It's not that big of a deal. You make the rules so I modified my lines accordingly (from my practice session) through that chicane. I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to influence you, I apologize, my wording could have been far more appropriate.
I was surprised at the fact that it was deemed illegal because I was under the impression that races under the VCRC banner used the "2 wheels must be on track" and "curbs are track" ruleset that is common on GTplanet.
No, I didn't think you were trying to influence anyone, I was actually confused.
I mean genuinely this whole thing has confused me.
I didn't mean "I'm surprised" in that way... YOu know what I mean the tone was apparently inferred.
I meant genuinely confused & surprised. Literally.
I was confused. Not "shocked and appalled" surprised.
Because yeah, the GTP OLR Rules don't specify things as specifically as what goes on at Deep Forest concrete or the chicanes.
I see 2 wheels on the track and curbs are track... yes obviously. But there are quite a few places where that's not normal track.
If that makes sense?
I've never seen you take a crazy line through any of the suspicious places I know of SagarisGTB, just an FYI. And I think we did one race on Deep Forest and you asked specifically about the concrete.
I tend not to police the concrete at Deep Forest. Though I do think it's kind of cheap. Just not worth fussing about.
Though I would like to say come up with a list of those dodgy places and just have a ruleset for them pre-decided.
I suggested this a couple of months ago, and it didn't really go over too well.
But at the time nobody else was volunteering to steward besides me & cc570, so I think now that we've got a proper stewards board, with other people taking the heat of dealing with these issues we CAN come up with a definitive answer for those dodgy places on tracks that get people doing hinky things or get people's dander up, or make people worry about what's okay or not.
I guess this chicane at Monte Carlo would be one of them.
The other places I see is that well there's the run-offs at Fuji.
You would know about these, like TomBrady said, they're "shortcuts" even though you go wide.
If you've ever been in a dirty pub lobby with boost on high, you'll know exactly what I mean.
Anyway, the race I cited was a GTPlanet forum race, but not a WRS race.
I have no idea if that was allowed in that race or not. (ie: if it was an allowed movement, or just an ignored one.)
But I use it as an example that I wouldn't want to be in a race where that was allowed, because I think it's kooky. And I know most of my regular racing pals in the VCRC would think that's outrageous.
I roll my eyes about the Deep Forest concrete. But at least that's attached to the track and the variation seems a little less clear. The run-offs at Fuji have grass in between them!!!
PLUS, even the in-game penalty system penalized the run-offs on fuji.
(Not so about the concretes at Deep Forest.)
There's a difference for those who don't know. Between GTPlanet and the clubs within GTPlanet.
VCRC races, for example, it's a club that operates under GTPlanet.
None of our races are FORCED to use the GTP OLR Rules.
BUT that's what attracts a lot of people to races at this forum as many use the same GTP OLR Rules.
Now that said, at some point in the future, there could be a "Dirty NASCAR Vintage Muscle Car Race"... That's a possibility. I'm not planning one, but I'm just saying in theory someone could do that in the VCRC, and as long as it's made clear up front that it's a dirty race, and the rules, or lack of rules, would be specified.
In other words, so everyone's on the same page. Because yes, that is the important part. That everyone's following the same protocol in racing. Otherwise it's confusion and not very fun.
And the point of stewarding is so that we're all on the same page, and of course, having fun. (I like having fun.)
ANd as such, one should always check the OP for the "race procedure". Just a reminder.
Edit: the daytona bus stop is another weird one.
(just in case anyone's taking notes. lol)
Edit2: I bet there's a few on Spa, but I haven't raced it enough yet to find out.
