VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

I think I have a nice selection for us this week. 👍

Either of these cars (I presume they're identical)

Must say this is quite a nice car, really likes to turn! On CS, of course and with ABS off it's brilliant!

Fun car, good choice. 👍 The track, well, I'll just look on it as an opportunity to improve at a circuit I completely and utterly stink at. :yuck:

Hopefully I can get some track time in; I'm still not prepared for the Miata Enduro, and I need to put in some serious work at that if I want to finish on the lead lap. :-/

I'm trying my best not to duplicate tracks yet but we're starting to get to the end of the list. We haven't been to Indy yet so I figured now is as good a time as any. And, it's my home track (only an hour away). :) The car is actually quite good there too. 👍

That's actually one of the better choices for Indy Road Course frankly.
Is it the 67s that are not the same? I can't remember which set was different, I remember finding that out awhile back that they were not.
The Cosmo is one of my favourite cars in the game. I remember having difficulties with it in GT4, and then coming to love it as one of the first cars I purchased in GT5.

It's just a pity PD didn't update Indy to the current layout; setting aside the questionable fiddly bit they put at the south end, the current infield is much, much better with the elimination of the terrible little esses.

Anyway, maybe it will turn out like Silverstone, where I thought I was terrible but ended up being quite quick! (not bloody likely :D )

To save anybody else the trouble of digging through the thread like I just did, the tracks/cars VCRC has used (in GT6) so far are:

Bathurst (Abarth 500)
Apricot Hill (Plymouth XNR Ghia)
Silverstone GP (Toyota GT2000)
Grand Valley Speedway (Renault R8 Gordini)
Various Short Tracks (Limbo Stick Cup)
Nordschleife (Abarth 1500 Biposto)
Brands Hatch Indy (Honda S800 Race Car)
Autumn Ring Mini (Toyota Sports 800)
Eiger Nordwand Short Course (Alpine A110)
Grand Valley Speedway ('70 Skyline)
Monza (Alfa Guila Sprint GTA)
Motegi Road Course (Isuzu Bellet 1600)
Laguna Seca (Screaming Chicken aka '78 Trans Am)
Nurburgring GP (BMW 2002 Turbo)
Silverstone GP (Lotus Europa Special)
Indy Road Course (Mazda Cosmo)
Suzuka (Mk1 Golf)

(let me know if I missed any)
:odd: I wouldn't have suggested Silverstone last week if I had remembered that y'all had already done that one before I joined VCRC....

Real-life unused Tracks that would be good for future events:

Fuji (both) :)
Spa Francorchamps
Circuit de la Sarthe :D
Willow Springs :D
Daytona Road Course
(even Tsukuba maybe, for the right car :scared:)
oh and Ascari I suppose

As far as original tracks go, there's still Autumn Ring full, Cape Ring variants, Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, and Matterhorn variants. (Personally, I think a half light/half dark race at Matterhorn Dristelten could be fantastic [hellish too, but still fantastic] provided the car involved had great lights...)

Then there's all the Street Courses.... :/

edit: oh and it's worth reposting the link to this spreadsheet that @kcheeb posted much earlier in the thread... handy for sorting cars by pp and year.

edit again: I'm going to update this post occasionally

I would love to have a variable conditions race at Sarthe. But it would need to be the right car. Not too slow, not too fast.
Does Sarthe no chicanes come with time change? (The no chicanes goes with vintage of course. ;))

I'm also hoping to plan, perhaps in a few weeks, an oval endurance with the Honda Beat at Daytona SS. :D

Yeah I wrote all that stuff down about the tracks on the back of an old envelope I was referring to a couple of months ago... and I suppose spouse chucked it into the recycling.  Which is why I now use decorative stationery for all my notes. Just in case I leave them around the house... they can be easily differentiated from actual garbage.

What I do remember is only the full Motegi RC has the settings, Suzuka & Eiger only have weather not time (and Suzuka East & Eiger Reverse none), and the sun never sets at Autumn Ring.

Yes, the no chicanes versions have no time or weather change, just the 2013/2009 regular versions. ):

All Silverstones, Brands, Nurburgrings, Willows, Daytonas, Apricot Hills and Matterhorns, plus Ascari, Motegi RC, and Spa, have time/weather (no 24hour cycle at the British tracks or Ascari). Tsukuba also has weather but no time, as does High Speed Ring. GT Arena has limited time but no weather.

PD have never changed Laguna Seca either, when it was changed for safety in MotoGP.

I'd love for them to update the courses, especially Indy Road since it's undergone multiple changes since the GT version was released, but from what I've gathered it's not very easy for them to make a simple layout change. I think they would rebuild the whole track from scratch which is very time consuming. You can see this at Nurb GP/F which now features time/weather change. I'm pretty sure that track was completely redone from scratch, its looks mostly the same as in GT5 but the more you look around the more you notice that everything there is new and shiny and updated. Same at Autumn Ring. Hopefully the new architecture of the PS4 makes it a lot easier for them to re-do all these legacy tracks/cars and to make simple changes to existing assets.

Yes can understand, Brandon why they haven't changed them if it takes time.

Has anyone had a look at the track list for Project Cars, new game coming out on PS4. Theres a thread on the forum, looks very good:)

Strange you mention P.CARS, on my Rocket thread a while back a few of us were talking about various disappointments in the GT series and how P.CARS seemed like the next logical step. I'm not going to buy a PS4, but if anyone will be on the PC version I'll catch them there!

Due to unfortunate Real Life happenings I shall not be able to make tomorrow's VCRC race. Apologies for the last-minute cancellation. I was looking forward to racing the Cosmo, too. :( Hope you all have an excellent race, I should be back on the grid for next week.

How about the MK I Golf at Autumn Ring this week?

I notice crowds have been small lately. Is it due to general apathy about the game or am I not picking good car/track combos? I can start putting things up to a vote if it would help.

I have liked your combos Brandon. But actually I think this would be my least favorite combo that you picked. I know it's not the mini course but we did do autumn ring mini a while back. Also I don't think the golf is that fun to drive plus the understeer on a technical track. I think I would prefer either a different car but the same track or the same car but a different track. I wonder how the karmann ghia would be on autumn ring instead? That's just me. Certainly take other people's opinions into account as well.
