Update 1.03 (Released - January 14th)

Are people STILL rambling on about this???!!! What's to talk about? You all just keep going over the same stuff over and over again, each of you putting your amazing powers of prediction to use! Give it a rest, play the game, speak to your wives or girlfirends, play with your kids, go to the pub and just forget about an update that was never announced! Jeez! :banghead:

Captain Buzzkill is back!!!

Ahhh, it took me a while, but then I realized he put his city as Detroit. Eh who cares, I'm probably not going to be able to afford one of those cars for a while anyhow.

It's the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at the newly remodeled Cobo Hall in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It's the most important car show in the world.

...and can we take anything PD says as Gospel? Their track record for deadlines, and telling the truth for that matter, is horrendous.
Umm what? I'm pretty sure the average european car fan couldnt guve a crap about that one and i'm also pretty sure the Geneva or Tokyo motor show is more important than that one

I hope they eventually bring back having your car pictured some where on your tune page so you can look at it when messing with setting. Oh and this may be corny but I miss the car wash and oil change animations. I also would like to have a car pop up full screen to preview before selecting that particular car for a race. Seems like they've taken away a bit of the things that made this game a bit more enjoyable. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

You're joking right?

Haha yes I'm joking. I just forgot the smiley. I think it's natural to think your home town/country has the biggest/most important everything. As far as auto shows go I don't have a clue which is most important. My OP has been corrected. :P

Well, I wouldn't say "couldn't give a crap". There is bias towards American manufacturers, sure, but it's still pretty important motor show for manufacturers around the world. The BMW M4 will be making its motor show debut, Lexus will be unveiling its RC F and Volvo its Concept XC Coupé. I would have to agree though that Geneva Motor Show, along with the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows, could arguably be considered one of the most important in the industry.

The Tokyo Motor Show, although fairly important in its own right and was at one time considered as one of the premiere motor shows in the world, has seen its popularity decline in recent years due to the recession, the strengthening yen and the fact that the Japanese simply don't buy enough foreign-brand cars. The American Big Three have sat out of the show since 2009, and important international debuts, both conceptual and production, have been few and far between. Last year's show did see a minor resurgence, however.

I think it's natural to think your home town/country has the biggest/most important everything.

He's from the UK, which hasn't had an international motor show since, what, 2008?

I'm at 102%, no girlfriend, no kids, no friends to drink with. All I have left to do is sign on to GTP and pretend like I have any idea what's going on.

Same here.. lol.. but we could do the new GT5 seasonals  I'm almost at that point putting the GT6 disc out of my PS3 for GT5..

Not trying to be a debbie downer but I have been realizing that 1.03 was never mentioned. Only the redbull event was our hint. The reaction and hype from that delay of the events led to this speculation that blew up into it being a full on update 1.03. PD haven't said a word, they've been more tightlipped than ever on this...

They're probably messing with us, while we are waiting for 1.03 they are probably working on 1.04 by now. :D
THANK YOU!!! And to think it all started out as speculation from some euro gamer site, which has now transcended down to this..

What someone should do, is actually look up where it was mentioned, and find no avail to it.

I just looked at my ingame messages and found nothing. And a quick search proved useless too

Goodwood isn't really a motor show so much as a car meet with a hill climb event running through it.

Yeah, there's more and more commercial nonsense creeping in, though. Still, it's a great time to enjoy it before it sells out completely! :D
Loved being close enough to be able to touch legendary cars (and drivers; nearly literally bumped into Jacky Ickx one year, for example), but refraining anyway. Great mix and great atmosphere.

Detroit is called the Motor City for a reason. We practically invented automobile manufacturing. Henry Ford invented the assembly line here. The biggest car company in the world is a few hundred feet away from the NAIAS. Most major car companies have their North American HQ in the Detroit area. Most car fans recognize Detroit as the car Mecca of the world. If it weren't for Detroit, the world would be a completely different place...and not for the better. Shall I go on?

The 2015 Z06 Corvette will be unveiled at this upcoming Detroit show. I won't be surprised if makes it into GT6 soon myself.

The redbull updates, nothing to do with 1.03.

Sorry but it is to do with update. Read the actual in game message:

"The in-game message displayed when someone attempts to enter the 2nd part of the "Red Bull X Challenge" is incorrect. The next event will be available at the end of January and not on the 1st as currently suggested.

The message will be amended with the next game update. We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

To me this means that the update itself will come before the 2nd part of the Red Bull X Challenge is released at the end of January. More proof of this is the fact that the 1.02 update came out around the 17-18th of December (tuesday-wednesday depending on where in the world you are), so we can safely assume the 1.03 update will come out on either the 14-15th of January or at the very latest, on the 21st-22nd of January. Not long to go now!

Exactly.

The redbull updates will come at the end of January as we know.

1.03, clearly coming before, as why would you amend a message once it becomes redundant?

Detroit is called the Motor City for a reason.

The first big auto manufacturers were French: Panhard & Levassor (1889) and Peugeot (1891).

Although, that's not to say Ford didn't make a huge impact on it later.
