I hope I can get the same game play and graphics that you have. You posted some fantastic pics in a few of your threads. I wont be happy unless I can run the highest settings on ever PC game. Cant wait until saturday!!! First game I will be installing will be FEAR then after that probably Half life 2 and Lost coast.
He is going to install an extra fan just to help cool it down.

Full detail at what resolution? Just don't be dissapointed if you find out that Full detail at 1600x1200 only gets you an average of 30-45 FPS. FEAR is a brutally demanding game! I only say this as my current setup can't average better than the holy grail of 60+ FPS with ATI's X1900XT which completes head to head with dual 7800's. Congrats on the system though, I'm sure it will be awesome! Be sure to hit the 3DMark2006 Thread when you get all setup.

I will be playing set at 1280x1040. I sure hope I have at least 60FPS. I know FEAR is brutally demanding thats why I tried to get the best within reason. I will hit that thread probably saturday night or sunday depending on how well the system works.

Thats weird, you got your hands on a 7800. How much did you pay? The new 7900 will come out for $299. Have fun playing!
The price for the 7800 was right around $305.00.

All of the goodies are arriving today according to UPS. Now when my tech friend comes up this saturday it should be all put together for me. Im so excited. :embarrassed: The case looks sick and has a built in electric temperature gauge too.

If you have a digital camera, maybe take pictures of the assembly process. :)

So how excited are you right now? Do you feel like a kid again? So you get your parts today and your going to wait until Saturday for your tech body? bleah! Just go for it, we can walk you through the whole process step by step. :) (No warranty implied, however)

Have fun,

I am very very excited. He is going to build it at his girlfriends house so I wont see the actual build. This is the first computer I have ever had built so I hope its a pleasant experience. This is also only the 2nd PC I have ever bought. The other PC (which is still pretty good) is going to my girlfriend so we can play online together.
The parts arrive at his girlfriends house today and when he gets there saturday he will build it and bring it over. He said he would build this for me in return I do the brakes on their 2 cars. Even trade since im a car guy and hes a tech guy. I cant wait for saturday to play FEAR in the highest settings. :dopey: :dopey:
EDIT: I just asked his girlfriend to take pics of the entier build process. Hopefully she will. :)

Nice!👍 I'd say he's getting a pretty good deal as most computer builds are around $35. What are brake jobs these days? Anyways, it's nice to have friends to barter services with.

They are buying all the pads and I am just goign to install them. Very easy and I can do it quite fast. Oh I forgot to mention he is installing all the extra microsoft goodies for free. Those normally would cost me at least $150-$200 to get excel, word, office and all the other stuff. I told his GF to even take pics of the boxes. She laughed.
The only decision I have left are the speakers. Its a 7.1 sound card but not sure what I want to get yet. You are the perfect man to talk to about that. Any suggestions? I would be happy with at least 5.1

Ahhh.... Multi-Channel audio for your PC. There are some really good products out there. If you have the space and can utilize a 7.1 setup, I would definitely go that route as that sound card would do a really nice job for you. Multi-Channel gaming is really cool, and helpful to.

I'm a big Klipsch fan (as you might guess if you've seen my Theatre setup) and they offer a really nice multi-channel system. www.klipsch.com Logitech, believe it or not, has a nice THX 5.1 or 7.1 system that also sounds great!

For myself, 2.1 audio is sufficient for most gaming situations when I'm sitting at my computer, but when I want to game on the 60" on the Theatre setup, then I also will be utilizing the 7.1 theatre setup. In order to hookup my multi-channel sound card to the optical input on my Home Theatre receiver, I had to order the Creative DTS-610 which is a analog to digital converter. Once I hook this up, I will have 5.1 (reprocessed by the Denon to 7.1 using a DTS codec matrix) digital from the computer to the Klipsch Home Theatre room.

Currently for my 2.1 setup, I am using a cheap pair of Logitech X-230 that I got from Ebay for $35 with fee shipping. Pretty tough to beat that price, and they sound decent as well.

So, now that I have complete confused the issue, I hope I have been of some help anyways.

