So you dupe and glitch and rob yourself, or you grind and grind and grind and grind and grind and...

Seems like the players lose either way.

they lose either way with this mentality..

why cant people play and race for the enjoyment of it? who cares what level you are, or how many credits you have, or what % you game completion is at... i dont get the whole obsession with it all.

to be honest ive had just as much fun with GT on the first bootup @ Apsec lvl1 than i have with my last one last night...

i guess that was when you could buy cars you like while still having a life

i dont see were all this hate is coming from, i just want to have and race the ****ing cars i like without sitting all day doing 100 indy races so i can afford 1 car i like

This and...

Unfortunately it doesn't fix the bigger fault that is the fact that there's not enough races or prize money to earn enough credits to buy the cars in the game. If that was sorted then no-one would need to go and look for a hole in the wall in the first place. That's the real issue here and it's the one that needs addressing.

This.

I buy Gran Turismo to play it, not complete it. The racing is, and always has been, rubbish on GT5 and it's even worse now there's so few races giving so little money.

It's a great simulator wrapped up in a truly terrible game. I'm glad I've had a few days of doing this glitch. I've bought most of the cars I want while, as Mikuchi said, still having a life. And a wife.

PD know that it'll let every player buy the cars they want too fast.

Yeah, we can't let people just buy the cars they want, then they might decide to continue playing because they have fun, and we can't have that now.

I came back to this game because there was a way to get the money quickly to do what I want....DRIVE; just grab a car, throw on some upgrades and push it around the Nurburgring as quickly as possible, lap after lap, purely for the thrill of driving the car. Instead I have to grind for an hour to get and Enzo, and another 10min to upgrade it. But now that that's gone and PD seem to have forgotten about the Bonus Races entirely, I'm done with this game until things change, and I can buy new cars without wasting what little game time I have doing an oval in a Corvette.

EDIT: Also, however unlikely, if they find a way to justify to themselves that the people who used this glitch deserve to be banned, I'm done with this series as a whole. But, unless that happens, I'm still looking forward to GT6 and hope they make the game about the fun of driving, instead of the work of getting cars to drive.

Somehow, this patching business of PD reminds me of the music industry. They keep on whining about people downloading music illegally, so they keep advertising that these guys are worse than Hitler and they try to make an example of a few by suing them for enormous sums of money. They're not trying to cure the disease at the source, instead they're patching the wounds by force.

What I'm trying to get at: people who play GT5 would see little reason for duping, grinding and using glitches like the SSR7 one if the game would be designed in a way that they don't feel the need to do that. I must stress that I don't mean a "free credits here!"-button. But if the game were designed so that playing through A-Spec is a fun experience, and that it gathers enough credits and XP to level up and buy cars without having to run a few races endlessly, the number of people using glitches would be minimal.

But instead of tackling the problem right there, PD just closes the holes they unintentionally left open. They don't try to attract people to play more and cheat less by making playing more attractive, they instead prevent them from short-cutting by limiting their possibilities to do so.

Sure it's a strategy which is going to work, but I'm not sure if it will truly satisfy people and shed a better light on PD.

they're starting to act like policemen, 1 crime here, then shoot it down. then one crime there, then shoot it down. we can't really expect a radical change from PD. Kaz rules, literally.

Is the SS7 glitch definitely patched??

YAY!!! If so!!!

sounds like someone needs to get a life instead of bothering oneself about that kind of BS.

Don't get me wrong, i couldn't even care less... i don't grind, i didn't used the glitch and i don't even play GT that regularly anymore.

It just the thing that a lot of people here are acting as if something restricts them from playing the game properly just because some kids glitch through walls & what not.

And that kind of pisses me off.

Get a life?
I think the only one needing to get a life is the one who has to comment about someone else's opinion - especially when he admits it doesn't even bother or affect him. I'm entitled to my opinion and I am not criticising yours. Maybe you should find a more critical post to quote.

So I say again - YAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furthermore, welcome to GTPlanet - I hope your stay is short.

I do the glitch a few times just to try and its sooo boring, i prefer race, the thing is this show the lack of "experience" in online for PD, even the others (and the most) arcade game developers design and deliberate tweek the tracks for online use since day 0 of development.

Now its more probable to find a decent room to race between all the junk and 12 year old hosts

Well, I'm almost 4 times 12 years old and this morning, after I checked, still no patch 1.08. So ...

I got myself another million, checked the UCD and spent it immediately on a '03 Raybrig JGTC NSX.

Oh and about good online racing ... I have it in my lounge, with my friends thank you.

PS - Almost forgot ... the fact that PD and PD's zealots lost all focus on what really is important is shown by just two things:

1 - SSR7, as a track, is a worthless piece of poo, born out of the demented mind of a Dragon Ball Z character. But using a GT-R in SSR7's outer space was actually fun ... gives you something to think about doesn't it?

2 - It's so sad that with the many fixes and tweaks GT5 desperately needs, PD's energy and resources is lost going after "glitchers" and releasing a patch to literally ... "fix a wall".

To end:

Long gone are the times of GT3 and memory card garage trades among friends ... luckily in those offline days PD couldn't release a buggy game, and couldn't also "police" whatever we decided to do with it and how we decided to play it.

Still no update in the UK when I tried a few minutes ago.

Bearing in mind the length of SSR7 what chance is there for another exit. Or did PD do a fix to all the wall on that track?

Seems they did..

I knew there was another exit on left side of the wall, at the road coming back to the bridge.. although this exit is not that useful coz u can't get out like the old one..

After they patched, I tried to find that exit again but it's gone..

I made a mistake in my previous post when I said that at the time of GT3 PD couldn't release a buggy game. I stand corrected. They could. Difference is ... what we bought was ours, they couldn't patch it on us.

Oh the memories of downtown Seattle :D

Lol, I can still do the Special Stage Route 7 exploit! Thanks to my CFW'd PS3. I see quite a few people have CFW'd PS3's, nice!

"They see me rollin' they hatin'...!"

I don't know what's the current status in others countries, but in my case (Portugal) this morning I was only prompted to install firmware 3.60. Still no patch 1.08 for me

I have looked through this thread and it seems there is still no update 1.08 in any PAL country. I can't look myself though since I am waiting on a new blu-ray drive for my PS3.
