That's what turn10 did with poliphony. Oh well, what they tried to do at least. You can easily call Forza "the-attempt-to-make-granturismo-for-xbox-as-well". Version 3, of course.

EDIT: as it could be more clear, Gran Turismo : Forza = Macintosh : Windows.

That said by a guy who's typing from a Mac. Forza could sell more and be more famous, but it'll always be a cheap lame copy

Who cares who copied what from where... they're racing games, we just want the best experience possible and that often comes from looking at the competition and copying/improving on what they've done. Fact is, Forza currently has some features that GT would do well to copy.

Agreed. For example the auction house system in FM3 was incredible! Not to mention the amount of customization.

Customization ...is what GT5 lacks on all levels....

you have a photomode feature .. but you can not pin point what you want to shoot, if the moment passes then you have to replay the whole thing...makes no sense.

Anyway play the game ...but hopw PD/SONY step it up in GT6 :nervous:

The 133mb patch adds as promised weight and power restrictions to online racing. No mention in the news section of GT5 what other changes are made.

If theres no competition, theres no evolution for both the franchisings.Competition is healthy! It makes the world go round! Think about it.👍

Very true. But it's kind of sad that even with all it faults, gt5 sells so well. It's just a sign that there's not enough serious competitors in racing sim genre. I would trade gt5 no-time to a pc sim that had as good graphics and better customization options. If it would happen I would be very sorry for those who have been fooled and robbed by buying a useless mac with 2 year old hardware but double the price than a decent gaming pc.

:(After the V 1.02 update GT5 won't start up because it keeps saying there's not enough space (which simply is not true). Anyone else having this problem?

like what?
pre-rendered damages?
oil skidding fashioned racing?
antigravitational stick recovered roll over?
crappy cockpit reproductions? (like, with speedometers with full scale at 100mph)
the worst online ever noticed so far on a game?
the cartoon-looking 720p graphics?
the drivetrain swapping?
etc
etc
etc

Are they going to fix the Cockpit view? Youre sitting way to close to the steering wheel. And the only thing you can do is to move even closer? I loved the GT5P cockpit view why change it?

Pretty sure that's not changing. It works for me... sitting further back means you see more cockpit and less track. I feel like when I am driving competitively, I hardly notice the cockpit around me beyond the gauges anyway.

Has the new patch fixed the freezes in single player when connected to PSN? Has it fixed the online gaming issues?

Those are the two things that I care the most about.

Also, +1 on the idea of adding the option to make a copy of our savegame file. Just in case. Hope they allow us to do so.

The update didn't change a thing for me. The game still keeps saying that it's not possible to sign into the server so I haven't been able to play online with this game yet. Is there anything known about Europeans being unable to go online or something like that? It's not my internet because it works with every other game.
Or does everyone just keep trying till they get signed in?
I also wonder what the hell they were thinking. The game has probably sold millions of copies and they only make room for 1 million gamers? GT5 is Sony's biggest game and then they do stupid things like this...sigh I guess Sony was overwelmed by GT's sudden release.
I hate it though that when I finally can play online everybody there will allready know all the tricks and all I'll be doing is being the punching bag.
While writing this I let the game try to sign in another 10 times but it still didnt do so.

The HYPE is the answer for most of your questions. This game is expected as anything else in the gaming community. The game access the ONLINE servers even if you´re not going in to a online race ( a big mistake in my opinion.) . In A-Spec it connects to the servers, trying to synch laps and stuff... its a hard time to gt5 servers.

I´m sure in the upcoming weeks , the online traffic will be 100% working as expected.

How about?

A graphically consistent car and track list.
Excellent livery editor.
Auction house.
Much more configurable online options.
Leaderboards.
etc.
etc.
etc.

Both games could take elements from the other and improve their own overall experience. To not accept that is borderline lunacy.

I just don't get fanboys who can see no good in anything else. I'm a Newcastle United fan, I loathe Manchester United.......doesn't mean I wouldn't want Wayne Rooney in my team ;)

Monkfish, boabmatic: Thanks for your replies, I´m from the netherlands so it´s still very possible that the rest of the EU is plugged out: wouldn't be the first time that the uk gets a different treatment. I kept trying since my post here but it kept saying "a connection to the server could not be established". I give up for now.
Mr Turismo: I don't see how the word "hype" has any relevance to trying to play online.

Is it so hard to think that people actually like GT 5? You immediatlely call them fanboys.
Nothing wrong with Forza.
Onto GT.

1. DLC
2. livery editor, mehh... this is a simulator, not need for speed.
3. Auction house, probably not gonna happen, but hopefully. You can gift cars and trade on forums though.
4. Getting patched, and other online features, as confirmed by the man himself.
5 ?
6 ?
7 ?

For Gods sake... just disconnect your PS3 from PSN when you're going to play, and problems solved...

BTW, about these patches... really, lets wait a little bit more. Things will get better. Now the game just is selling a lot and because all the hype. The online system must be going nuts.

I love GT, its the game that got me into the whole racing game world, so no it's not difficult to see how people can like it. That's why I said both games. But you didn't bother to read or understand that, you saw and read what you wanted to see. I didn't call anyone a fanboy for liking GT5. I said anyone who can't see the good in anything else can be considered a fanboy. Some people are so fanatical in their support of one game that they see no fault in their own or good in any other. Every game has these people and I find them all absolutely pathetic.

the menu seem to load faster after 1.02... doesn't seem to be as laggy as before...

maybe I'm just imagining things having just got done playing 14 hours straight...

+1 That is the best analogy that I have seen so far.👍
