would pick up on my own. Noticing now that all those have some sort of peanut in them, so I guess it's just that.

Yeh, I'm thinking it's probably just the peanut thing (but then peanuts are awesome), especially since one of those bars doesn't actually have chocolate.

Not sure why anyone would buy a 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, or Mars bar over a Snickers. You're buying a candy bar with missing ingredients.
Similarly, vodka is just unfinished gin.

It's Saturday, I've been at work on O.T since 5:30Am and I'm starving, cut me some slack!

Der Riese in COD Zombies is overrated.
This was a map first introduced in World at War, later added to Black Ops 1 and they did a remake of it in Black Ops 3. It’s a map the community holds in high regard and is often considered as one of the best, but I never truly agreed with this.
1. For starters, although it doesn’t look “bad”, I just don’t find it to be all that pleasing to the eye. I look at Nacht Der Untoten, Verruckt, and Shi No Numa and visually, they all wow me in some way or another, but I just don’t get that reaction from Der Riese. The map, while not “bad” and certainly not the worst, I just don’t find it to be all that visually appealing. The Moon is about that the only thing that really stands out to me, the rest is meh.
2. Simply put, I just don’t like the way the map is laid out and how you move around it, I honestly like how the previous maps did it better than this one.
3. Although it has Pack a Punch, which was a great feature that later became a staple in the COD zombies series, I never liked how you had to link the 3 teleporters just to be able to use it. I just thought it was a nuisance having to buy those doors to get to the teleporters and then link them just to get access to the machine. Although the series went on to make far worse ways of getting to it, I still do not like how it was on this map.
4. Something that always bugged me about this map is you can’t get to the revive machine until you reach the area where the power is. Although it’s utilized better than how Shi No Numa did it, it’s still an annoying inconvenience.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Der Riese, but as far as the World at War maps go, I never cared for it as much as other people did. I actually had more fun with Verruckt and Shi No Numa than I ever did with Der Riese despite them not having Pack a Punch and I always preferred them over it. I still share that feeling in Black Ops as well and I also found Kino Der Toten to be a better map even if it didn’t innovate as much as Der Riese did. I could say more, but I haven’t played the map in quite a while.

Donald Rumsfeld's "There are known knowns" speech extract makes perfect sense. I don't understand how people didn't understand it.

What he said was valid and very useful, introspectively, for humanity as a whole.
