Finally!!!

But still, 2 more cars that are also in brand central...
šŸ™ƒ
We knew from the beginning that the UCD would incorporate slightly worn alternatives to Brand Central offerings. Do we really need to act surprised about it every single day? I understand itā€™s underwhelming when waiting for a certain dealership exclusive to appear, but for now we can only wait until the expanded selection arrives with a future update.

Yeah but we didn't know then that we'd only get 1-3 cars every day at the most, sometimes none. When they said it updated every day, I think people expected 10-15 new cars a day.
The State of Play said it would update slightly every day. Itā€™s definitely slow and tedious, but I donā€™t think we were led to expect much.

Well, then everything would rotate through in 1 or 2 weeks. Cars in UHD are not massively expensive, so you can buy everything you want in 3 months or so. I am snapping up anything before 2001 so far.

Is that a bad thing? If there aren't that many, there aren't that many. They shouldn't be rationing them just to spread them out over months. It's not a strong enough dangling carrot to keep most people playing.

Because I can't buy one in the UCD I'm going buying a real one from autotrader tomorrow...

That's how serial I am about MR2 ownership.

Which one are you looking at, care to share a link? Not looking to poach it just a genuine enthusiast. Mine is currently in with a specialist, head gasket went but unfortunately wrote the engine off so just going to swap in another 3s. I've owned 8 mk2's and 3 mk3's at this point and I daily a mk3. Too bad mk2 prices have rocketed so they're not the unknown bargain they were once. I really wish pd would put the MK3 in game, such a great little car.

I'll tell you if I buy it, pics will follow. Promise.

It's a tubby of course. Had one before a rev 3 but it got written off... just after I had it polybushed... ugh.

Does anyone buy these considering you'd have to invest 50% of the vehicle cost to get it back to actual new car performance?
Yeah I buy them, mainly for the acquired tab to turn blue and the entry in my PokĆ©dex. Iā€™ve got limited interest in road cars and tuning so if thereā€™s something I like Iā€™ll generally pour money into it but most cars just sits in the garage untouched.

Has anyone else bought the Mclaren from the UCD and not been able to do the weight reduction? I can't even do stage 1 weight reduction which seems very odd.

Yea the UCD only updates daily once youā€™ve finished all the menus

That's not true, on my game at least. I haven't completed all menus and cars are changing.

Hi, he's saying daily. It updates for everyone at times but if you've finished the menu's the updates are more frequent (Daily)

It's entirely true, for everyone.

Once you complete the menu books, the UCD update is daily, at 0000 UTC, and identical for all players globally. Before you do that, it updates according to whatever menu book you are in, offering the cars you need to collect if you'd prefer to buy them rather than do the races.

I have seen cars for which all tuning options are not available. Could it be that this car originally was so lightweight that any further modification is not permitted?

It is odd; I'd be interested to know whether anyone else has similar experience.

I didn't think it was that light weight? I'm toying with idea of buying it from Brand Central to see if the weight reduction can be done to that one. If it can I'll be really annoyed šŸ˜„

It's a bit more nuanced than that:
  • At the very start of the game, before you begin the first menu book, the 18 cars in the UCD are locked to the three "starter" cars and 15 that you can't buy unless it's the account on which you redeemed the pre-order code to get the pre-order credits, you buy MTX credits (spit), or, at least for a couple more weeks, you're on a machine where you had started GT7 on another account prior to the "make-good" 1-million credit ticket being announced. I don't know whether the new-play account had to exist prior to 3/19, but I do know that if it did, that account did not have to even start GT7 prior to 3/19. The catch is you have to buy one of the starter cars to get access to the garage and the ticket.
  • Once you start the first menu book, those 15 "unobtainable" cars are replaced by the "live" list that is updated daily, and are always the last 15 displayed.
  • Depending on where you are in the menu book progression, there may or may not be additional cars available (I call them menu-book specials). Of note, there are 2 menu-book specials that aren't needed for collections, and 2 UCD cars required for collections that aren't menu-book specials.

I thought I'd spotted those changing, but I was blasting through the Cafe for everything Ā«gestures generally at the News pageĀ» else.

Oopsie

I believe that I was thinking of a different McLaren. I assumed that you were referencing the McLaren F1. Since you mentioned buying it from Brand Central, I now think that you were talking about the MP4-12C.

I am surprised that no weight reduction is possible. I also desire this car. The UCD offering was listed as having >50K miles. At merely a 40K credit discount, I will opt for a new one from Brand Central.

I also read an allegation of MP4-12C being not fun to drive. How do you like it? I really believe that I will enjoy it regardless šŸ™‚
