Update 4/3/06 My official comp stats post 95!!!(It was the crappy Celeron processor!)

Pako
Uncompressed video at 640x480 (not even close to HD resolution) is ruffly at 12.5gb's per hour. I might take a look to see what HD compression for those resolutions would be. Seems I've seen some 2-2.5 hour HD movies only being around 6gb's or so which isn't too bad.
Oh I wouldnt make long videos. Just small videos from games. If they are too big I can still use my Dazzle to take videos off of my camcorder. The dazzle makes videos that are great quality and very small in size.
My videos are usually only 1mb for every 25 seconds. Not bad at all for decent quality videos. I could make them larger but it they would be bigger.
I think my setting are best, better, good, medium. Something like that. I record using better.
I wonder if I will finally be able to make videos from computer games!!?

A progam called FRAPS might be able to help you with making videos from PC games. :)

I have heard several members mention FRAPS. I also heard them say that FRAPS slows the computer down. On top of that I am always afraid to DL anything from the internet to avoid spyware and viruses as much as possible. I might look into it or just record it with a camcorder to be safe.

Slows the computer down? Of course any additional resource being used to run additional programs will take a hit on system performance, but whether or not that effect is noticeable would be dependent on your system. My guess is that you would not notice a difference for most FRAPS application like their screens shot or frames per second mode, however capturing live video would definitely take a performance hit but you wouldn't be capturing video for the sake of game play. Any yes, you should be afraid, very afraid to download ANYTHING off of the net. LOL

Cant wait to leave today so I can see if this new video card works on mine!!! Arrrr driving me nuts!! I have been waiting over a month now! I will let everyone know tonight. I will also post FEAR stats and CS stats.

I totaly understand. I have my crossfire card on the way, it's supposed to be here on Tuesday. Will just have to wait and see.... UGH!

I feel your pain.

Oh yeah to top that off I brought that crappy surround sound system back and now I just have these 2 horrible speakers from work hooked to my PC. I will have to wait a little while to get the surround sound system I want. Probably after my April 14th race event.

Damn I ran the test for this video card and it is also only runngy at 81fps. That means something else is wrong. :banghead: :ouch:

Post up some information and maybe we can help you get things straightened out.

At this rate, with one or two more card exchanges, you'll be getting the FPS your buddy is getting.

Sorry, I had to.

Could it be some bad RAM maybe?

Update: 3/28/06
After a couple hours of tests he thinks it could be a bad motherboard. Its all trial and error at this point. All those video cards worked the same so those werent the problem since they worked real well on his PC.
I am still only getting 81fps in the counterstrike video stress test. It should be closer to 120fps.
In FEAR I had these results from the video test:
8fps min
55fps average
150fps max
Something like that.
I should have absolutely nothing below 55fps at all in FEAR.
This is all I know for now. He did the desktop streaming for a couple hours and took over my computer to run bios tests. He ordered another motherboard to try that out. I dont think I will know any more until this weekend.

I know this is frustrating, but think of all the money you saved building it yourself. :) Once you find the right combination of components you'll be rockin!

Good luck.

I cant take the credit for building this. I just pay this other guy to build it for me. He orders all the parts and puts it all together. I just play. I still only have $1,000 grand total into this set up. Well thats if you dont include $300 for the 19" monitor. I will be patient and hopefully by this weekend I will be playing with 100% of the computers abilites. 👍
Right now the computer is only working about 70-80%.

Burnout
What made him come to this conclusion?
I have no idea. All the technical bios that he was running is beyond my knowledge. He is taking my entire computer this weekend to figure out whats wrong with it and install the new motherboard.

Aye.

I fix computers for a living, so I was wondering if maybe I could help you out. 👍

I appreciate the offer but since I paid him to do it I will leave it in his hands. It WILL eventually work 100% one way or another even if I have to take his PC. :sly:

I know he's going to fix it, but I have to say, is he sure the computer isn't working properly, it's just the CPU holding it back?

If you lookup benchmarks of the Celeron D 351 in stuff like games, it does a lot worse than a comparible Sempron. I'm just worried that you guys really have a working system, it's just got the wrong processor for the job.

Out of curiosity, what type of processor does he have? You mentioned the cards doing very well in his system.

EDIT: Here is what I'm talking about:

I guess he is going to take my computer for the entire weekend to resolve the problem. He said he will swap parts from his to mine until he finds out what is wrong. So hopefully monday the computer will be working 100% instead of 70-80%.
I will let everyone know how it goes on Monday night.

In my opinion, i would have never went with a sempron or celeron CPU. Its never too late to change.......
Like I said above, whatever he does with it is up to him. I dont care if he compresses saw dust and makes the PC work. I just want it to work.

IT IS FIXED!!!! He called me on the phone and said it was the Celeron processor!! He ran Counterstrike and got over 120fps in the video stress test. When he ran FEAR on the default settings it was over 180FPS!!! Woooo wooo. I cant wait to get it back on monday and finally get to play it running 100%! THe processor that is in it now is a Pentium 4. :) 👍
THose of you that said processor get a pat on the back. That was definetly the problem. I will list full stress test results and pictures on monday.
