VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

Ok I think I'm going to stop posting for a minute
Sorry about all of my double posts

Edit: I honestly liked the old Fuji tracks. I just think the last set of turns ruins the track for me

I've never really had any problems with the last set of turns. It's turn 2 that I absolutely despise, it's one of my top 5 most hated corners in the game......probably in the top 3, in fact. The nonsense of an excuse for turn 1 at Ascari probably takes the number 1 spot, it's so bad it renders the whole course useless for racing. 👎

I've never been a fan of ascari and I agree that first turn sucks. And what's the point of chicanes that you're just supposed to run over anyway?! I've never had a problem with turn 2 on Fuji though

Other than a blind uphill left-hander towards the back of the track, I really like Ascari. But with that 🤬🤬 turn 1 it's pointless to try to race there. Even if you let people cut the hell out of it, it's still impossible to get through there safely. It boggles my mind and makes me kind of upset that we have yet another track in the game that's useless for racing (along with all the Matterhorn configurations). To think of the time wasted on creating those tracks...........:banghead:

I think literally every single time (ok, not quite literally) I've tried to take turn 2 at Fuji I end up waaaaaaaaay over in the runoff area. Even when I try to go slow I just can't get a car to handle it and I lose many, many seconds to the rest of the field every lap. :dunce:

I actually like all of the Matterhorn configurations

I like driving on them but it seems like every version has at least one blind corner over a crest that will cause an accident every lap during a race. When organizing races I try to avoid tracks like that.

Well I see your point and I think you're right. I think there is at least one dangerous corner on each of the Matterhorn tracks. I like rotenboden but geez I always mess up there. It's extremely dangerous there. Especially that one corner after the high speed section at the bottom of the giant hill. It's so hard to find a good brake point there and when someone crashes there even if you get your brake point right it's still hard to avoid them if they are nose first in the wall

Exactly. The worst is the downhill that cuts to the left after the crest.....of course you get air over the crest which means you can't turn left. So if you brake before the crest to avoid getting air, well then you've shifted the weight off the rear so when you go over the crest the back end comes around. So you end up having to brake way early and go over the crest like grandma. And like you said, even if you go like grandma it's likely somebody behind you is probably crashing and will collect you on their way down. I can't fathom how the thought that was a good idea.

Ok, for this week we're going to do a true VCRC-style car.....the 83 Honda City II Turbo at Tsukuba. :sly: @Naptown25rs and I had a good foolaround with them last night and it was quite fun. I am going to make a slight change, we're going to put the slipstream up to Weak since it's very difficult to overtake at Tsukuba (especially with this car). We tried the Weak setting and it's still quite weak and difficult to overtake but it's at least possible and should make things a little more entertaining. Hopefully nobody objects.

Anyone had a go in the City Turbo yet? It's a surprisingly fun little car and the view from cockpit is rather comical with that huge windscreen. I use the narrowest FOV and the rear view mirror is all the way up at the very top of my screen.

I'll give it a try now , which tires are we using ,I guess CH ?

Whatever comes stock. Are CH stock on it? I don't think I even checked. If anybody joins you try to do a test with slipstream at Weak instead of Normal and tell me what you think. It's still very weak, took me a whole lap to make a pass stick but with it on Real I was only able to overtake (safely) if Naptown had a bobble.

CS are stock , tried it , loved it , great car/track combo
1.13.117 so far .
But now I'm switching the car and track again to an Italian/german combo ;)

edit:
I couldn't test the slipstream , had only one random "racer" who asked for RS tires :banghead: I showed him the door :D

We would be honored, sir. I'm doing the temporary hosting as Ms. Punch is currently otherwise occupied on Sunday mornings so send me a FR and we'll see you Sunday. This week is the Honda City Turbo on CS at Tsukuba.

Yea I knew about the combo cause i have read a couple of posts back ;). I'll add you later in the day ;)

I don't know Brandon, it seems pretty permanent to me. Not that it's a bad thing of course

I like to think of it as temporarily permanent. :sly:

I suppose I should probably think about creating my own thread for it, I imagine the current state might be confusing people who aren't familiar with things and that could be keeping them from joining. With @watermelonpunch blessing of course.

Excellent.
