VCRC Tournament#4 Ford RS200 '84 -Congrats OwensRacing!

GTP_Eriba | Dranddad | (Ford) Electric Orange

As I’m a little vintage :grumpy: this fits well, plus I much prefer the older cars. :)

Phillip.

Welcome. You're in good company here. :D
It goes without saying that I love the older cars. ;)

(Too bad that vintage Lotus Caterham kit car isn't available in the game. The Fireblade is cool & all, but it's just not the same.)

Hello fellow racers. Looking to join in on the fun. JP aka Yuri and Brandon aka StigsHero have gotten me interested in the fun racing that is being had here.

Curious what is the Max HP of the RS200. Mine has 18k miles on it and wasn't sure if it was down on power. If so I will have to hunt a lower milage one.

As well what flavors errr colors are open?

See you guys Sunday. FR sent to VCRC account as well.

OwensRacing/OwensRacing/ Black(gold wheels)

Edit: color can be changed

I'll check mine later... I think it has about 8-12k miles on it.
Though I'm sure a HP or 2 won't trouble you.

WR Blue Mica and 70s Firechicken (dark purple w/ gold wheels) are the only dibs colours around here so far. HAHA.
Though there's already 2 whites signed up. Probably because the car comes in that colour, and it looks mighty fine that way.
And "suitably hideous" is already taken. :sly:
Tip: Don't even try Terracotta on this car. :yuck: :ill: :grumpy: (Looked like undercooked pumpkin pie.)

Went with Black with Gold rims.

Bandit vs 70's Firechicken lol

I could go with green rims. It actually looked good.

As well white with Blue rims and Blue with white rims was very Ford looking.

ATTENTION:
If anyone has any lap times on any of these tracks, I'd appreciate the input... to set the laps for each race. (Being not the fastest driver, I tend not to want to use my own lap times for time management logistics. lol)

Sorry I missed you today Tyrrellracing!
Good gravy, I do need the practice. ;)

Attention:
Next week's car has been chosen... A personal favourite of mine (so watch out I'm comin' for your podiums! ;)). It has nice handling. You may recognize it from low pp shuffle racing, or watching your Bspec bobs drive them around Cape Ring in a Remote Race. ;)

Toyota CELICA 1600GT (TA22) ‘70

We're slowing the tempo, and mixing it up with some more tight track racing, for some variety... Will certainly take a somewhat different skill tact than our previous tournament cars. ;)

So if you're interested, the track vote is open in the VCRC forum:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&discussionid=2576

And the car voting has opened for the following week's tournament:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2615

I may be able to make this Sunday's race, all depends on the families plans and the weather. We are scheduled to be away Saturday and Sunday, but possible snow for Sunday may get me out of my visit to her family a little sooner.

OOh.. I just noticed this. :)

Very nice orange. (Nothing like the Terracotta mistake I made.)

JP & I took the cars onto Dirty Badger Trail the other day...

The very car I’ve been using on a track I designed myself for small low powered cars upto 390pp.

As you well know most if not all these cars would not of benefited from ABS & TCS, so I set the track to take this into account to.

I’ve run many laps in the Toyota with and without aids (ABS & TCS) on / off the enjoyment factor was the same. Member - raceorama1234321 has tried this track with small cars, don’t take my word for it, the track is shared if you wish to see for yourself, should you be looking for an alternative.

Having driven for a living most of my life, anything from Austin A40 to Rolls Royce and anything in between, I’ve come to know just what is expected from most vehicles, this let me design the track to best portray the cars points, not as a race track.

That’s enough waffle.

Phillip.

Just to le you know my standard RS200 is Sonic Blue Clearcoat Metallic:tup:

Ive been testing the RS200 at drandads track. Perfect for small racers.

Okay, I've set the laps for the races:
(Thanks to JP for some measuring stick lap times)

Race #1: Cape Ring North - 8 laps
Race #2: Eiger Nordwand Short Track - 10 laps
Race #3: Trial Mountain Reverse - 10 laps

And in the VCRC, you can find several racers interested in racing low powered vintage, on a variety of custom tracks.
I highly recommend checking out the VCRC's Custom Course Directory:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2573
There, you can submit your track for testing. Send me a FR & have the track up for share. (Recommend cars, class, or power levels appropriate to your track.)

We're also planning a G4 custom track tour event. With the 3rd track being up for a contest. Check that out in the VCRC forum.

The Sunday Tournament, I'm considering more or less a fun testing ground for various unmodified vintage cars. We're going to mainly stick to the traditional tracks for this.
But my hope is to take the favourite cars I find, and do other events with them. :)
I would love to do some rally races with this RS200. :D

If you're interested in racing lower powered cars (vintage or otherwise) on random custom tracks... I HIGHLY recommend trying out the Cat & Mouse League:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=244114
It's just fun beyond description. Possibly the most entertaining racing I've found.
cc570 is a genius. 👍 (He's the one who came up with the cat & mouse.)

My rs200 is fluorescent green with fluorescent pink wheels. As these are dlc paints they have no name. I would go for bile green & putrid pink.

haha! Someone else was joking with me that they were going to make their car green & pink like a watermelon!
They didn't mention anything about putridity though.

DLC paints have no names??? :odd:

welcome aboard max!

I'll be practicing, so feel free to arrive @ the VCRC lounge.

(Make sure you get a FR into the VCRC account asap, if you haven't already, thanks!)

Did I miss a cancelation as its 18:06 / 6pm GMT now and not seen the VCRC room open in the last 3hours.
Phillip.

What a Blast!! The RS200 is truly special. Reminds me of an AWD Lotus Elise with its handling.

Look forward to next week. Only track I didn't practice but a few laps was Trial Mountain. Took a lap or two to get a groove. Set my sites on JP and Brandon. Was able to real on B and then off to chase JP. Was closing on him when I messed up the last turn and went wide int grass. This put him back out a second or more. No time left to catch him after that. Run smooth and hope he bobbles. Which he didn't.

Thank You Watermelon and the others for having me. I'll be back next week for sure.

??
Has there been a confusion about the time difference between GMT & EST??
I thought we're both on standard time... ??

dranddad
No confusion you wrote 5pmGMT in your heading above

VCRC Tournament#4 Ford RS200 '84 -Feb19 Sun NoonEST/5pmGMT Signup Open

And it is now almost 7pm GMT been waiting 2 hours for some sort of report.

Phillip.

Was you looking in the thread for a report that the room was open?

Most of us when it gets close to race time we start checking the VCRC Lounge.

I feel your pain on missing races. Especially if you spent time practicing.