I already have a perfect 5.1 surround sound set up for my gaming room and for the living room. Both 2 differnt systems but sound perfect. So with that said I would want something for the PC. I dont have much room but I can easily make room if I have to. I can build brackets or whatever I need to put speakers in front and behind me on the walls. My computer desk is in the upper right corner of the room so I could only put the speakers in front and behind me. Which should still sound pretty good. None of what you said confused me. So with what I just said about wanting 5.1 what would you suggest now? :sly: If you want I can PM you a pic of my room. I have it posted on this site somewhere too with the 19" monitor pics.
So you recomend the Logitech 5.1?

Cool! Have you considered utilizing your current 5.1 setup in your gaming room for the computer or is the computer not in the correct spot for proper imaging?
No my game room is set up for the ideal gaming position. Back of the room with all the speakers at all 4 corners. Center in middle front. Friggin perfect set up. Now if I plugged it into the computer I would be sitting right in front of the front right speaker. Not ideal position at all. I would need another set of speakers for sure.
EDIT: Whoa I should mention I want to stay around $100.00

$100? Oh... Umm, yeah. I would think that a higher quality 2.1 setup would be better than a budget 5.1 setup IMO.

Something to also keep in mind, some receivers have dual zone capabilities. If yours has this feature, you might consider a couple of nice bookshelf speakers running off of your receiver off of the second zone. Even if your receiver is 80w per channel, that will be a 160w, 2ch setup that would dominate any 2 channel setup designed specifically for PC.

Well you know how it goes I say $100 then end up spending at least $200.00  I just love the effect of knowing exactly where my enemies are when I play games. With 5.1 I can tell EXACTLY where they are. Left front, left rear, left, right , behind, front. Anywhere. I know exactly where they are. :)👍 When I play PC I dont have a clue because currently I only have 2 crapy speakers.
I will check Best buy and see what they have available and buy the most reasonable set. If I dont like it I have 30 days to return. :sly:
Thanks for the help Pako.

Good luck, and above all, have fun.

I had a cool experience when I was running a PC for my recording studio. I loaded up a game just see how it would sound on my studio reference speakers and the Tannoy sub. All I can say is AMAZING! I have since put a Apple in it's place as the PC kept crashing while I was recording clients. But anyways, just wanted to share that.... :)

By the time I buy this PC surround sound system I will have sooo much stuff in my house I cant cant believe it. Its like heaven in there. :embarrassed:
4 tvs (1) HDTV
3 fully working computers
2 xbox
2 ps2
3 surround sound systems
150+ PS2 games
20+xbox games
10+ PC games
And much more....
No wonder everyone always wants to come to our house.

 Nice! I finally put away my PS2, Xbox, Gamecube. My sons grounded from VGames and I just don't play consoles anymore (until PS3 comes out). It's an addiction for sure!

I trust you have protective power for all of those electronics right?

Oh yeah. We have a couple surge protectors that seem to work real well. Yeah your right addiction is an understatement. My girlfriend do something with cars or games every single day. I guess its a better addiction than wasting money on crack or other drugs out there. We dont smoke and are drug free so I guess we have all this extra money! I like to drink beer and thats pretty much it for our vises. If money is every tight, I simply dont drink.

We're the exact same way.

I have a bro that clears $60k+ but because of his drinking, smoking, and gambling doesn't have squat to show for it except for a heavy cough, a beer belly, and a empty bank account. I keep telling him that I will make a box with flashing lights on it, it will play music and everything. He can come over when ever he wants and put his money into it. I will supply "free" beer as long as he's playing (paying) into the box. Sometimes this magical box might even give some money back, but only after I have sucked his account dry of all funds. Oddly enough he wasn't up for that. I guess because I wouldn't let him smoke in my house. ;)

Gambling would be a horrible addiction. I have never even bought a lottery ticket in my life because I didnt want to waste the $5.00. I grew up with nothing in life so when I do spend it, I want something to show for it. 👍
It was funny to see my 14 year old genesis come back around recently. Im so happy I bought that. Made my entire family happy over 14 years and it still works!!

 I seriously have to try my hardest to stay as close to $100 as possible. I know that will probably be closer to $200 but I absolutely cant go over $200. period. I would hate for my PC to outperform my other surround sound systems because then I would have to upgrade them. J/K I like my other ones just the way they are. :sly:
Damn this is what happened with my TV. I went in saying $200 for a regular 27" then before I knew it I took the crappy one back and ended up getting the HDTV and it was $600.00. I wont quit buying something until I am happy with it. So if im happy with a $60 system then thats what I will stick with. This will be fun.
