MSTER, check the OP for info on upcomming practice sessions. It's there for a reason.

A little heads up guys. I might move the last race (the one on the Nurburg), to September 1st. Would this be ok with all of you?

Not sure because it might be the time I spend my final revision before school starts :ouch: .

Me Neither. I have no idea what I'll be doing in September but I'm guessing I'll still be unemployed :(

But I'll know what I'll be doing in September :banghead: .

Also, why are you still unemployed? Do you receive unemployed benefits?

I get job seekers allowance. I don't want it though. I want a job it's just I have no experience so nobody will employ me. Anyone looking for a highly motivated college graduate with a BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners. Also I have up to Level 3 in multiple Data Entry fields. :sly: Worth a shot .

I know just how you feel mate. This economy sucks. The Army is always looking for people though. :sly:

So you get paid to sit around at home doing nothing but play Gran Turismo 5 all day long :odd: ?

I'm really not army material

Well when you play GT5 constantly for nearly 4 months you get incredibly bored of it :yuck:

Guys I need help. I'm racing at Spa in a 458 with the following specifications:

Official Specs:
430hp (Power Limit to this figure)
xxxxkg
551pp
Legal Modifications:
GT Auto Front Lip Spoiler
GT Auto Front Extensions
GT Auto Rear Wing #2
Fully Customizable Suspension
Clutch: Twin Plate
Flywheel: Semi-Racing
Adjustable LSD
Stage 3 weight reduction
Carbon Hood (Painted)
Window Weight Reduction
Chassis Strengthening (Optional)
Spec Tire:
Racing Hard

It's also no ABS which I'm not used to, any tips from guys who use no ABS, that Jawehawk and MSTER I believe?

Edit: Didn't notice I was last post too. Apologies.

First of all, don't worry about the double post, we all make that mistake sometimes. And you are correct, me and Jawehawk both race without any ABS. It's usually much easier to control the brakes when you have a steering wheel, but when racing I've noticed that I was locking up at the rear without even realising it since the DFGT pedal by default is very mushy. That's why I eventually went around opening it to fix my twitchy pedal problem and reset the springs so it feels a little bit stiffer. I also stuffed a sponge behind the brake pedal, and I find myself locking up less often.

The key to driving without ABS is to try and make your front wheels reach lock-up point just before the rear ones do. I achieve this by almost locking up the wheels then releasing the pedal quickly. Then go on the brakes and manage your braking so the wheels won't lock up again.

Also, my DFGT pedals broke today, so I think I might give up GT5. That wheel is dodgy as 🤬 .

I know very little about tuning in GT5, so I won't, nor can I, give any advice on that. I do however have a lot of experience with non-abs driving. To be honest, I found it easier to drive without abs when driving with the DS3 controller. Shocking, I know. I never touched the brake balance when using the DS3 (using L2 for braking), however, the instant I drove with a wheel, I found out that it was downright necessary to change the brake balance on almost all the cars (without abs, cars will actually behave differently while braking).

On most road cars, you want to set it to 2:1. Race cars (espicially LMP's) can go higher, without trouble. The overall key to getting a good brake balance, is setting the balance a little higher to the front, than the rear.
Then you just need to practice on not applying full brake pressure all the way while braking. Lift off the brakes a little when you hear the tires screaming for grip. And remember that braking while turning can produce devastating results. Though it can also serve as an advantage at times.

Thanks guys, also to update my previous post it's on Suzuka. I kinda made a fool of myself in the other post although I do have my brake balance on 3-2 so maybe 2-3 or 1-2 would be a better idea. 👍

I have practically no experience with driving without ABS. The rally race with the lancia delta was my only race so far without ABS. Just wondering, for those who are driving with steering wheel: which foot do you use for braking and do you have a drivers license/car (irl?)

I did some testing yesterday and both cars seems to be very close again, good choice andy 👍. I'm not sure which one i'll take, i would like to test them both in upcoming practise session.

I use my right foot, as I need the other foot for the clutch. :)
When using paddle shifter, I still use the right foot, as I see no use in applying throttle during braking, and besides the bar holding the wheel, is somewhat in the way. I don't have a drivings license, as I haven't had the money for it. :(

On another note. The Nurburg Race has been moved to September 1st. That means a lot of racing in that weekend. :)
There also seems to be something wrong with the countdown timers. They don't seem to match the actual race times?

I use the right foot for cars with a 3 pedal clutch system, and the left foot for cars with paddle shift/2 pedal system.

The point of left-foot braking is not to apply the throttle and the brakes together, although it helps with avoiding lock-up. The main point of left-foot braking is to be able to get on the brakes immediately. When using one foot, there is a slight delay between gas and brake inputs. Using left-foot braking eliminates this delay, making you slightly quicker out of corners.

I thought so. Its the same when driving a car (irl) with manual transmission. The thing is when driving a car with automatic gearbox, you still brake with your right foot, despite having two pedals. The left foot has less feeling for braking as you are used to either fully press the clutch or release it. I remember my first ride with an automatic gearbox, it wasn't smooth until somebody told me to use the right foot only :). Quite handy, an intership at the local BMW dealer :).

I don't even know how they work, can you reset them or someting?

I changed the time for the last event, and it still seems off. I'll figure someonething out later, as I really don't feel like spending time on it now.

I don't plan on ever aqquiring a car with an automatic transmission, so right foot throttle/brake shouldn't be a problem. :)

That's why I want an Aston Martin DB9. Rather than a boring paddle shifter, they stuck with the good 'ol H-shifter. Just the way it should be. Don't know if their newer models have those, though.

I prefer manual gearbox as well, but i must say an automatic gearbox is very comfortable. Especially when driving in traffic jams. My Z3 M Coupe has a pretty heavy clutch, so driving in traffic jams is a good workout for my left leg. The automatic gearboxes from BMW are very comfortable, i've driven other automatics and some of them were rubbish.

How well does the army pay? DB9's are not that cheap :).
